Chapter 59: Soulmate Bond

The air shifted around her once again and Annalise felt the similar tendrils of magic making their way along the spell. She pictured the candle transforming into the moonstone, imagining its transformation clearly as she pushed her powers into the imagination.

"It worked."

Her eyes flew open as she heard Valerius’ voice and as she turned to look at the candle, she found a glowing moonstone hovering there.

A smile bloomed on her lips in the enjoyment of her success. She hurriedly turned back to look at her husband as she thanked him. "Thank you for teaching me this spell."

Valerius finally pulled his hand away from where he had been holding her hand against his shoulder and brushed his fingers over her temple as he tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. "You are a capable student, I won’t mind teaching you at all. It’s actually a pleasure to feel your powers against mine."

Annalise found her heart warming up but she wasn’t sure if it was because of his words or his fingers that were placed against the side of her neck. His touch was ice cold against her burning skin.

"I... I felt your powers too. But I have never heard about something like this before. Is it even possible to feel someone else’s powers in the same manner as ours?" She finally asked the question that had been bugging her.

"No."

Valerius’ answer surprised her but before she could have asked any more questions, the man decided to elaborate further on his own.

"Have you heard about soulmate bonds?"

His question took her off guard for a couple of moments but she hurriedly nodded her head in affirmative, wondering what this had to do with her question. "I have read about them in a very old book but it’s something that is seen as a myth as they hadn’t been seen ever since the pure Seelie Bloods disappeared. It is said to be the purest bond to exist... between lovers."

She looked at him to see if he was convinced with her answer or not and looking at his expressions, he seemed to be pretty satisfied with her answer.

"It’s true. A soulmate bond only exists between lovers and it’s something that can only be seen among our races. Such a bond doesn’t exist in the mortal realm." He stopped for a second or two before continuing, "You were able to feel my powers... because of the soulmate bond."

The words hit home quite late and when they finally did, Annalise almost forgot to breathe. She just stared at Valerius in pure confusion and surprise. "A soulmate bond?" She voiced in wonder, not understanding how it was related to her in any way.

Valerius’ hold on her waist tightened a little as he suddenly pulled her closer, almost dismissing any space between their bodies. He moved his face closer to hers and placed his mouth next to her ear as he whispered, "Let me show you."

Annalise almost shuddered as his cold breath grazed her earlobe, her mind struggling between keeping attention to his words or the things that he was intentionally or unintentionally doing to her.

"How about you stop thinking too much and just let things work out on their own?" Valerius suggested as he pulled his face away a little bit to look at her face.

"You can read my mind." It wasn’t a question but neither did she found herself accusing him though she was clearly not impressed to know that she had no privacy for her thoughts.

"Not really. I can’t read your thoughts yet but whenever I’m so close to you, I can catch the energies of your thoughts which lets me guess your thoughts. But once we will be on the second stage of our mating bond, I’ll be able to read your thoughts then as long as you will allow me, and the same goes for you too."

Annalise found herself staring at him in full confusion. There were so many things that he just said that didn’t make any sense to her, especially the part about the second stage of the mating bond.

Instead of speaking any further, he moved closer to place a kiss on her forehead before he rested his foreheads against hers. His hand that had been resting on her waist shifted lower and she soon found it resting on her hip.

A shaky breath left her lips as his hand, which was initially placed against the side of her neck, moved to cup her nape as he placed a soft kiss under her left eye. His mouth trailed smaller soft kisses over her cheek, jaw, and on the corner of her lips.

Annalise was almost trembling under the attention of his touches that were making her body feel hot and cold at the same time. "Valerius..." His name left her lips in a plea and she felt him stilling for a second before a low growl left his lips and the next second, he claimed her lips in a hot and passionate kiss.

It took her fuzzy brain a few long moments to realize that this was practically the first time when she had addressed him by his name instead of the formal title, something that he always wanted to hear.

His kiss was neither slow nor fast, it was just the perfect pace that made her forget anything about breathing. His cold lips were like burning lava against hers and as he angled her face to his heart’s desire by tugging on her hair, she couldn’t stop herself from moaning out loud.

Her body shivered as she found herself pressed against his solid chest, her breasts pushed against his well-built muscles.

He ended the kiss and whispered softly, "Let me help you feel the bond." And then his lips were back on hers, demanding, dominating, and full of desire, one that matched hers.

She allowed her hands to make their way around his shoulders as she decided to enjoy the moment, she could feel that she had been waiting for it for quite some time.
