Chapter 111: How Shameless

"Did you guys find nothing outside?" Damien asked without even turning around to look in her direction, he just knew that it was her even without looking to confirm.

Annalise moved inside the room where Damien was searching as she replied, "Yeah, there was nothing helpful in the courtyard. However, I learned something really impressive from Kenric."

"I can tell," Damien said as he continued with his search, and while his back was facing her and his face was hidden from her, she still knew that there was a smile playing on his lips.

She stepped closer to him and came to stand beside him as she asked, "How? And why are you searching these cabinets?" Both questions were far apart from one another but she could help herself.

Damien finally stopped looking through the cabinets before he turned to face her. The smile was still playing on his lips as he moved his hands to rest over her shoulders, pulling her a little closer to him.

"How can I not when we are soulmates and have already completed our bond? Don’t you know just how deeply we are connected now? If you are sad, I’ll be sad. If you will be happy, I’ll be happy. If you will get injured, I will feel the same pain. Your fear will be mine, and so will be your strength."

He took a step closer to her, bringing the two of them even more closer. "If you will lose, I’ll lose, and if you will win, I’ll win too. We are now two bodies but one soul, Annalise."

She realized that she was holding her breath and finally let it out before taking a deep breath to fill her lungs with the much-needed oxygen. "Well... of course, I know all this..."

"Really?" Damien asked as he tilted his head to look at her face.

"We should be searching for clues." She hurriedly spoke and tried to step away from the man who was making her heart race like stupid.

However, Damien was far quicker and stronger than her, just one pull from the man and she was caged into his strong arms as her back hit his chest, and the man wrapped his arms around her. "Not so quick, wife. This place ain’t going anywhere."

Annalise stopped struggling and just relaxed in his arms. "What do you want?" She asked when the man squeezed her and buried his face in her hair. She could tell that he was a little bit on edge for some reason but she didn’t use the bond to search for the reason, instead, she decided to wait for him to reveal it on his own.

"Nothing, just let me hold for you a while." He murmured as he placed a soft kiss above her ear before once again burying his face in her hair.

She slowly raised her hands and placed them over his arms that were wrapped around her waist as she slowly turned around in his arms to face the man. "What is it, My Lord? You can tell me." Her voice was soft and filled with as much comfort as she possibly could pour into her voice.

The dark fae looked into her eyes while his own shone with a light shade of crimson. "We just completed our bond. Originally, we were supposed to spend the next two or three weeks together in each other’s company to allow our bond to flourish and reach its full potential. However, our current situation doesn’t allow for that. After spending the entire day without being able to hold you in my arms, my soul is feeling restless now."

His voice was so raw and full of emotions that all the pain, sadness, and fear that he was feeling hit her at once, almost snatching her breath away.

She took a deep breath to control the sudden burst of emotion through the bond as she cupped Damien’s face between her palms and asked, "Why didn’t I feel the same? Though there were times when I felt the need for approaching you, it was nothing like what you are feeling. Why the difference?"

"Because unlike me, you have two other mates to satiate your soul. Throughout the day, at least one of us was right beside you, touching you, holding your hands, or hugging you. We made sure to not let your soul feel the absence of attention, care, and love that it wanted. That’s why." Damien answered her question, surprising her completely.

But as Annalise recalled the memories of the entire day, she did realize that he was speaking the truth. Except for the part where she was left alone to take a bath and get ready back in the Shadow Palace, she was surrounded by all three of her husbands and at least one of them was present right beside her all the time.

A sigh left her lips as she realized just how stupid she was to ignore such a huge aspect of the soulbond. They made sure to take care of her but she did nothing to make Damien feel the same.

She immediately wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "I’m so sorry. I really am." She whispered before placing a kiss against his jawline and immediately felt him shudder a little bit as his eyes fluttered slightly at the feeling.

Being bold for a change, she placed her lips over his mouth and pulled him into a sweet but deep kiss. The man immediately responded as he kissed her back and tightened his hold around her.

Their bond flooded with sweetness and warmth as they shared a beautiful moment, one that lasted for a couple of minutes before they finally pulled away.

Damien placed a soft feathery kiss against her forehead before he once again hugged her tightly.

"I seriously want to whisk you away from here and keep you with me for as long as I can." He confessed while finally pulling away from the hug after a while.

"How shameless are you exactly to make such plans behind our back?"
