Chapter 58: Power to control anyone
"I don’t understand Prince Izaak," Alora said and turned to face him. "During the day, he and I became friends. However, now, Prince Izaak is only scaring me. Does he hate me this much? He can say it on my face," she opined.
Izaak didn’t anticipate such a kind of response from her. Not to mention, Alora seemed unbothered by what he shared with her about Magnus.
"I don’t hate you, Alora," Izaak stated. "I didn’t lie anything to you till now. Whatever I told you so far was truth," he affirmed.
"Hmm. I trust Brother Izaak," Alora confessed truthfully. "I did offer my blood to my husband, but he doesn’t wish to drink from me," she revealed, her concern for Magnus lingering internally. However, she knew expressing it to Izaak wouldn’t yield any positive outcome.
"Good night, Brother Izaak. I’m feeling sleepy," she concluded their conversation on a positive note, then called for Selvina.
Selvina returned to the living room and escorted Alora to her chamber. Alora thanked her and insisted she also get some rest. "I’ll see you in the morning," Alora said kindly.
Selvina bowed and left, closing the doors behind her.
Alora removed the blindfold from her eyes and let out a sigh. "Will Prince Magnus really kill humans tonight?" she wondered, recalling how humans seemed more frightened of Magnus than the other royal vampires.
"But it’s not his fault. Magnus needs blood, and that’s why he’s gone out," Alora reassured herself as she sat near the foot of the bed. Leaning her head against the bedpost, she waited anxiously for Magnus.
An hour passed with no sign of Magnus. Only one lamp was glowing in the bedchamber now. Alora rose from her seat and approached the doors. She was about to open them, when suddenly Magnus appeared before her. His eyes were red like blood, his fangs protruding. One side of his lips was stained with blood.
"Magnus!" Alora pronounced his name with concern and held him by his arms.
"I drank from many," Magnus said while smiling and pulled her into a possessive hug. "But I’m unable to forget your blood taste." He inhaled her scent, his fingers tracing the length of her neck as he could sense the fresh blood traversing through her veins.
Alora was bewildered to see such a sight of her husband. The approaching Blood Moon definitely affected him more than the others. She felt his cold fingers on her neck, wondering if he wanted the blood from her.
Pushing him away gently, Alora reached out her thumb to his lips and wiped the blood from them. "You can drink my blood. However, there is a condition," Alora said.
"Condition? I don’t follow anything. I do what I like," Magnus replied and held her wrist. He sucked her thumb on which blood was present.
"Then, what is it that stopping you, Magnus?" Alora questioned him. She turned to her left, exposing her neck to him as she pushed her hair to her right side. "I suppose my blood can satiate your hunger," she stated.
"You will die once I start," Magnus pronounced, showing he was still in his senses. "I killed many outside tonight," he said and gulped. He held his head, feeling thirsty. "Don’t come near me for two days. I will ask Tobias to send you to your parental house," he asserted.
The moment Alora turned to look at him, he had disappeared. "How should I stop him?" she thought and quickly grabbed the lamp from the table.
Since she was still in her formal attire, she exited the chamber to find Magnus. However, she kept in mind to keep her gaze down while walking.
As Alora descended the staircase, and looked around the living room, she could not spot Magnus. "Did he go outside again?" Alora murmured.
Alora swiftly moved down the stairs, thus accidentally skipping one stair, causing her to fall. However, at the right time, Magnus saved her by catching her in his arms. The lamp though fell on the floor and it broke down.
As Magnus helped her stand, he scolded her gently for not listening to him.
"I was worried. Stay with me tonight. I’m not letting you out of my sight," Alora said, tightly embracing him. "Don’t hold back from feeding on me. I understand it’s a torment for you for not getting what you desire," she murmured, showing understanding towards his current condition.
Magnus fisted his palms, controlling himself. His pupils grew larger and he gently pushed her away. The moment he peered into her glowing eyes something magical happened and Magnus found his blood craving came to an end. He didn’t know why that happened, but his mind was now calm.
He cupped her face between his palms, startling her as he bore his gaze at hers.
"Wh-what happened?" Alora stuttered.
"Why did your eyes glow?" Magnus asked.
"Pardon?" Alora was unable to understand him.
"Your eyes shone a moment ago," he said as he realized even his fangs were no longer out. "I don’t feel thirsty anymore," Magnus confessed to her.
Alora rubbed her eyes, thinking if something was wrong with them. But Magnus stopped her. "Don’t do that. You will make them red," he said out of concern.
"Are they still glowing? I think His Highness saw something wrong," Alora chuckled as she smiled.
However, Magnus remained silent. He realized why did that happen. Alora’s eyes had the power to control anyone. "You are magical, Alora. You know how to control the supernatural beings," he said with a smile.
Alora was puzzled to hear his words. "I think you need rest," she mumbled.
Magnus chuckled and kissed her, thus taking her by a surprise. She withdrew telling him anyone could come to the living room.
"Who cares?" Magnus drew her close by wrapping his arm on her waist and kissed her deeply this time. In that moment, he felt a sense of peace as the troubling thoughts regarding blood suddenly ceased in his mind.
