Chapter 109: Searching For Clues

Annalise took a deep breath before she closed her eyes and concentrated on the powers that were sleeping inside her body. It responded almost immediately, surfacing at her signal and preparing to perform whatever magic she wanted.

She sensed Valerius doing the same thing beside her and a cool but beautiful feeling cascaded down her body as their bond fluttered with their powers and allowed her to feel the essence of his energy just like that time in the library.

She felt her own powers reacting to his and turning just as cold as his powers to the point that both their powers almost started to feel alike. It was hard telling which strand of power essence running through their bond belonged to her and which one belonged to him.

Once again, she felt something incredible happening with her powers that she never knew was even possible in the first place. It was a very different feeling but one that made her feel incredible inside out. She allowed the same entrance to Valerius’ powers in their bond as he had allowed to hers, and immediately felt something deeper blooming between them.

She felt Valerius preparing for the spell and she hurried to match his speed. She recalled all that she experienced that day in the library while he let her feel his power working on the transformation spell. She recalled that feeling, the sensation as the power essence used the magical molecules in the air and used them to make the transformation possible.

She imagined the burning flames slowly converting into bright moonstones that would illuminate the entire Portal Hall. The power shot out of her palms that she had stretched out at some point and entered the three of the five flames before everything around her returned to calmness.

She barely opened her eyes when a pair of lips sealed her mouth in a deep and hot kiss that left her weak in her knees. Her hands immediately went to rest against his shoulder and chest as she allowed him to pull her into his arms.

His cold body pressed against her warm one and his cold hands slid across her neck and shoulder as he deepened the kiss while slipping his tongue inside her mouth. The kiss seemed to be saying something to her and she felt his happiness and other emotions radiating through their bond way stronger than ever before.

It was only when she focused a little bit on their bond did she realize what was happening - they had completed the second stage of their soulmate bond. The trust that they showed in each other with their powers, allowed them to build their bond on a much deeper level than the initiation stage.

She immediately pulled away from the kiss so that she could look at Valerius’ face and she found his eyes brimming with emotions. "Thank you..." He whispered as he pulled her into a tight hug. "... thank you for trusting me, Annalise."

She buried her face into his chest as she slipped her hands around his waist and returned the hug. She felt another warm feeling inside her and realized that it belonged to Damien, he was also adding his powers to hers and Valerius’ but at the same time, he didn’t try to invade their moment.

"How much I wish to be back in our castle so that I can spend some time alone with you." He whispered next to her ear before placing a soft kiss on the tip of her ear that sent soft cool sparks running down her ear and made her garb his robe in her fingers.

She took a deep breath of his scent before she finally pulled away from the hug and stepped back to put a little distance between them. Damien and Kenric were silently standing on the side as they tried to interfere.

Her gaze found the five brightly shining moonstones and a small smile appeared on her lips. "How about we get our work here done as soon as possible so that we can take a break for the night? I will love to have a warm dinner and a good night’s sleep."

The men moved almost immediately as if they had been waiting for her to say that. "Where are we going to start from?" Kenric asked as he looked around the area inside the hall.

"Let’s split up and search different areas so that we can be done as early as possible," Valerius responded as he directed both his brothers to different directions of the place. Annalise decided to accompany Kenric as he was going to search the outside.

The two of them headed outside and two of the moonstones immediately followed them while the other three remained inside with Valerius and Damien.

A loud moving voice in the bushes in the courtyard made Annalise jump closer to Kenric who immediately wrapped his hands around her while taking out a sword that appeared in his hand with a bright red glow.

"I didn’t know you use a sword." She said as she admired the beautiful and magnificent-looking artifact in her husband’s hand.

Kenric made her stand behind him as he looked around reg bushes and only after he made sure that there was nothing more than a rat hiding there, he finally returned to her side and the sword disappeared from his hand.

"Sword isn’t my first choice and I rarely use it." He answered her question as he took hold of her hand and started walking in the other direction. Maybe searching the area in the darkness of the night wasn’t really the best idea, not only because it was making her feel creepy from the inside but also because it was hard to make sure that they won’t miss out on anything that could possibly help them with their investigation.

"Then what is your first choice?" She found herself asking as she looked around the area.

Kenric let out a small chuckle as he responded, "I would love to say that it’s you, however, the correct answer are these..."
