Chapter 63: The Trip To The Mountains

Annalise watched as Kenric helped her with her boots, and even though his fingers weren’t touching her skin directly, she still felt tendrils of sparks running all over her feet.

The memories of the early morning returned to her mind, bringing back the thoughts of his touches and the unthinkable things he did to her in the pool.

The way he made her body writhe and shiver under his touches, the way he made her moan and shout out loudly as his mouth did wonders to her. He had made her relive all the epic memories from the previous night.

And now when she was done with her lunch and had an entire afternoon free in her hands, Kenric had appeared in her bedroom to remind her about their visit to the mountains that he told her about in the morning.

"What are we going to do in the mountains?" She asked excitedly when Kenric finally stood up after helping her with the boots and then took a seat beside her on the edge of the bed.

"To collect herbs," Kenric answered as he took hold of her hands and gave her a small lopsided smile.

"Herbs?" Annalise looked at him in confusion. That wasn’t the answer she expected to hear.

Kenric nodded his head as he stood up and went to look at the vines that were now covered in even more flowers. "Right, herbs. Since we will need a lot of them during our journey, it’s time for us to go and collect some. Though Valerius still has a lot of those stored in his space, it’s still better to have extra stock. Besides, I want you to come and see the Herb Valley with me."

Annalise remained silent as she looked at her husband with her head tilted to the side as she tried to make sense of what he had just spoken. He mentioned about some journey and this was her second time hearing about this so-called journey since morning as it was also mentioned by the lords during lunch. However, she had no idea what kind of journey it was.

And then there’s this herb valley that he just mentioned. She had never heard about any such place ever before. Exactly what or where was this place?

The smile on Kenric’s lips bloomed further as he returned to her side before speaking, "From looking at your face, I can tell that your little pretty brain is filled with questions. But don’t worry, you will get the answers before the end of the day."

Annalise raised her eyebrows but didn’t question him further, just nodded her head in understanding after a few short moments.

Kenric offered his hand to her in the invitation, his open palm waiting for her to accept it. "Are you ready to accompany me, my dear Little Bird?"

Annalise couldn’t hold back the smile that spilled on her lips at the mention of the nickname that he had given her on their very first meeting. It used to sound weird to her but now, she only felt warmth filling her whenever she heard him calling her his ’Little Bird’, probably because the wat of him calling her that had also changed in the past half month. It sounded a lot more intimate and warm now unlike how it sounded back then.

She placed her hand in his palm and allowed him to pull her up into a standing position, the force of his pull was so strong that it almost sent her crashing into his strong arms but that was probably exactly what he wanted.

"I thought we were going to collect herbs in the mountains." She commented when she felt his fingers trailing down her temple to her cheek and then down to her lips where he brushed them over her lower lip like a feather.

"Indeed, but now a voice inside me is telling me to cancel all other unimportant plans and continue with where we left this morning." His voice was low but deep, and his eyes were blazing with the same desire that she came across in the morning.

Talking about where he left things in the morning, it was when she was screaming his name and her body was shaking with the onslaught of pleasure that burned her entire body after the powerful orgasm hit her.

The thought made her bite down on her lower lip consciously and as a result, she ended up biting his thumb which made him growl but not in pain.

"Careful, Little Bird, I’m not good with controlling myself, especially when it comes to you." His voice was even deeper this time and the look in his eyes had only turned more intense.

Annalise gulped down her saliva, trying not to get lost in his intense eyes. She couldn’t even lie that a part of her was liking the idea of postponing all other things and just went along with his second plan about the two of them.

"We should get going if we don’t want to be late." She finally spoke after a few moments as she tried to pull away from his arms. However, he didn’t give her the chance as he suddenly surprised her with a sudden kiss.

His lips moved softly against hers, his arms tightening around her small frame as he pulled her closer against his body. His warm breath fanned her face as he caused her to lose her mind in the passionate kiss that had taken her breath away.

He ended the kiss after a few minutes and she almost let out a protesting groan, neither her body nor her soul liked the loss. Somehow, she succeeded in keeping herself in check at the very last moment.

"You are right, we should get going or I don’t know if I’ll be even in a state to listen to the sane part of my brain. You just tempt me to that level, Little Bird." He whispered while placing a soft kiss against her forehead.

He completely pulled away from her after that but kept her hand in the hold of his own as he led her towards the door of the room.

"We are going to take the horses?" Annalise asked as she stared at the horse that Garron brought out of the stable.

There were five horses in possession of her husbands and they now even had a huge and prestigious carriage. The Cursed Castle was definitely returning to the glory that a place like that should hold.

"I learned from Sera and others that you know horse riding," Kenric spoke as he took the reins of the horse from Garron and climbed up on its back in a single leap that made him look even more charismatic than usual.

"I... I did... but... I’m not sure that I’ll be able to handle one right now. It has been years since I rode one and especially outside of the training grounds." She almost felt her hands turning cold at the thought of facing a horse that she won’t be able to handle.

She still recalled that one time when her riding a horse didn’t end up in a good memory. On the other hand, she even ended up breaking her ribs, and ever since then, she didn’t dare to try again.

"If it has been Damian, he sure would have given you a lecture for being too weak to even try again after just one incident even though it was a painful and horrible one. However, it’s not him but me. I’m actually happy to know that you aren’t looking forward to riding your own horse." Kenric spoke and got her attention.

"Huh?"

Annalise looked at him with confusion which was short-lived as the very next moment, she let out a surprised scream as the man pulled her up by her arm and made her sit in front of him.

"Kenric!" Her voice came out in alarm and her heart was beating at a faster speed as she tried to calm herself down when her husband’s powerful arms came to wrap around her as he pulled her back to rest against his chest.

"Relax, Little Bird. I won’t let anything happen to you." He whispered next to her ear as he adjusted the reins in both his hands that were placed in front of her.

Annalise relaxed against him and felt the tension leaving her body as his warmth cocooned her and filled her with a sense of protection. "That’s not what made me scream. I was just got surprised by your sudden action. You could have given me a warning." She didn’t even try to hide the complaining tone in her voice.

"Sorry, I’ll be more careful in the future. Now, let me take you to a wonderful place as compensation." His lips grazed the tips of her ears slightly and Annalise almost felt her body shivering in response.

She nodded her head in agreement and watched as the horse started moving forward and towards their mysterious destination.
