Chapter 71: Use your eyes and burn him
As Magnus and Izaak strode into the hall, they were met by Harris, who wasted no time in offering his apologies. "Your Highness, I was unaware that one day Princess Alora would be wedded to you. In my misguided attempt to protect all of us, I ordered the attack on the caravan."
Magnus’s hand shot out, seizing Harris by the throat, his thumb applying pressure to his neck. "So, you admit your wrongdoing. How dare you violate the sanctity of my territory by sending a werewolf? You have flagrantly disregarded the rules, Harris," he snarled, his eyes ablaze with a fiery red hue, and his fangs bared in a menacing display.
"Prince Magnus, I beg for your mercy," Harris pleaded. As he spoke, the veins on his pale skin became visible. He reached out his hand and also managed to grasp Magnus’s wrist. However, Magnus’s strength proved overwhelming against his feeble resistance.
"Magnus, you promised Alora you would take a wise decision," Izaak intervened and pulled back Magnus’s hand. He stood between them, and placed his hands on Magnus’s shoulders to calm him down.
Harris, on the other hand, panted while keeping his hand on his throat. He had heard of Magnus’s aggression, and now, he finally witnessed it.
"Princess Alora was unharmed that day, Your Highness. We are vampires. We cannot fight because of a human," Harris said as he tried reminding Magnus that he couldn’t take the life of a noble vampire just because of a human.
Izaak turned to gaze at him, gesturing to Harris to stay quiet.
"Harris, don’t push me to rip your heart off your chest," Magnus said as he pushed away Izaak. "You sent a rogue werewolf to attack the humans. Do you think the peace is maintained among us species because of our authority and strength over them?" he questioned him.
Harris lowered his eyes and gulped in fear.
"Your one action made me doubt the werewolves. You know well how the territories are marked between vampires and werewolves. If this matter goes out, what do you think will happen?" Magnus demanded answers from him.
"Forgive me, Your Highness. I acted naively," Harris apologized once again.
"You will be punished for what you have done. Your explanation doesn’t satisfy me either," Magnus announced his decision and went to the sofa. He sat on it while Izaak wondered what Magnus would do.
"You won’t be given any blood for two weeks," Magnus announced the punishment and glanced at Tobias. "Lock him in the dungeon and tell his father about the wrongdoing of his son," he instructed.
"I will die with no blood," Harris said in desperation, "your highness."
"Then, bring those humans back from the dead. You can’t do that, can you?" Magnus glared at him. "Try surviving. You made the mistake of playing with me," he stated.
Harris gazed at Izaak asking him for help.
"This is the best punishment I have given you, Harris. Brother Izaak asked me not to kill you and that is what I have done," Magnus pronounced.
Tobias acted on the command and Harris was taken away.
Izaak pivoted on the heels of his long boots. "Father will summon you soon because Harris’s father will not let his son stay in the dungeon," he asserted.
"I scared Harris. I will keep him there for 2-3 days. He should feel the pain of dying," Magnus opined. "Also, since when Brother Izaak started showing sympathy for the others?"
Izaak rolled his eyes. "I am trying to maintain the peace," he corrected Magnus and took a seat across from him. "Why is Venus here? She was on her knees."
"She needs help from Alora," Magnus replied. "Eugene has a mate whom he will keep as a mistress while Venus will stay as his wife in the name only. However, I doubt her intentions," he briefed Magnus.
"Didn’t you read her mind?" Izaak questioned him.
"I did," Magnus replied.
"You are not interested in helping her, but Alora will somehow convince you to help Venus," Izaak said with a chuckle. "Alora controls you well," he muttered.
"I won’t agree this time," Magnus stated.
"We will see soon," said Izaak with a smirk.

"Did you arrive here without informing your in-laws?" Alora queried.
"Yes, I did. I have no desire to return to that place. Eugene frightens me. I had no idea werewolf aggression could be so intense," Venus admitted, recalling the harrowing experience of Eugene’s attempt to dominate her. Despite not being his mate, he had marked her and coerced her to remain under his compelling influence.
"Prince Magnus is a vampire and except for him, no one can fight Eugene. That’s why I have come to you instead of going home. Alora, I gave you so much pain. Now, I realize what it feels like to be neglected." Tears trickled down Venus’s cheeks.
"Venus, don’t cry," Alora urged her. This was the fourth time she wept since the time they had been talking to each other.
"Alora, what if Prince Magnus refuses to help me? I will end my life then. I cannot live with Eugene," Venus murmured as her body trembled in fear.
"Don’t say that, Venus. If not, Prince Magnus, then I will ask Brother Izaak and Brother Alaric for help," Alora asserted. She didn’t wish to upset Magnus, so she decided taking help from the other princes would not anger Magnus.
"I wonder if they will help me or not. My in-laws have already started blaming me. If the news leaks out, Father will be humiliated for no reason. And Mother will be upset too. I have never imagined my life would take such a bad turn. Alora, I am scared of everything now," Venus said, shedding more tears.
"Nothing will happen, Venus. Trust me. I will do everything to save you from Eugene," Alora said sternly this time. Venus sniffled as she stopped weeping. She truly wanted to believe Alora, but a strange fear had engulfed her.
Eugene Alpha’s form was dangerous. He had even killed many werewolves to become the supreme alpha of his pack. "Alora, why don’t you use your eyes and burn him?" Venus suggested to her.
"I can’t do that, Venus," Alora refused to do so.
"Why? Your eyes are to burn such men. Just burn all of them," Venus stated. "I must have lost my mind to say such nonsense. Please forgive me," she murmured and wiped the tears from her cheeks with her trembling hands.
Selvina decided to inform Magnus about it and silently left the room.
