Chapter 146: It makes me doubtful
Chapter 146: It makes me doubtful
Magnus returned to the chamber and found out from Tobias that Alora was with Lillian and her friends.
"Why?" Magnus frowned to hear that.
"Princess Lillian wishes to get Princess Alora involved in her friend circle. Isn’t it good that Her Highness will now slowly get familiar with more people?" Tobias remarked.
Though Magnus didn’t wish his wife to be involved with Lillian, but then he thought to let Alora build her relationship with Lillian.
"Your Highness, since tomorrow your first day in the Council, your new clothes are here. I have already put them in your wardrobe. For Princess Alora, the cloak is ready too," Tobias informed him.
"I would like you to find out about a vampire hunter’s organization," Magnus instructed him.
"The one from which Rubin belonged?" Tobias asked to confirm.
"Yes. The Night Saviors. Don’t ask Rubin about it," Magnus asserted.
"It seems His Highness doesn’t trust Rubin," Tobias stated.
"You think I’ll trust a random human so easily!? His mind is so pure that it makes me doubtful. Also, the attack on us during our return was to free Dylan, but where is he? We have no clue of him. Rubin wants to be in the council, and again, the reason is unknown," Magnus spoke out his doubts. "You don’t have to share it with anyone," he added.
"I understand, Your Highness," said Tobias.
"I also think Damien isn’t dead. He can’t die this easily. It’s my strong intuition that I’ve missed something," Magnus shared with him.
Tobias was quite surprised by that revelation. "But everyone witnessed him dying... I meant to say perishing," he asserted.
"That’s the question. Why would he die so foolishly? Something is wrong and I’m unable to understand what it is," Magnus proclaimed with a skeptical gaze.
Tobias was unable to understand why Magnus was confused about this. Damien Von Grimm died in front of so many vampires. Everyone witnessed his death.
"That’s the problem. Damien can’t die easily. I know this," Magnus stated after reading Tobias’s thoughts. "You need to fulfill the task I’ve given you," he dismissed Tobias before heading to the bedchamber.
Slumped in the recliner, Magnus absentmindedly rolled his ring between his fingers, his gaze fixed on the ceiling as he attempted to piece together the puzzle of Dylan’s whereabouts. "Where could Dylan be?" he muttered in frustration, annoyed by the lack of progress in tracking him down.
Lost in contemplation, Magnus felt the weariness of his thoughts weigh upon him, and before long, he found himself succumbing to sleep, his mind still swirling with unanswered questions.

Alora enjoyed her time with Lillian and her friends. In the beginning, she felt she would not be able to get along with them. But it was only her insecurity.
As Alora entered, she found from a servant that Magnus returned an hour ago. She hastily went to the bedchamber, only to find Magnus was sleeping peacefully on the recliner.
Alora quietly closed the door and without making any noise, she walked to Magnus. Sitting on the fluffy rug, she rested her folded arms on the recliner and placed her face on it. She watched Magnus sleep while admiring him silently.
A tiny smile carved on her lips when she decided to draw his sleeping posture in her journal. Bringing the journal, she sat again on the rug and began drawing Magnus’s face.
It took her twenty minutes to draw his sleeping face and she wrote her thoughts beside it.
"I’ve always heard about sleeping beauty. But here lies the handsome sleeping vampire, who is my husband."
She was lost in her own world of admiration when Magnus’s voice fell into her ears.
"Alora, what are you doing at the floor?" Magnus sat straight as he leaned down. She lifted her head after closing her journal quickly.
"Nothing." She got on her knees to reach and rested her hands on his thighs. "You were tired. I hope the meeting went well," Alora asserted and then sat beside him while holding her journal in her one hand.
"It was quite tough to convince them. Father used his authority. Since Father gave you his words, so he wanted to fulfill that promise," Magnus asserted.
"Oh. Were the Council Members not agreeing to include me in the Vampire Council?" Alora inquired.
"Yes. William was hell bent of not including you," Magnus shared with her. He rested his head on her shoulder. "William is father’s old friend and is one of the four Elders. In the council if there will be any man, who won’t acknowledge your presence, then that’s William. He may even try to throw you out of the council. So, we need to be careful," Magnus elaborated to her.
"Does William hate humans?" Alora asked.
"I think so," Magnus replied. "Also, you are the only human allowed to join the Vampire Council. It’s an exception made for you only," he added.
"But we promised Rubin too," Alora stated.
"Rubin isn’t worthy to join the council. Also, we cannot trust him," Magnus clarified to her.
"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Alora was perplexed to hear him.
"Every vampire in the council has a unique ability. You cannot join the council merely because you run your mouth well, which Rubin does. Moreover, we cannot trust Rubin this early," Magnus explained to her.
Alora hummed, but she was worried thinking that Rubin might get angry about it.
"Let him be angry. However, he won’t join the council until he wins my trust," Magnus remarked.
"I thought he already won your trust," Alora replied.
"Never. I had a few suspicions about him," Magnus disclosed to her. "Rubin had the antidote that day. He lied to all of us. It’s difficult to find the antidote and humans cannot even access it. Alora, you are naive in this matter, so you think whatever he told us was the truth. But something more is hidden inside Rubin," he asserted while furrowing his brows together.
Alora trusted Magnus’s instincts more than anything, so she agreed with his decision.
