Chapter 70: He has a mate, Alora

Chapter 70: He has a mate, Alora

"Who fights like that with his own elder brother? Prince Magnus could have talked calmly with Brother Izaak. Whatever he said wasn’t wrong either," Alora scolded Magnus for not thinking once before attacking Izaak.

She turned around with a glass of water in her hand. "Why is His Highness silent now?" Shouldn’t he explain himself?" She peered into his eyes, demanding an explanation.

"Izaak was the wrong one there, so we ended up fighting," Magnus said.

"It’s hard to believe a 300-year-old vampire acted like a kid," Alora taunted him and drank the water. As she sat the glass on the table, she told Magnus he needed to keep his anger in control.

"My anger was in control, that’s why Izaak didn’t bleed," Magnus muttered.

"Your Highness, how could you speak in such a way? Please refrain from using such words for your own big brother," she urged. While she knew that Magnus reacted in such a way because Izaak asked him to not punish Harris Klement.

"Alora, let’s end the debate on this. I am in no mood to talk about Isaak," Magnus said as he leaned back on the recliner. They both heard a knock on the door, followed by Selvina’s voice.

"Your Highness, someone is here to see Princess Alora."

Both of them glanced at each other when Magnus made his way out. Alora followed him and found out an unknown woman wanted to see her. "Bring her here," Magnus instructed Selvina, who bowed and walked away.

"Who could come to see me? Except for my family, I don’t know anyone," Alora said, feeling anxious.

"We will find out after we see her," Magnus replied and saw her wearing the blindfold. He took her to the sofa and made her sit on it while he himself took a seat next to her.

Selvina entered the living room with the woman, gesturing for her to proceed. Magnus’s gaze shifted to the woman, and his eyes widened in astonishment as she removed her hood, revealing her identity.

"Why are you here, Venus? How dare you show your face to me?" Magnus’s mood soured instantly. After the altercation with Izaak, he was already in a foul mood, and Venus’s unexpected presence only added to his frustration.

"Venus!" Alora quickly left her seat to hear that she was the one who wanted to see her.

Magnus pulled her down, holding her hand tightly. "Leave before I have to kick you out," he ordered with scrunched brows.

"Your Highness, please don’t say that. Let’s hear out what Venus has to say," Alora requested him.

"There is nothing left to hear. Take her away from my sight," Magnus commanded Selvina, asking Alora to stay quiet.

Venus lifted her gown slightly before sinking to her knees. "I beg for Prince Magnus’s forgiveness, and that of my sister’s too. I realize I’ve made a terrible mistake. I should have listened to Alora and..." Her voice faltered as tears welled up in her eyes.

Despite Venus’s pleading, Magnus remained unmoved. He had little to no faith in her sincerity, knowing her propensity for deception. Meanwhile, Alora’s compassionate nature compelled her to consider helping her sister.

"No, Alora. We will let her suffer. I won’t aid Venus," Magnus declared firmly, preempting any request for assistance from Alora.

Alora was quick to remove her blindfold. She peered at her husband and said, "Don’t say that, Magnus. Can’t you hear my sister is suffering?" Alora got anxious. She wished to go to Venus and hug her, but Magnus didn’t let her.

"I suffered too when Venus said such harsh words to you. I’ll be upset with you if you ask me to help your evil sister," Magnus stated and tilted his head to look at Venus with a grim expression on his face.

"Prince Magnus, I have to say that, or else Eugene might have harmed me later," Venus said, presenting her stance to them.

"What about the time you treated Alora in the worst possible way? You even wished for her death, didn’t you?" Magnus frowned at her. "You married in that family with your sole decision. So, you need to find a way on your own or take the help of your father," he advised Venus and stood up to walk away.

"Your Highness, for my sake please listen to Venus once. I beg you," Alora pleaded with him this time as she held his hand.

"Harris has come, Magnus!" Izaak entered the living room when he was surprised to see the scene before him. Venus’s presence left him stunned.

Magnus gazed at Alora, his tone firm as he spoke, "For your sake and well-being, I will not aid Venus. Send her away before I return, or I won’t speak to you."

He knew he had to take a strict stance this time, prioritizing his wife’s safety and happiness over any sentiment towards Venus, whom he recognized as inherently malevolent.

With a decisive motion, Magnus withdrew his hand and exited the living room, with Izaak trailing behind.

Venus let out a resigned sigh, acknowledging the consequences of her past actions catching up with her. Meanwhile, Alora observed Venus’s subdued demeanor and, without hesitation, she covered her eyes with the blindfold before beckoning Venus to approach her.

"Tell me everything. I will do everything to save you, Venus. I will make sure Prince Magnus agrees to help you," Alora declared with unwavering determination, her heart filled with compassion for her sister. She instructed Selvina to assist Venus in reaching the sofa, where they could converse more comfortably.

Venus rose from the floor, her gratitude evident as she approached Alora. Taking a seat on the sofa opposite her sister, Venus expressed her thanks for Alora’s kindness and willingness to listen to her.

"I always hated you, Alora. But in the end, I came to you seeking your help. No one can save me from the werewolves except for you. I was wrong that day. I wish I had listened to you," Venus confessed through her tears, her admission stirring a mix of emotions within Alora.

Concern etched across her features, Alora gently inquired, "What did Eugene do to you?"

"He has a mate, Alora, and he wishes to bring her home. Because Eugene’s mate doesn’t belong to a good family, he will keep her as his mistress. I am merely a wife for him to flaunt his social status to those around him," Venus revealed between sobs while showing her anguish with her words.
