Chapter 220: She had the letter
Chapter 220: She had the letter
The way Cedric actually presented the allegations didn’t seem like it was a big deal but it was for him. What he didn’t understand was that even if Callista had mistakenly gotten a wrong letter she should have been kind enough to send it to the person it was intended to.
And everyone could rest on that ground. It was a mistake, but she didn’t, and he had an upset wife who pretended like she didn’t care, then went ahead to smash everything she could lay her hands on in her room.
Personally, he didn’t care that she went on an anger spree, destroying everything. Everything that was broken could be replaced, what ticked him off was the fact she was still recuperating. She could have hurt herself during then.
"Pardon me, what do you mean by it was addressed to Abrielle? " Callista asked Cedric, looking honestly confused.
Cedric almost bought the innocent look. "I meant exactly what I said." Cedric sneered; he could not believe that his letter actually got into Callista’s hand, causing this big misunderstanding.
"Sorry, I had no idea. I thought it was..." Callista was cut off by Cedric. "You thought it was what? Didn’t you find it odd how it was written, and in the first place, why would I write to you." He snapped at her causing her to flinch. He had never raised his voice at her.
They got along pretty well, and he had risked his life to save her before. Her eyes watered lost.
"I am sorry, I didn’t..." Her voice broke, and Cedric was stunned to see her cry. His rage was almost quelled; he balled his fist. "I am not the one you should apologize to." He replied.
"That is too harsh, you should have made sure your letter got to your wife." Lucian stepped in to defend Callista.
"Now we are pretending not to see how pretentious she was acting. What were you trying to do? You obviously got the second letter I complained about not receiving a reply and yet it didn’t click that the letter wasn’t meant for you." Cedric sneered at her. Callista’s heart squeezed unable to believe the same Cedric that always spoke to her in a soft tone was being harsh because of Abrielle
She bowed her head, avoiding his gaze; the tears started to stream down slowly. She seemed hurt. He was in peril finding it difficult to handle the situation.
"I am sorry. I tried to speak to Abrielle about the letter during the masked ball, but she shut me off at the mention of your letter." Callista’s voice choked, sounding genuinely sorry about the situation. Cedric was tongue-tied, he did get word that Abrielle and Callista did get into a confrontation during the masked ball, but no one has an idea what they spoke about.
Callista clenched her fist, but Cedric didn’t reply to her. "I will speak to Abrielle to clear the misunderstanding. I hope this didn’t cause a major issue in your marriage." She tried to salvage the situation.
"I prefer you rather not, things are already sticky as it is." He could not let Callista speak to Abrielle. He knew Abrielle was not fond of Calista and he didn’t want a repeat of the victory ball incident. He didn’t want a scenario where she lost it and got lost in the woods again.
This was spring, and a lot of predators who were hibernating were already up. "I need to fix what I have caused. I honestly didn’t..." Callista kept on putting on the pitiful act.
"I am glad that you know that it caused me problems. I will appreciate it if you don’t get close to Abrielle for the meantime."
The room went quiet for a while; Callista wiped off the tears from their cheeks. "I understand," she said in a sombre tone.
’ Why did you hurt her?’
’ you should not have been harsh to her. After all, you should have sent a letter to her.’
’ the letter got to the right person. It is a sign that she is the one for you and you are going to lose her to Lucian.’
The voices came again, it was furious he was harsh to Callista. He had an entire internal conflict and, in the end, decided to leave her be. It was all in the past.

The Carriage door was pulled open and a tall figure with raven black hair stepped out. His gold eyes glanced around the front of the castle. The castle looked a bit more colour he wasn’t sure if it was because of the bright colours of spring or it was something else.
He walked to the main entrance of the castle. His head was clouded with a lot of things that happened today but his primary concern was his little ginger.
"Find out where Abrielle is?" He instructed Elias. The butler was waiting for him at the entrance to take his coat. Even before Elias had to find out about Abrielle’s location the butler beat him to it.
"Welcome back, Your Highness. The princess is currently on the beach." The butler informed him.
"The beach, " he was a bit surprised by the fact. "Yes, the princess spends a lot of time there. "
"Isn’t it too cold and late?" Cedric asked, feeling a headache coming. It was almost dusk.
"She prefers going by this time." The butler added. Cedric pressed his lips together. "When did this habit start?" He was concerned for Abrielle hearing about this.
The butler was hesitant to answer at first but he has to respect his master. "It was after she found out about her challenges to conceive." He informed the prince, he was scared and that he had made a bad choice. Cedric’s flickered hearing The butler

It was a beautiful sunset, the sun was on the horizon at the point the sky met the water. The light sea breeze blew, causing the red hair that sat on the beach to shiver.
It was peaceful here; coming here always calmed her chaotic thoughts.
