The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband
Chapter 236: Look perfect together

Chapter 236: Look perfect together

Cedric smiled, seeing the sight before him; how many times does he need to see it to know the truth? "You should stop him," Cedric heard Elias say from beside him, genuinely concerned.

"Why should I? They look perfect together." He replied, his hold on the rose tightened.

Cedric glanced at the rose, what was he going to do with it? He didn’t want to approach her. He did not know if he would be able to keep the rage boiling in him at bay if he did.

"She never deserved it, give it to Callista. The poor girl is all alone without a single rose." The voice that always bothered him found a very convenient time to chime in his head. Cedric glanced at Callista. Their gaze met; he shook his head, changing his mind.

He rather kept the rose to himself, Alfonso left Abrielle after accomplishing his task. Cedric wondered why Alfonso didn’t kiss Abrielle at once, affirming all the rumours.

"Let’s head back, I am exhausted." Cedric sighed, sounding very drained. Elias sensed something about Cedric, one that he had never noticed before.

He remembered how happy the prince seemed earlier during the match. His first guess was the embroidered handkerchief tied on Cedric’s arm. Now, he seemed to have reverted back to his old self.

Cedric left silently; many didn’t seem to notice him because they were all caught up with other interesting matters to pay attention to the first prince that wasn’t favoured by the public.

Nevertheless, it didn’t skip Rebecca’s attention. She saw it all. She was scared for Abrielle, knowing the kind of person Cedric was. She just didn’t understand why that annoying Alfonso decided to cause Abrielle this much trouble.

"We need to do something, my dear. I don’t know what games Alfonso is playing, but it is a dangerous one," she whispered to Pierre.

"I know, my dear; what is Abrielle doing playing with brothers," Pierre replied equally disturbed. His eyes went over to stare at his daughter wondering what was going through her head.

Cedric matched through the walls of the waiting area. The duel was already done for today but he felt like he hadn’t shed enough blood.

"Are you heading for the palace, your Highness?" Axel asked, he and Elias were following behind Cedric. A rule of the duel was that all participants still partaking in the events were demanded to stay at the palace.

"Not yet, you can go ahead without me. I will join you for the feast later on." Cedric said, he tugged off the handkerchief tied on his arm. His thumb rubs the image on the white fabric.

The deeper his smile the more it hurts in his heart. Why was he so worked out over a rose? She could not refuse based on the rule. There was a chance Alfonso was the one deliberately doing this..

Cedric didn’t want to accept those thoughts no matter how lovely they were. It felt like his mind was making up excuses. He was tired of making up excuses on her behalf.

Axel and Elias were not following the prince anymore as they knew he wanted some time alone. Cedric went to the stables, where the horses were kept to get his horse. The black stallion, midnight.

Midnight saw his owner and neighed recognizing Cedric. He approached the horse, his gaze softening a bit. "At least you are excited to see me." His voice trailed away. He opened the stable door for midnight, and quickly got out of the stall.

The horse spotted the rose in his hand and reached forward, stretching its neck, thinking it was food. Cedric saw through him and raised the rose away from his reach.

"This isn’t for you. We can go to a field where you can get all the flowers you want, not this one." He said he didn’t know what he was going to do with the rose, but feeding it to a horse felt like a waste.

He mounted the horse and then pulled the reins, leading it to the exit. Cedric halted, a knot forming between his brows. "Seems like someone is going on a ride to let out some steam. You are actually handling the situation pretty well." A particular princess with ash blonde hair and ruby red eyes chirped

Sapphire stood at the exit, her hand folded under her bosom while her eyes had an odd emotion. It felt like she was concerned.

"What I do has nothing to do with you." Cedric scoffed at her, he wasn’t ready to listen to whatever he had to say.

"I know you are a man of your own. I was curious, wondering where you disappeared to, but here you are about to run away because you can’t stand the thought of your wife choosing another over you." She replied. Cedric’s hold on the reins tightened; she was getting on his nerves.

"I prefer it when you don’t talk." He sneered at her, making her smile. "Unfortunately I love talking. It feels great to be right. " She chimed at him. Cedric clicked his tongue; he kicked the horse, urging him to race away.

Midnight raced past Sapphire away from the arena to a direction Sapphire had no idea of. "He is indeed a tough nut." The princess clicked her tongue.

No one knew where Cedric went, too, and Abrielle was too engrossed with the after-party of the duel and handling the rumours to have noticed. She was too scared to face him and was actually avoiding him. She dreaded the fact she would have to face Cedric at the banquet that night.

The palace was bustling with a lot of distinguished guests. The princess dressed in a purple dress roamed the halls. It felt like everyone was looking for her but it was the least of her concern

To Abrielle’s surprise, Cedric didn’t give his rose to Callista as expected by the plot, and this troubled her. She hadn’t caught a glimpse of Cedric since the duel and was hoping to see him here, but there was no sign of him.

Fear crept into her heart but it was a different kind. Where was her husband?
