Chapter 147: Deepened the kiss
Chapter 147: Deepened the kiss
Alora, after rechecking the items, which she had considered as presents for her family members, put them in the four separate boxes. Selvina and Griffin helped her in this task while Magnus remained busy reading the parchments, which Griffin brought for him.
"Alora, tomorrow is your first day in the council. Are you ready?" Griffin asked.
"Yes, I am," Alora replied.
"I’ll stay close by your side. So, if anyone bullies you, then–" he paused abruptly as Magnus intervened.
"Then, you don’t have to save her. That responsibility is of her husband," Magnus pronounced as he shot a glare at Griffin.
"But what if Prince Magnus isn’t around? Then, who will save Alora? As her friend, that responsibility will lie with me," Griffin affirmed, smiling as if he achieved something bigger.
"No one will bully Alora. They won’t want to face my wrath," Magnus proclaimed.
"That’s true. But the seniors can. I mean, their minds are retarded, Alora. They think highly of themselves. Last time I was working there, one even made me like an ass for two months," Griffin replied with a fearful tone.
"What? Did you not complain about it?" Alora asked, curious to find out.
"I was given more work and I had to work entire nights many times," Griffin replied, pouting his lips.
Alora’s heart wrenched to hear that and she glanced at Magnus, who was busy in reading. "Did His Highness not save you?" she queried.
"Prince Magnus didn’t know me that time. I was a newbie vampire, who was supposed to listen to my seniors without objecting to any of their decisions," Griffin stated, recalling his old, stressful days.
"Then, how did Griffin save himself?" Alora inquired.
"Prince Magnus noticed me one day and my life changed," Griffin replied with a smile "From then onward, I’m in service of your husband." A smile graced his lips as he was happy being Magnus’s servant than Council’s. However, the prince never considered him a servant, and their bond strengthened. At least, from Griffin’s side, Magnus was his friend.
Selvina was done locking the boxes and she asked Alora whether she should send those embellished boxes to her house.
"Yes. Take the help of the other servants," Alora told her.
"I can drop these to Princess Alora’s home," Griffin offered.
"Thank you, Griffin, but you don’t have to trouble yourself," Alora asserted. Selvina had by then taken the boxes out with the other servants’ help.
"Griffin, why didn’t you get married?" Alora inquired him.
"I wasn’t interested. However, now, I am. I think I should go to the weekly balls organized in the capital’s grand hall. Perhaps, I’ll find someone," Griffin answered with an enthusiastic smile.
"Can you find a partner in the balls?" Alora astonishingly queried.
"Yes. It’s a friendly environment there," Griffin replied. "After two days, there’s a ball. Pray for me Alora that I find a good partner," he said.
"Sure. I pray for you a good wife for you," Alora stated as she joined both hands.
Magnus put the last parchment on the table with a sound, grabbing their attention to him. "Griffin, it’s time for you to leave. Take these parchments with you," he asserted.
Griffin quickly rose to his feet and asked Magnus how he read them in such a short time. He collected those parchments, ready to leave.
"Griffin, do enjoy the ball," Alora said.
"Yes, I will," Griffin smiled at him and walked away.
"Griffin is such a sweet person," Alora commented. Magnus furrowed his brows together upon hearing such a compliment for Griffin from his wife’s mouth. With a blink of an eye, he was in front of Alora, who was startled for a second. She rose to her feet and opened her mouth to speak when he kissed her out of the blue.
Gently, Alora pushed him away, her hands pressing on his chest.
"Your Highness, we are in the drawing room. Anyone can come here," she whispered, her long eyelashes touching her skin as she lowered them.
Magnus was swift to carry her in a bridal style and took her to the bedchamber. As he put her down, he closed the door first, not wanting to be disturbed by anyone.
"I never thought the work culture in the council would be toxic," she said.
"Every workplace is toxic," Magnus whispered as he cupped her face between his palms.
"His Highness should know that my lips are swollen by his kisses," Alora complained.
"Don’t you want it then? Should I stop?" Magnus asked, his hand lowering from her face.
Alora caught Magnus’s hands and gently placed them back on her cheeks. "I was kidding. I do want it," she admitted with a glint in her eyes. Rising onto her tiptoes, she lightly kissed him on the lips, her hands securing behind his neck.
Sensing her willingness, Magnus eagerly deepened the kiss, guiding them towards the bed. In their fervor, Alora accidentally bumped her back against the table, causing a lantern to wobble precariously.
As Magnus withdrew from the kiss, he trailed soft kisses along her neck, igniting a new wave of desire between them.
Her hands tightly held onto the edges of the table as she let him explore her neck. Her eyes shut close and she felt knots forming in the pit of her stomach.
With his vampiric speed, Magnus brought her to the bed. Her weight sank into the soft mattress as she found their lips connected again. Her fingers locked in his curls, her clothes loosening.
"Magnus, wh-why is this experience so-so different every ti-time we do this?" Alora managed to ask between her stutters.
He paused his kisses on her shoulder for a moment, "I wish I had an answer for that, Darling."
Alora’s heart wildly raced against her chest. Her toes curled when he nipped her sweet, sensitive spot, eliciting a moan from her mouth. Her hands moved to his back as she pushed him to the mattress this time and took the charge now.
