Chapter 190: The Secret bank

The beautiful store stood on one of the business streets in Vitalis. At first glance, there was no way to guess anything about this store.

A lot of people didn’t know of the existence of the secret bank, and what Abrielle loved the most about it was the fact the money could be saved under a secret alias, making it hard to be tracked.

A soft smile graced Abrielle’s lips once the carriage stopped in front of the lovely establishment.

As Abrielle stepped out, a discreetly armed guard at the entrance nodded in recognition before pushing the door open. She had already arranged an appointment through Zoltana, her trusted aide. She was glad she had completed the mission of finding Zoltana.

The store was busy with several ladies; some honestly were here to get the latest jewellery while others were here to cash a check or deposit. You never really know at a glance.

Several glass cases glittered with necklaces, rings, and brooches, all shimmering under the bright lights coming from the open window. The store was brightly lit. The scent of polished wood and fresh parchment filled the air along with dried flowers.

A woman in a deep burgundy gown approached, her grey-streaked hair pinned into a sharp bun. " Princess Abrielle, how lovely to see you here. I could not believe the appointment request but I guess our shop did catch the eyes of the princess," she greeted with a polite smile. "Are you here to admire our newest collection?"

Abrielle returned her smile, stepping forward. "Indeed. I would love to see your exclusive list,"

The woman’s expression didn’t change, but there was a flicker of understanding in her eyes. She gestured toward the back of the shop. "Of course. Right this way, my lady. We do have a new shipment I am sure the princess would love." The woman mentioned.

Evelyn, oblivious to Abrielle’s true intentions, eyes darted around the store. Her instincts told her there was something wrong around the store. "The lovely sapphire piece we saw from the window. Is it on the exclusive list? I am sure it will match the princess’s eyes." Evelyn asked the shop attendant.

Abrielle smirked, glancing at Zoltana. "The piece is lovely, I hope the exclusive list will have something even better." She chimed.

"It is magnificent, your highness. You won’t regret giving this shop a chance." The shop attendant answered with the sweetest smile ever.

The shop owner led her to a private room that was screaming luxury, from the expensive painted walls to the beautiful white marble floor. There were antique paintings in gold frames and exquisite vases. The room said everything meaning this is for the wealthy.

"Please try to relax while I get the catalogues. We have exquisite tea from Galvai and the pastries are made from the finest." The lady explained while Abrielle was being served. Abrielle did just that, Zoltana served the tea to her.

The strong fragrance of camellia fills the room as it is gently poured into the cup. The aroma of camellia tea rises with the steam, a sweet and floral scent carrying a hint of rose petals and honey.

The steam lifts, it carries the fragrance upward, releasing a delicate mist that dances in the air.

As the steam cleared, the pale yellow-green colour of the tea was revealed; it was appealing to watch the tea being poured. Abrielle wasn’t a fan of tea but staying in this world made her appreciate things like a cup of tea being poured.

"Here is your tea," Zoltana carefully lifted the fine china cup so as not to spill the contents on Abrielle. This entire time Evelyn had been watching closely, she still had a feeling something was off about this establishment.

Abrielle relaxed, enjoying her tea, taking little sips and bites of the pastries that were freshly baked. This was indeed what could be described as a 10 out of 10, no drama.

The sales representative soon returned carrying a thick book that contained all their jewellery, including raw material, for a costume order. Abrielle’s eyes sparkled on seeing the list. It was perfect.

"This is a wonderful collection." She chimed with her eyes sparkling. Evelyn was a bit puzzled because the items were pretty but not extraordinary. Abrielle currently possessed items more charming than most of the jewellery. She could not understand why the princess’s eyes were sparkling while going through the catalogue.

"I will love this, and this. Ooh, that too. This one is just enchanting." Abrielle started picking several items like a hoarder. She was basically buying everything. Evelyn didn’t mind if the princess wanted to buy everything in the catalogue. Cedric was more than capable of affording it but the problem was the prices were exorbitant.

The stones were not worth it, and Evelyn, who had served Cedric for years, had a good eye for stones. She was once a noble before being sold out. Her brows furrowed, wondering what was up with the princess if Abrielle had been blind not to realize there was something wrong with the prices.

After picking an unreasonable amount and talking about the latest fashion Abrielle finally picked everything she wanted. "Is there any other thing you have in mind, your Highness? We do have another list that might be of interest to you." The sales representative asked Abrielle. Evelyn’s frown deepened, worried if her mistress was oblivious to such brazen fraud.

She almost snapped, forgetting her place as a maid. "No, this is enough for now. Get me the bill." Abrielle requested. Evelyn released a breath of relief; she still felt a slight pinch. Cedric’s money was being blindly squandered by his wife.

Abrielle has been cutting costs and managing the castle perfectly this past month but she suddenly lost all her managerial skills today. "I will get right on it immediately. Excuse me." The sales representative took her leave.

As soon as the door was closed Evelyn couldn’t hold it in anymore. "Your Highness, I think this is a scam. The prices are all wrong." She voiced out

"There is nothing wrong with the prices, Evelyn. This jewellery is made by a world-class designer. It is not the stone that has value but the craft." Abrielle confidently stated, taking a sip of her tea. She understood everything that was happening, Evelyn was the only one left in a loop.
