Chapter 108: Back To The Portal Hall

Annalise struggled with all the items that she was holding in her hands, or more like managing not to drop. Her husbands didn’t hold back while buying stuff for her, everything that caught their eyes and made them think that she would like, they bought it.

There were candies and various sorts of other snacks that really looked mouth-watering. Then there were some jewelry sets, rouge, a beautiful hand fan made of peacock feathers, and lastly, a little cute rabbit lantern.

They had already arrived outside the Portal Hall after crossing the entire market street but not once did even one of her three husbands offered their help to carry the items. All the happiness that she felt when they were buying things for her, disappeared on her way to Portal Hall.

She was so deep in her self-pity that she didn’t notice where she was heading and ended up bumping against the solid back of Damien. The man was quick in his actions as he immediately turned around and wrapped one of his hands around her waist, pulling her into his arms before she could have stepped away.

He looked down at the items in her arms and then returned his attention to her face before asking, "Your hands must be hurting, right?"

Annalise immediately nodded her head, thinking that at least one of her husbands realized what she had gone through while holding all those stuff for such a long time. However, her happiness was short-lived as Damien’s next words left her totally baffled.

The man turned to look at Valerius and Kenric who weren’t standing too far away, as he spoke, "See! I told you both that her physical state is even worse than her magical one. As for her mental power..." He returned his attention to her as he finished the sentence, "... she lacks it too when really needed."

Annalise stared at her husband in pure surprise and then hurriedly pulled away from his arms as she asked, "What do you mean?" His words were really mean and she would be lying if she said that she wasn’t offended at all.

"I’m just stating the facts," Damien replied as he started taking the items from her arms along with the magical pouch that was hanging on her waist. "The distance from the market area to this place was barely half an hour long, still your weak body wasn’t able to handle just that." He said while putting the bag of jewelry inside the pouch.

"You didn’t use any spell to get yourself out of the discomfort either because you didn’t know one, or you couldn’t recall one." He added while putting the fan inside the pouch too before he returned the pouch to her.

"Most importantly, you had this pouch with you and you still didn’t use it to store at least half of the items that weren’t needed right at this moment. Would you still like to argue with what I just told them?" Though he wasn’t talking to her coldly and neither was his voice loud, he still succeeded in making Annalise feel intimidated.

She just silently hung the pouch once again on her waist but didn’t dare to either look at Damien or speak anything. A voice inside her head was telling her that apologizing won’t help her either but there was nothing else she could think of to say.

She suddenly felt the presence of Valerius and Kenric beside her and it finally made her look up at her husbands. Kenric took hold of one of her hands and gave it a light squeeze. "It’s all right, Little Bird. From now on, I will teach all my tricks and ideas. Let’s see who will dare to mess up with you in the future." He was almost challenging his second brother, something that he enjoyed doing almost all the time.

"That doesn’t sound like a good idea. You alone are enough for us to deal with, we don’t want our Annalise to turn out like you too." Damien responded as he tightened his hold on Annalise’s waist, reminding her in the process that she was still in his arms and almost pressed against his body.

"We should go inside. Even though there isn’t anyone here right now, we still can’t be so reckless." She said while trying to pull out of Damien’s hold but the man didn’t allow her. However, the good thing was that they all agreed with her.

Even though they were married, her situation was quite complicated as she had not one but three husbands, something that would easily get frowned upon when seen by the local people. Besides, even if she was only married to one man and still someone saw them being so intimate in the middle of a street, the criticisms and judgments would still follow.

The four of them entered the Portal Hall which was filled with complete darkness. Valerius moved closer to where she was standing next to Damien before he softly whispered next to her ear. "Come and help me in creating a few moonstones."

"Moonstones?" She asked as Damien finally retracted his hand from her waist and allowed her to step away from him. "But there’s no light..." She trailed off as suddenly several small flames of burning fire suddenly appeared in thin air. She turned to look at Kenric who gave her a little wink before he stepped away to give her and Valerius enough space to perform the spells.

"You do remember the spell, right?" Valerius asked as he made her stand next to him while five flames of fire hung in the air right in front of them.

"I think I do." She replied as she recalled the memory of learning the spell from Valerius in the library. It was one of those few experiences that were stored in her brain permanently. It was the first time she realized that magic and spells could be felt on such a deeper level, and she loved that feeling.
