Chapter 391: Veil of Darkness (Part Five)

"My deal is simple. I want you to return to the Primordial Realm and recreate balance in the four realms. In return, I will return the Light energy to you."

Her words hung heavily in the air as both the Dark energy and Esmeray processed them. She spared a quick look in the direction of the King of Darkness and received a small nod of approval from him.

On the other hand, the Dark energy wasn’t convinced at all. "I don’t need your offer to take back what’s mine. I can destroy this world and still take away light with me."

"Indeed." Annalise kept her calm as she continued negotiating. "You can destroy the world, but you would not be able to reunite with the Light energy if I refused to allow it. Right now, I’m its master and control it."

A ripple of uncertainty flickered across the Dark energy. It seemed unaccustomed to facing such resistance. "You can’t control it!" it insisted, its frustration becoming palpable.

"I can if it allows me. And right now, it trusts me completely," Annalise replied calmly, her words echoing with confidence that challenged the very essence of the Dark energy’s nature.

"Then I’ll just keep you with me for eternity." The Dark energy offered as if it had come up with the perfect solution.

Annalise shook her head as she let out a sigh of disappointment. "Again. What will you even get when I will refuse to let the light reunite with you?"

The realization seemed to slowly dawn over the Dark energy as it finally took time to process her words instead of replying immediately.

"Let me rephrase the deal. If you agree... I will let go of the Light energy and the two of you can reside happily in the Primordial Realm. You both will not be sealed there but neither of you can ever do anything to harm the rest of the three realms. And if you refuse... I will seal myself with the Light energy for eternity."

"You are threatening to separate us again! Didn’t you just say that it’s a wrong thing that he and his mate should not have done in the first place" The Dark energy was boiling with anger at the threat.

Annalise clearly felt guilty for using such a threat against the Dark energy, but she was also fighting for her loved ones along with the safety of the rest of the world. "Only because you are pushing me to do so."

As both Annalise and Esmeray held their breaths, the Dark energy grappled with the implications. The cosmic forces seemed suspended in time, awaiting the decision that would shape the destiny of the realms.

In the midst of this cosmic standoff, memories of a time long past surfaced in the Dark energy’s consciousness. The echoes of their separation reverberated through the corridors of its being, intertwining with the present dilemma. It hesitated, torn between the allure of reunion and the ominous threat of eternal separation.

It stared at both Annalise and Esmeray, pondering on the choices offered to it. Agreeing to the deal appeared like the obvious choice but it made the Dark energy feel as if the other party was winning too easily.

"You are taking way too long." Annalise reminded it, feeling slightly more confident, surprising both the Dark energy and Esmeray.

"Are you not scared woman?" The Dark energy asked curiously.

"Of course, I am scared. But again, if worse came to worst, we all just end up losing - both of us. But I will still win in a way. Death will end my sufferings but since you can not die, you will need to live all alone for who knows how long."

There! She just hit the final nail in the coffin. Even if all these reasons and threats couldn’t make Dark energy agree to the deal, then nothing else could.

Right at that moment, a wisp of light energy escaped and moved toward the Dark energy as to whisper something. A few moments of silence passed. Neither Esmeray nor Annalise had any clue of what was going on, they just stood there and waited.

A moment later, the wisp of light energy returned to Annalise while the Dark energy watched in silence. Finally, it spoke with its voice carrying the weight of reluctant acceptance. "Agreed."

Annalise’s eyes widened with disbelief. Despite her strong and collected attempts, she was not even the least bit confident in her plan of making the Dark energy accept her deal, but it actually happened. If she had to guess, the decision surely had to do something with the wisp of light energy that just went to greet the Dark energy.

"I will fulfill my part of this agreement and return to the Primordial Realm with Light. We will never interfere with the rest of the three Realms in the future." The Dark energy announced before it started pulling its tendrils back.

Annalise and Esmeray watched as the darkness finally lifted from the Seelie Realm and the rest of the world, all the dark energy around the world returning to its source. But that wasn’t all, on its way, the dark energy devoured all the remaining Darklings and Shadowlords, bringing the war to an end.

Fulfilling her part of the deal, Annalise released the Light energy stored within her. A burst of golden light collected next to the Drak energy, matching the latter in power and strength.

"Thank you, Annalise, for everything you have done for us. Consider this a return gift from us." The Light energy spoke in a soft musical voice, showing its gratitude. The very next moment, a powerful golden light surged out in all four directions, bringing the Seelie Realm back to life before stretching further into the other realms to restore nature.

"This is all I can do. Unfortunately, we can not compensate for those who are already dead or the towns and villages you have lost." The Light energy sounded disheartened.

Annalise hurriedly shook her head, trying to control her emotions. "You have already done enough."
