Chapter 144: Unexpected summon

Callista’s hand grabbed Abrielle’s arm causing her to stop. Abrielle’s eyes glanced at her arm. She was annoyed that Callista stopped her and was obviously not in a good mood.

"I didn’t know that the temples don’t teach their discipline how to respect the royal family." Abrielle drawled her eyes sharply, staring at Callista’s hand. Callista quickly realized what was wrong and let go of Abrielle’s arm. "I am sorry, Your Highness, I seem to have lost my manners." She quickly apologized.

Aurora’s eyes narrowed, "you should think twice before acting. How dare you stop the princess when she was merciful enough to ignore your disrespect?" Aurora cautioned, making Callista panic.

"It’s enough," Abrielle stopped Aurora, not wanting things to escalate more than they already were. She didn’t want to be a villainess who wanted to make the female lead shortcomings obvious.

"What do you want to talk about?" Actually asked with a very calm demeanour. Callista’s lips quivered but she held herself together. "I want to apologize for what happened during lunch the last..." Callista was still apologizing, and honestly, Abrielle was tired of listening.

"There is no need to apologize," she chirped. "But I..." Callista was insistent, but Alfonso finally stepped in, sensing Abrielle’s aversion to the stop. "It is really kind of the princess to forgive Callista. Please excuse us, I am sure you have more important things to attend to. " Alfonso chimed at Abrielle. She nodded at him and then left the area.

Her mood was a bit fouled but she still had a task to attend to. Although Abrielle found it weird Alfonso was accompanying Callista and not Lucian. Seeing her with Cedric would not have been so surprising either.

Another waiting room was arranged for Abrielle, where Aurora started showcasing some of the store’s best sellers. The dresses were indeed made from the best material but so were the clothes made from several other stores...

Abrielle had a plan which she thought would improve the store sales, the most stereotypical thing to do in a transmigration novel. Just thinking about it seemed funny.

"We will not be able to change the rumours because the store is indeed owned by the prince, but what we can do is improve our items and sell things only exclusively sold here," Abrielle suggested, which made Aurora’s eyes sparkle. Abrielle didn’t plan on introducing modern styles to clothing but instead wanted to introduce foreign styles to the designs.

She was not here to make a revolution or help Cedric but to siphon funds for an emergency. If she took over this project the funding would be in her control.

"That’s exciting, I also had the same idea. When last I travelled out to the kingdom of Heliosia, I was drawn by some of their outfits, and I have so many ideas to incorporate." Aurora chimed, and Abrielle nodded.

The Heliosia style was indeed unique and beautiful. Her hand was running through a soft piece of silk. The clothes were beautiful as they were, and she would have loved to leave it the way it was, but unfortunately, it couldn’t remain this way.

"I also have some ideas in mind. Maybe we can talk about what you have in mind and see how to work things out." Abrielle suggested, to which Aurora agreed.

"That is a good idea. Hopefully, before spring, we will be able to come up with something." They spoke on further details then Abrielle left with Lucas. They visited other stores owned by Cedric. The clothing store was the only one having issues. By the time they were done with the inspection, it was already evening, and Abrielle was super exhausted.

She was hoping to have a nice silent dinner on her own and then go to bed early because she and Zoltana planned on starting her training at midnight when the castle was silent, but things never went how she ever expected them to go.

Lucas helped her alight the castle, her leg stepping on the ground covered with snow. It was cold and her feet were already killing her in her heels from walking all day.

"Be careful, Your Highness," Lucas mentioned from her side, helping her to stabilize her footsteps leading towards the main entrance. Immediately they walked into the castle’s main entrance Abrielle was welcomed by rather unpleasant news to her.

"Welcome back, Your Highness. There is a letter from the castle." The maid informed her while taking off her fur coat. Abrielle’s brows furrowed, she had a bad feeling about this letter.

"Can I have the letter?" She requested walking past the maid upstairs. She wanted to get to her chambers as soon as possible to get these heels that were killing her feet as soon as possible.

"Of course, it will be delivered to your room soon." The maid answered. Zoltana followed Abrielle upstairs while Evelyn left to handle other matters. The door to her leisure room, which was like a sitting room, was pushed open, and she made her way inside.

The fireplace was lit, warming up the room. She took her seat by the fireplace while Zoltana helped her pull off her shoes. "Your feet are already red and bruised. I will get some ointments to massage them." Zoltana sighed; Abrielle truly had a very delicate body since she had never done any hard or harsh work in her life.

To be honest, the hardest thing she might have done in her life was the nights she spent with Cedric, which left her sore. She was truly a spoilt lady. Zoltana got up and walked towards the door. As she was stepping out, Evelyn came in holding a letter.

"Your Highnesses, this is the letter from the crescent moon palace." She said, handing over the letter to the princess. Abrielle accepted the letter observing the king seal that was on it. Her fingers pulled the seal on the envelope open before bringing out the letter.

Her eyes darted along the lines of the letter each word she read gave her a bad headache. She hissed, massaging the space between her forehead. "Oh God." She groaned before her eyes drew to Evelyn. "The king is expecting diplomats from outside the kingdom and wants the entire royal family to be present." She informed Evelyn.

’ This is great; now I have to be in the presence of those vipers.’ Abrielle felt like crying. Me
