Chapter 292: If it means protecting her
"So, who has been bothering my brother-in-law?" Magnus asked again, his tone demanding a clear answer.
"Your Highness, it’s no longer an issue. It happened–"
"Not long ago," Magnus interjected, his piercing gaze fixating at him. "Use the privilege you have, Elliot," he asserted. "Do you want me to have Mrs. Kline summon everyone to the academy grounds?" He arched his eyebrows, a subtle threat in his expression.
Elliot shook his head quickly. "It was the senior trainees, Your Highness. They were giving me a hard time because my sister is married to you," he explained, his voice faltering slightly.
"Hmm. Then it’s time for them to be punished," Magnus said with a smirk. He headed straight to the office of the Head of the Vampire Academy.
Mrs. Kline was engrossed in some documents when the door opened, and Magnus strode in. She immediately rose from her seat, a look of surprise crossing her face. "Your Highness, you should have summoned me instead," she said, quickly regaining her composure.
"It’s fine. Please, take your seat," Magnus replied, gesturing for her to sit as he settled into a chair. "My brother-in-law has encountered some troubles here. I believe I made it clear through Griffin that Elliot should not be mistreated," he affirmed, his jaw clenching with barely contained anger.
Mrs. Kline looked between Magnus and Elliot, concern etching her features. "Who bothered you, Elliot? Why didn’t you ever tell me about this?" she asked.
"Some senior trainees, Madam," Elliot replied quietly, his gaze shifting to the floor.
Magnus leaned forward, his expression stern. "The ones responsible are Fred, Henry, and Lennox," he stated firmly. "They have been causing Elliot trouble because of his connection to me."
Mrs. Kline’s eyes widened in shock. "I assure you, Your Highness, this behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. I will see to it that they are dealt with immediately."
"That’s not needed, Mrs. Kline. I would like to personally handle their matter. Call them," Magnus ordered.
Cora Kline gestured to her assistant to summon the three trainers. "Your Highness, please forgive me for such negligence," she humbly apologized.
Magnus’s expression remained stern. "Mrs. Kline, this kind of oversight is unacceptable. If I hadn’t come here today, I might never have known that Elliot was being troubled by these senior trainees. You need to focus more on preventing and addressing bullying within the academy."
"I deeply apologize, Your Highness," Cora said, lowering her eyes in shame.
Soon, the assistant returned with the three trainers whose names Magnus had mentioned. As they entered the room, their eyes fell upon Elliot. Their jaws tightened, and it was clear they were already planning to teach him a lesson later, not realizing the gravity of the situation or the presence of Magnus Lukeson in the room.
Magnus’s eyes narrowed as he read their hostile reactions. "Do you three have anything to say for yourselves?" he asked coldly, his authoritative presence filling the room.
The trainees exchanged uneasy glances, realizing that the man before them was no ordinary one.
"Elliot, you didn’t have to complain about us. You are like a younger brother to us. You can tell Madam Cora that there’s nothing to worry about," Fred stated, his voice attempting to sound conciliatory, though a hint of nervousness betrayed him.
Magnus’s eyes flashed with anger. "Throw them in the dungeons," he commanded, his voice cold and unwavering. "Ripping their hearts out would be a much better punishment for them." He paused, his gaze piercing through the three trainers. "I have already read your thoughts since you entered this room. Your intentions were clear. I don’t want any of you to be alive," he declared, his tone final and unforgiving.
The three trainees paled, their bravado crumbling into sheer terror. Mrs. Kline watched the scene unfold, her expression a mix of shock and resolve. She nodded to the guards, who immediately moved to seize the trainers.
"Your Highness, please," Lennox recognized the prince finally, so he pleaded and his voice trembled in fear. "We didn’t mean any harm. We were just—"
"Silence!" Magnus roared, cutting him off. "You dared to mistreat someone under my protection. Your actions have consequences, and you will face them."
Elliot stood by, stunned by the swift and decisive justice being meted out. He felt Magnus hardly tolerated any such matters.
As the trainees were dragged away, Mrs. Kline turned to Magnus. "I assure you, Your Highness, that such behavior will never be tolerated again. The academy will be vigilant in preventing any future incidents."
Magnus nodded curtly. "See that it doesn’t. My patience for such matters is nonexistent. Ensure the safety and well-being of all under your care, or there will be more severe consequences."
Mrs. Kline bowed her head in acknowledgement, the weight of the prince’s words heavy in the air. "It will be done, Your Highness," she promised in her firm voice.
Magnus left his seat. "Till the time Elliot is here, I want you to take a good care of him. He is not an ordinary vampire. He is my wife’s brother," he pronounced.
Cora nodded in understanding and watched as Magnus left the room, Elliot following closely behind.
"Your Highness, that was an extreme punishment," Elliot remarked, still reeling from the severity of it all. "Now, I wonder if Prince Magnus felt the same anger when Alora wasn’t treated nicely in her own home," he muttered, his curiosity getting the better of him.
Magnus paused, turning to look at Elliot. His expression softened slightly as he recalled Alora. "Yes, Elliot," he began, his voice carrying the weight of deep-seated emotion.
"The first time I heard how Alora’s father, sister, and grandmother treated her, I wanted to rip their mouths off. But for Alora, I have to control that anger. For her, I can’t just react with violence, no matter how much I want to."
"But His Highness held his anger," he stated.
Magnus hummed and recalled how much he tolerated their behavior. "For Alora, I will do anything. I can not only give lives, but also take them if it means protecting her," Magnus pronounced.
