Chapter 73: I’ll reduce you to ashes, alive

"Princess Alora, please stay away from a couple’s matter," said Eugene.

Alora brought her hands to the back of her head to open her blindfold. Magnus didn’t stop her, however, Izaak told him to ask Alora not to do so.

"It is her first time speaking up. Let her handle it," Magnus whispered close to Izaak’s ear.

Eugene had to lower his gaze as Alora’s eyes were naked. "This matter is no longer private, Eugene. Venus will not stay with you from now onward. You are free to live with your mate, who is also your mistress," Alora’s voice was tinged with a taunt.

Eugene turned his gaze at Magnus. "I urge Prince Magnus to ask his wife to not intervene in my affair with Venus."

"I cannot. Your bad deeds are revealed. Why keep Venus alongside you when you can have your fated mate? Free Venus from such a marriage," Magnus advised him.

Eugene chuckled, disregarding the advice, and beckoned, "Venus, step forward." Venus swiftly sought refuge behind Alora, her head drooping in fear. Eugene got irritated with her reaction and he decided to use the mind-linkage on her.

"[Come forth, Venus!]" His wolf conveyed directly to Venus through their mental connection.

Venus couldn’t resist the alpha’s command and reluctantly moved forward. Alora gripped her hand tightly, puzzled by her sister’s behavior. Despite Venus’s inner resistance, her body seemed compelled to obey Eugene’s directive.

"Venus, please stop!" Alora pleaded, but Venus responded,

"I cannot," her steps inexorably drawing her closer to Eugene.

"Don’t test me, Eugene," Alora declared, her voice laced with menace, "or I’ll reduce you to ashes, alive." Her eyes blazed with a brilliant blue light, stunning Magnus and Izaak. They had always known her as a kind and gentle soul, but now they witnessed a formidable power emanating from her.

Eugene swallowed hard, realizing the gravity of the situation, and swiftly disconnected the mind linkage. He was well aware of the power behind Alora’s intense gaze and didn’t dare to challenge it, knowing his life hung in the balance.

"Remove the mark from my sister’s neck," Alora demanded, her voice dripping with menace, "or I’ll be forced to take actions I’ve never considered before." Recalling Venus’s earlier say to take her own life if Eugene would not free her, Alora’s fear had transformed into determination to save her younger sister. It prompted her to resort to her existing power to confront Eugene.

"I never knew Alora could give threats too," Izaak murmured.

Magnus smiled as he was proud of Alora. She finally learned how to make people bow in from of her.

Eugene clenched his fists as he found himself in a tough spot. He thought Venus would not defy him after how he yesterday confronted her. But his attempts were futile.

"Eugene, if you don’t have to say anything, then you should leave. Werewolves are not allowed to come here. You have to divorce Venus since she doesn’t want to live as your wife," Magnus said in a cold tone. For Alora, he decided to speak or else, he had no interest in protecting Venus.

"And remove that mark from Venus now," Alora sternly said.

"Reject her," Magnus commanded Eugene.

"I reject you, Venus Wilson. Accept my rejection," said Eugene as she peered at Venus with an annoying look.

"I accept your rejection, Eugene Sinclair!" Venus pronounced. The mark shone on her neck and it disappeared instantly.

Eugene’s silence spoke volumes as he departed, leaving a tense atmosphere in his wake. Alora exchanged a knowing glance with Magnus, her brows furrowing slightly in concern.

"I’ll escort Venus home," Alora declared, her voice softer now as she lowered her gaze.

"I’ll accompany your sister. You stay here," Izaak offered, gesturing for Venus to enter the carriage. Grateful for Alora’s intervention, Venus thanked her profusely before stepping into the carriage with Izaak.

As they rode away in the carriage, Magnus placed a comforting hand on Alora’s shoulder, their eyes locking in a moment of understanding. "You were truly impressive back there," he praised while offering her a reassuring smile.

Alora sighed, feeling conflicted. "I didn’t want to resort to such harsh remarks with Eugene. But I had to protect Venus," she confessed, her tone heavy with regret.

"You shouldn’t blame yourself for doing what was necessary," Magnus reassured her gently. "Your actions were justified. Seeing this assertive side of you filled my heart with joy," he added, emphasizing his support for her.

"Shall we go in?" Magnus asked her.

"Hmm." She nodded at him. "Thank you for demanding rejection from Eugene for Venus. I am shocked to know that werewolves can actually compel their wives," Alora stated.

"They are granted such a power from the Moon Goddess," Magnus said.

"Then, it’s bad," Alora opined. "They make their wives submit," she mumbled.

"Alora, why don’t we test your eyes?" Magnus suddenly suggested to her, which she hadn’t anticipated. Her feet slowly came to a halt, and so were his.

"What do you mean?" Alora inquired, puzzled by Magnus’s statement.

"We need to determine if your ability to incinerate others works for everyone or if it targets only those with ill intentions towards you," Magnus clarified, outlining their need for clarity.

"I’m not sure I’m prepared to conduct such a test," Alora admitted truthfully, her reluctance evident.

Magnus nodded understandingly, knowing Alora’s compassionate nature. Unlike himself, she harbored a deep sense of empathy and would struggle with the guilt of taking a life, even if it were justified.

"Your Highness, tonight is the blood moon. Do you think Eugene can harm my sister? Could you please ask any of your men to be around my house? I don’t trust Eugene and I cannot lose my sister," Alora made a request to him.

Magnus agreed after giving it a thought. "I will ask Gabriel and Odin to be present there." Those were old vampires and their ability to keep this blood thirst in control was strong.

"Thank you, Your Highness."

"Don’t be. I can do anything for you. You know well that you are my weakness," Magnus stated.

"Weakness not a strength?" Alora arched her eyebrows.

"Correction. You are both," Magnus said and pecked her lips, making her blush with a smile.
