Chapter 64: Back to the residence
Magnus pressed his finger against Alora’s lips and asked her to not speak about Venus anymore. "We don’t have to do anything with those wolves," he stated with annoyance.
As he withdrew his finger, Alora asked him how would they tell them about Venus’s family truth to their parents.
"Did you not hear Eugene? He said it was their personal matter. So, I will tell your grandmother and mother to talk to Venus by themselves. We aren’t going to meddle in their family. And you have to listen to me. Don’t make me compel you to follow my order," Magnus affirmed and went ahead of her.
Alora sighed and followed him inside. To her surprise, her father and brother had returned from work after hearing about Venus’s disappearance. But soon, she learned that they had returned from Venus’s in-laws home.
"Your Highness, you and Alora returned late," said Madam Aubrey as they all left their seats. Norman and Elliot greeted them with a respectful gesture.
Rhea came to Alora and asked her how Venus looked.
"Did Norman not tell you?" Magnus questioned and glanced at him. "Why don’t you tell your wife and mother that your daughter is no longer sane enough? All she does is an insult. I feel like hanging her to death every time she disrespects Alora," he blurted out and took away Alora from there.
Rhea was shocked to see the angry Magnus and gazed at her husband.
"To us, she looked normal. I think Venus didn’t like Alora’s involvement in her family matter. Also, Venus hadn’t run away from the house. She wanted to be alone after she had an argument with Eugene," Norman stated.
"But the news has spread in the entire city. How are we supposed to answer the people? Can Venus not handle her household?" Madam Aubrey showed concern and told Norman to bring Venus home tomorrow.
"Mother, that is not a good idea. People will talk more about us," Norman asserted.
"Isn’t it a big matter that Venus left the home early in the morning because of an argument? Are they treating her well? My Lord, do you think we should neglect it?" Rhea questioned her husband.
"Father and I made sure that Eugene would not upset Venus anymore. Also, Venus asked us not to send Alora there with Prince Magnus. Sister Alora did something there, which had angered her," Elliot informed them after assuring his mother that Venus was doing well.
Norman sat down on the couch. "Venus didn’t like Alora’s involvement in her family matter. Rhea, you need to make sure Alora stays away from Venus. She has her own family, where she should focus more," he opined.
"Alora must be concerned for Venus as her elder sister," Rhea stated.
"Her concern doesn’t matter to Venus," Norman replied. "If you had sent away Alora far from here at a young age, our other two kids’ lives would have been much better," he remarked.
"My Lord, Venus’s and Elliot’s lives were never affected by Alora. They both started hating her because you and Mother always created that environment. We all did so much wrong to her, yet she never used her eyes powers on us," Rhea stated and urged her husband not to speak ill of Alora anymore. "She has come here and it will upset her that her father still despises her," Rhea muttered.
Madam Aubrey told her son not to take anger on Alora since Magnus was also present in the house.
Magnus, who had come out to ask Rhea to send meals for Alora heard their entire conversation. He decided not to keep Alora here since they all were her enemies, except for Rhea.
He had held himself together because of Alora. "Norman, I told you to treat my wife well. But you always forgot that. I now realize why Venus spews poison whenever she speaks with Alora because her father taught her all that." He entered the living room, grabbing everyone’s attention to him.
"You are lucky that I cannot kill you all. Except for my mother-in-law, no one cares for my wife. Alora is a nice child and a sister, who takes every humiliation without doing anything. However, I am much worse than you all think." Magnus’s words were intimidating as they left a wave of fear in all of them.
"Your Highness, I didn’t mean to–"
Magnus didn’t let him finish his words. "Just shut your mouth, Norman." He then looked at Rhea and said, "I’m taking Alora back to our residence. If she stays here, Norman might kill her." With that, he left for the room.
Norman told Rhea he would apologize to the Vampire Prince.
"That will only escalate his anger," Rhea said with a disappointed gaze at her husband.
On the other side, in Alora’s room, Magnus asked her to come with him.
"Huh? Where?" Alora put her feet down on the floor.
"To the residence. I think we should stay around each other," Magnus replied.
"Really?" Alora was happy that Magnus wanted to let her stay around him and she rose to her feet. "Will His Highness not lose his senses?" she asked in a teasing tone.
"Even if I will, I don’t think I will harm you. After all, you can tame me with your eyes," Magnus stated.
Alora smiled and ran to him. She wrapped her arms around him. "Of course! My eyes are magical for you," she stated and lifted her head to look at him.
"Yes, they are! Alora, I want to do many things for you," Magnus said while running his thumbs on her cheeks.
"Mmm... You have already done a lot for me," Alora replied as she slowly dropped her hands down.
"No. I have not. Let’s go back before the evening falls," Magnus opined.
"Sure."
They held each other’s hands and went out of the room, where Rhea encountered them.
"Mother, we should return," Alora murmured, avoiding eye contact with Rhea.
"It’s for the best," Rhea replied gently, placing her hand on Alora’s head and offering her blessing. "Remember, you can always call on me whenever you need me."
With a brief glance at Magnus, Rhea excused herself. "I’ve prepared some sweets for Alora. I’ll fetch them from the kitchen and bring them to the carriage," she informed before making her way to the kitchen.
As they finally settled in the coach, the carriage moved back to the palace. The sun had already set and the carriage was moving at its full speed.
Alora kept her gaze out of the window as she enjoyed the night view. Her eyes moved to the sky, where she could see the moon, glowing bright and much larger than yesterday.
Startled by a distant howl, she turned to Magnus, her fear evident in her eyes. "Was that a werewolf?" she asked anxiously.
"Hmm, the Blood Moon cycle begins tonight. The moon will appear much larger than usual before taking its full shape," Magnus explained calmly, reassuring her.
Abruptly, the carriage jerked to a halt, causing Alora to nearly lose her balance. Magnus swiftly steadied her, preventing her from falling.
