Chapter 154: Homesick

"The Wish Jewels from the two Portal Halls in tge Midnight Realm have already been retrieved and handed over to the Crown Princess Natalia. The guardian families and tge guardian beasts are under heavy protection. Mother is telling us not to worry about them and continue with our plans." Kenric told everyone as he finished reading the magical letter that was sent from tge Midnight Realm.

Listening to the man referring to their mother, Annalise was suddenly left in shock - she had a Mother-in-law, which meant there were chances for more in-laws to appear in tge scene too.

"Are you alright?" Leela asked her as the girl tapped on Annalise’s elbow to get the latter’s attention.

Annalise hurriedly shook her head to get rid of the thoughts as she gave Leela a soft smile. "I’m alright."

It seemed like the girl didn’t really believe Annalise but she still didn’t try to persuade the topic, instead, she changed the subject and asked, "Because of your introduction in the Mortal Palace, I now know that you are a Princess from the Seelie Empire but I still have no clue about your husbands’ identities other than the fact that they are dark faes. Can you tell me more about who exactly are they?"

Annalise opened her mouth and then closed it immediately. What she was supposed to say in response to that question? Even she had no clue about her husbands’ true identity. She was just as clueless as Leela was and tge only thing she knew for sure was that the dark lords were dark faes and very powerful.

"Why aren’t you saying anything? Tell me, I wanna know exactly who..."

"Is everything alright over here?" Kenric’s sudden appearance in front of them made both Annalise and Leela turn their attention to him. The latter quickly bowed her head and left without a single word or a second glance.

As soon as the girl was gone, Kenric stepped closer to Annalise and wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her into a hug. Even though there were so many people present around them, Annalise didn’t step out of his arms or even tried to stop him. She probably needed that hug way more than she knew.

"What is it, Little Bird? I can feel that you are down because of some reason." Kenric asked as he pulled away from the hug slightly to look into her ocean-blue eyes that seemed tired and dimmed.

"I miss home." Annalise found herself confessing as she closed the little space that her husband just created and buried her face back into his chest. His familiar scent entered her system and made her feel calm and relaxed for the moment.

Kenric brushed his fingers through her hair as he whispered for only her to hear, "Just a couple of days and we will be home... and once we will be there..." His other hand on her waist tightened slightly as he paused for a second before continuing, "... you won’t be getting any rest, wife."

Annalise felt her cheeks warming up as the hidden meaning behind his words was very loud and clear. She just stayed silent while keeping her face hidden in his embrace.

"How about you both stop showing so much affection out here in public? Valerius is activating the portal." Damien’s soft voice made Annalise pull away from Kenric’s arms. She turned to look in the direction of the Portal and noticed almost everyone in their little group was already present there except for her and two of her husbands.

The three of them hurried toward the portal as Valerius activated it for their travel. This was the second portal in the Mortal Realm that was connected to the Portal in one of the cities of tge Seelie Empire.

After taking the Portal, they would need to travel for three-four days to reach the Capital City of the Seelie Empire where Valerius, Leela, Ezra, Marley, and Crown Prince Elijah would be heading to the Royal Palace to meet her cousin brother, the King of the Seelie Empire, to inform him about everything that was going on.

On the other, she would continue with her journey to the Cursed Castle with Kenric and Damien. This was the only part of their journey that excited Annalise and made her look forward to the coming days.

It’s been so long since she had been away from her home!

"Master, here are the two more halves of Wish Jewels." Darth presented the Wish Jewels that his men just retrieved from the Portal Halls. The smile on his face was clearly telling just how happy and proud he was.

The said master stood up from his seat and moved toward the high stone pedestal that was standing at a little distance from his throne. There were two shining pieces of Wish Jewels sitting under a sheer glowing liquid and as he flicked his fingers, the two other pieces of Wish Jewels that Darth just brought to offer, also flew toward the pedestal before taking their places beside their kin.

"You have done a great job, Darth." The man in the cloak praised the one who had been wanting to hear these words for a while.

"This humble servant is happy to serve my lord. However, I must apologize as my actions have made the Midnight Realm more alert." Darth accepted his mistake as he knew it was the right thing to do if he wanted to not get on the bad side of the master.

The man in the cloak turned to look at Darth as he silently observed the latter for a few moments before finally speaking, "Let the midnight realm do whatever they want. There’s a reason I didnt stop you from causing so much chaos in the outside world even though I knew the consequences."

"We have enough guardian bloodlines in our hands and as for the remaining Wish Jewels... getting them out of the Sky Castle is way easier than facing the Midnight Realm."
