Chapter 373: Ambermoon Festival 6
When Odin asked that, a flicker of annoyance sparked in Venus, but she quickly chose to respond with calm composure. "How am I supposed to do that? I don’t know any women from your kind, except for a few," she stated, trying to keep her tone even.
"Who said I’m only interested in vampires?" Odin replied with a casual shrug.
Venus narrowed her eyes playfully. "So, would you be happy to take a woman from the werewolf community?" she teased, a smirk tugging at her lips.
Odin’s expression shifted slightly, his tone firm. "Exclude them."
Venus raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Then, humans?"
Odin pondered for a moment, his lips curling into a thoughtful smile. "Humans aren’t bad after all," he conceded.
Venus crossed her arms, looking at him with a mix of disbelief and amusement. "But you already fancy one woman. Are you planning to cheat on her?" she tsked, shaking her head in mock disapproval.
Odin chuckled at her reaction, enjoying the banter. "Cheating isn’t exactly what I had in mind. But I think it’s interesting how you’re so concerned about this," he said, his eyes gleaming with mischief.
Venus shot him a look, her annoyance resurfacing slightly. "You’re impossible, Odin. First, you say you’ve found someone, and now you’re open to other possibilities? I don’t understand you at all," she muttered while crossing her arms across her chest.
Venus squinted her eyes at Odin for a moment, her gaze sharp and probing, before she turned away and took a step forward, distancing herself from him.
"Don’t you want a vampire to fancy you?" Odin called after her, his voice carrying a teasing edge.
Venus paused, her back still turned to him. "Not anymore, not after you forcefully kissed me," she muttered.
Odin’s brows knitted together as he processed her words. The idea that she felt he had forced the kiss on her stung more than he expected. "It was a mere peck," he corrected gently, trying to downplay the moment.
"But I never allowed you to do it," Venus replied, her voice firm but quiet, as if admitting something she had kept inside for a while.
"You didn’t exactly hate it, though," Odin countered with a soft tone.
"How do you know?" Venus rolled her eyes, trying to dismiss his words.
"Because you were bothered by it," Odin replied, his tone confident. "You couldn’t fall asleep because of that one kiss I gave you. And if I recall correctly, your heart started beating faster for me in that moment." He didn’t hesitate to speak his mind, knowing his words would stir up Venus’s emotions once more.
Venus lowered her gaze, feigning ignorance. "It didn’t happen. Don’t imagine things," she muttered, trying to brush off his observation, even as her mind spun in chaos.
Before Odin could respond, a group of children ran past them, excitedly shouting, "The firecracker show is going to start soon!" Venus’s attention immediately shifted, and she followed the children with Odin by her side, heading towards the riverbank where the show would take place.
As they arrived, Odin noticed the way Venus’s eyes sparkled with curiosity and anticipation for the upcoming display. He, on the other hand, felt indifferent about the event but chose to stay by her side, his usual disinterest overshadowed by a desire to be near her.
Watching her excitement, Odin found himself silently content, realizing that her happiness had become more important to him than he would ever openly admit.
As the first firecracker burst into the night sky, the darkness was instantly shattered by brilliant sparkles of light, painting the sky in golden colors. Venus’s eyes widened in awe, and a joyful smile spread across her face. She lifted her hands, clapping along with the crowd, her enthusiasm infectious.
Around her, people cheered loudly, their voices mingling with the crackling of the fireworks. Some whistled, others shouted in excitement, the collective energy of the crowd adding to the spectacle.
Beside her, Odin watched her reaction more than the fireworks. The way her face lit up with pure delight, the childlike wonder in her eyes—it was a sight he found more mesmerizing than the show itself. For a moment, he allowed himself to be drawn into her world, where everything seemed brighter, more alive.
The show lasted for about ten minutes, each second filled with an explosion of light and sound that reverberated through the air and the hearts of everyone watching.
As the final firework soared into the sky, a massive burst of golden light cascaded down like a waterfall, drawing gasps and cheers from the crowd. The display slowly faded, leaving behind a trail of smoke and the lingering echoes of applause.
"That was one good show!" Venus exclaimed, finally turning her gaze to Odin. Her excitement began to fade as she noticed the way he was looking at her. His eyes were intense, piercing through the night with a focus that made her heart skip a beat. It was a gaze that spoke volumes, one that held a depth of emotion she couldn’t quite decipher.
Before she could say anything, Odin broke the silence. "Let’s go," he said, his voice low yet firm, as if he had made a decision. Venus nodded, thinking they were about to head home, but as she took a step forward, Odin caught her wrist, halting her in place.
"It’s my turn to take you somewhere," Odin announced, his grip gentle but unwavering.
Venus tilted her head, a quizzical look crossing her face. "Where?" she asked, curiosity and caution lacing her voice.
"To the ball organized by the vampires on the first day of the Ambermoon Festival," Odin replied, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.
Venus’s eyes widened in shock. "What? No! Take the woman you fancy," she protested, instinctively pulling her hand back. But Odin’s hold was firm, not letting her escape so easily.
"Look at you. You made me be here with you and you can’t do this much for me," Odin taunted.
"Humans aren’t allowed in the ball, where only vampires are present," Venus reminded him.
