Chapter 392: Veil of Darkness (Part Six)

"It’s time." The Dark energy spoke, its words directed toward the Light energy as it no longer felt the need to talk to anyone else.

A smile bloomed on Annalise’s lips as she refrained herself from commenting on the Dark energy. They just came to an agreement, she would be na idiot to do something as stupid as riling up the Dark energy all over again.

"You will be the perfect queen for the Seelie Realm, Annalise. Always stay like your current self and this realm will soon flourish along with the rest of the world." The Light energy spoke softly, surprising Annalise with its words.

"Me? The Seelie Queen?"

Annalise stared at the Light and Drak energies in shock, her mind still trying to wrap around the idea of her becoming the next Seelie Queen. "How can I?"

"Because-"

The Light energy was about to answer but it never got the chance as the Dark energy suddenly pulled both of them forward, flying straight through Annalise and causing her to lose balance in the action. Thankfully, Esmeray was quick to hold her and stop her from falling.

Before the Dark energy disappeared along with the Light energy, it added - "Let that stupid King of Darkness answer her remaining questions."

And then - both the energies were gone, back in the Primordial Realm.

"What does it mean?" Annalise asked as she turned her attention toward Esmeary who was still holding her but the moment her eyes found his face, she almost panicked. He looked like he had seen some sort of ghost and was staring at her with his eyes wide open in shock.

"Esmeray."

She called out his name softly, trying to shake him out of his trance but she didn’t get the chance as the man just let of her and took several steps away. "Why are you behaving like this?" She was starting to feel anxious because of his reaction.

The energy in the air sizzled for a moment right before Valerius appeared there. There were several injuries on his body but nothing fatal. The moment he saw Annalise, he was immediately beside her, pulling her into his strong arms and engulfing her in a hug.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"I’m not."

Valerius immediately pulled away to inspect her. "Why? What is it? Are you injured somewhere?" The panic was clear in his voice but Annalise was quick to disperse his worries about her. "It’s not me, it’s him. He’s acting so weird."

Valerius turned his attention toward Esmeray who finally decided to speak. The latter pointed at Annalise and whispered - "She-she is pregnant."

"What?"

Annalise stared at Esmeray as if the man had just talked in some foreign language. Her eyes returned to look at Valerius who was just as taken aback as her. He immediately placed his palm against her belly as if to sense the life inside her... and it was right there - strong, healthy, and powerful.

Tears burned the back of his eyes as he cupped her face and placed a kiss on her forehead as he whispered, "He’s right, my love. You are indeed pregnant."

This time, Annalise also failed to hold back her tears and just burst out. Valerius was quick to pull her into his arms all over again while he conveyed the news to his brothers who were still in the Mortal Realm.

Barely a second later, both Kenric and Damien appeared there, taking their turns to hug their wide as they rejoiced.

"Finally!"

Kenric was brimming with happiness as he squeezed Annalise so tightly that he almost felt like her bones were going to crack.

"Thank you, Princess." Damien was just as emotional as his brothers. He kissed Annalise softly before pulling her in a hug.

Annalise placed her palm a giant her belly, trying to feel the life growing inside her. She was overwhelmed with emotions at the moment, happiness clearly winning over the others. "How come we didn’t feel it before?" She asked as the question suddenly popped into her mind.

"Because it’s too early, almost the very beginning," Valerius answered.

"But can we even feel such a young life? That doesn’t sound right." Kenric voiced out the exact question that entered Annalise’s mind. Her eyes immediately turned to look at Esmeray who had been silent all this time. Noticing her gaze on him, he finally answered - "It’s... her."

"Her?"

The Princes were totally confused but realization finally dawned on Annalise as she recalled the moment in the cave.

"The late Light Fae Queen?" She asked Esmeary for confirmation and the man slowly nodded his head in affirmative.

"Wait, what?" Damien directed his question toward both Annalise and Esmeray, and the former finally revealed everything that happened inside the cave.

"... when the spirit of late Light Queen dissipated, I did feel a warmth filling my belly, but I didn’t think much of it back then. Now, it turned out that..."

"It feels slightly weird, but not much. Whether it’s the late light queen or not, it’s mine." Kenric announced as he placed his palm over Annalise’s which was resting against her belly.

"Wait! Does it mean it’s a girl?" Damien asked as his eyes became filled with hope. He was surely looking forward to welcoming a baby girl.

It was actually Esmeray who confirmed as even Annalise wasn’t sure. Just because the baby carried the spirit of the late Light Fae Queen, didn’t mean that it would turn out to be a girl.

"But why do you look so... I don’t even know what to call your expression." Kenric finally brought everyone’s attention back to Esmeray who still seemed to be in shock.

The King of Darkness finally pulled himself together and looked straight into Annalise’s eyes as he dropped the shocking news over all of them - "It’s because... I just felt it..."

"What? The baby?" Kenric asked and they all watched as Esmeray shook his head in denial. He kept his gaze locked on Annalise as he answered - "The bond."
