Chapter 120: Lakeshire Town
Chapter 120: Lakeshire Town
"His character is so warm, welcoming, gentle, and loving despite ice being his first element... is all because of his air element," Kenric told her exactly what she had already concluded.
She probably didn’t encounter Valerius’ air element directly but it was undoubtedly the first thing that pulled her toward him. She only became close to him all because of his gentle attitude and warm heart that pulled her like a magnet.
"Then what about your earth element? Why did I never feel its presence in this entire past month?" She asked curiously and at the same time, realized that it had been neatly three weeks since she got married and very soon, it would be an entire month.
"I have no idea, Little Bird. This is my first marriage too and you are my first and only mate, everything is so new to me too. Besides, unlike Valerius, I don’t know much about this soulmate thing because I never paid much attention to the topic." Kenric answered as they rode past a little stream that was flowing through the forest that was filled with bright sunlight, unlike the Enchanted Forest.
"Fire is my core power and it was the first one to come out and play with your powers. As for my earth element, it hadn’t felt the same pull to your powers yet." There was a sadness clearly visible in his voice as he lightly squeezed her with his arms as if to assure himself that she was still with him.
Annalise immediately placed her hand above his that was resting on her belly. She was completely clueless about the lack of interaction between her powers and his earth element but since his core element was already deeply involved with her, they were undoubtedly potential soulmates. Besides, there was no denying the intense attraction between them.
She heard him let out a small sigh before he spoke, "It’s alright, I’m sure my earth will surely stop being stupid soon enough..." He moved his face closer to her ear before he continued, "... and I can hardly wait for that moment to arrive."
Annalise felt her heart beating faster as her mind recognized the hidden meaning behind his words. So far, she had already consummated her marriage with Valerius and Damien but she and Kenric still hadn’t completed that last ritual of their husband and wife status. But even that didn’t mean they both hadn’t done anything at all in the bed. He was actually the one who knew her body the most and could easily make her go weak in her knees with a single touch of his fingers, or lips.
She shivered at the thought of his hands roaming over her body and his mouth trailing kisses down her throat to her collarbone before he would further indulge her into the deep ocean of pleasure.
She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath to control her thoughts that had started running astray. When she next opened her eyes, she had her thoughts and her body mostly in control but the chuckle from Kenric and even her other husbands who had been riding at a little distance in silence all this time, made her realize that they were pretty obvious of her struggles.
She felt her cheeks burning in embarrassment and to hide herself, she just buried her face in Kenric’s chest, and even though the man was also chuckling along with his brothers, he immediately pulled her in his embrace and wrapped his arm around her protectively.
"It seems like you didn’t do a good work last night, Damien." These words were meant to tease Damien but the one who really felt them deep down in her belly was none other than Annalise as she only felt more embarrassed. She really needed to get a grip on her hungry soul and body, or she would end up losing her face if there was any left, to begin with.
Though Damien didn’t directly reply to Kenric’s teasing, his expression told that he wasn’t angry. He actually seemed to agree with his brother’s words as he tilted his head slightly to look at Annalise who was peaking at him from above Kenric’s shoulder.
"Enough, you both. Let’s not tease her anymore and focus on reaching Lakeshire as soon as possible." Just, as usual, it was Valerius who decided to take Annalise’s side and protect her from the other two Dark Lords.
"He always does this, first teases her along with us but then becomes her savior all of a sudden and will make two of us the villains," Kenric complained as he gave his eldest brother a very judgemental look.
The rest of the journey through the forest passed in silence and after around an hour, they finally made their way out of the forest and found themselves near long fields of crops that were spread in every direction.
"Is that Lakeshire?" Annalise asked as she pointed in the direction of a cluster of houses at the far distance on the other side of the fields. The houses stood out as they seemed to be built of red rocks and the bright color attracted attention among the greenery of nature that was present in the place.
Huge mountains loomed behind the village and several waterfalls were visible even from where they were currently present on the outskirts of the forest.
The cool breeze was filled with the sweetness of flowers and tall willow trees loomed over the houses. There were birds, squirrels, rabbits, cows, goats, sheep, chickens, cats, and dogs present in the village as they entered the beautiful place.
Lakeshire town was nothing like the Capital city of the Seelie Empire, Millerville City, or the Midnight Realm, it was almost like a little realm on its own.
"It’s way more beautiful than I imagined," Kenric whispered as he seemed to be just as surprised by the beauty of Lakeshire town as Annalise.
"Of course, this place is beautiful. After all, this is the hometown of the Mer Court."
