Chapter 133: To be careful of her
The next morning:
"Your Highness, your brother, Elliot Wilson, has sent this for you," said Tobias as he brought a wooden box in his hand. Alora was surprised to find that her brother sent a present for him.
As Tobias placed it on the table, Alora thanked him.
"Your Highness, Prince Magnus may be occupied for a few hours. He’s attending court after an extended absence," Tobias informed her.
"Thank you for informing me," Alora said.
Tobias bowed and left her sight. Alora was quick to open the wooden box and the first thing she saw was a letter. She picked it up and opened it. Unfolding the paper, Alora read the message in broken words.
Alora couldn’t communicate with Elliot before, but through this letter, she could feel it was from her heart. Selvina noticed the tiny smile on Alora’s lips as she entered the room with a tray in her hand. Setting a bowl of fruit custard on the table, she informed Alora about it.
"Selvina, my brother sent these for me. I never knew he had such a great choice. Doesn’t this dress look good on me?" Alora asked as she pulled out the flowy off-yellow gown out of the box.
"It indeed is pretty, Your Highness. Does Her Highness wish to change in this?" Selvina queried.
"No. I’ll wear it tomorrow. He even sent me these gold earrings. Elliot never gave me a present before. It truly is special for me. Ahh, I can wear it in the evening and go to meet them. I want to see my mother. She will be happy to find out that I look like this," Alora explained with a smile.
"That’s great. I will put this dress in the cupboard and these earrings on the dressing table," Selvina told her as she took the dress from Alora.
"Thank you." Alora watched her leave and again read the letter. "I think they have begun acknowledging me," she murmured.
"Alora!" Lillian’s voice fell in her ears and she lifted her head.
"Yes, Sister Lillian?" Alora asked.
"My friends want to meet you. Are you free tomorrow?" Lillian asked. Her gaze fell on the box on the table. "What is it? Who sent you a letter and I suppose gifts?" she asked.
"It was my brother, Sister Lillian," Alora replied. "Please have a seat. I’ll put all these away. Selvina! Selvina!" Alora called out for her personal attendant.
Lillian sat down across from her. Selvina came there and greeted the princess before complying with Alora’s order.
"Alora, my friends are noble vampires. They may sound rude to you, but that doesn’t mean they think wrong of you. I hope you do understand what I mean by that," Lillian asserted.
"Yes, I do. I’m glad that Sister Lillian considered introducing me to her friends. That’s indeed a big thing for me," Alora stated with a smile.
"Last night, you were incredible. Your eyes... They are powerful as everyone used to say. I was scared that Brother Izaak might get badly hurt. Immortals like us die when our hearts are taken out," Lillian explained to her, even her voice carried the fear in that.
"I heard that. But Brother Izaak is safe now. Damien is no longer alive," Alora stated, telling Lillian not to feel low.
"Do you know Father would not have saved Brother Izaak?" Lillian suddenly revealed this to her.
"Huh? Why?" Alora was puzzled by her statement.
"Because Father couldn’t have let the Kingdom fall in Damien’s hands. Damien hated humans. And he could’ve used you in a terrible way. Brother Izaak was on the brink of death last night. That’s why what you did for us, for Brother Izaak was incredible," Lillian pronounced while showing her gratitude.
Alora was slightly disturbed to learn that Izaak could have died if she had failed or Magnus had failed in bringing her before Damien.
"Also, I heard that you called Scarlet for tea. Aren’t you aware of the fact that she has feelings for Brother Magnus? It’s not good to keep a friendship with a woman who likes your husband," Lillian advised her.
"Scarlet no longer likes Magnus," Alora replied.
"However, I doubt that. Scarlet is quite smart. You need to be careful of her. Though I always wanted to see her Brother Magnus’s side, now, the situation has changed. She may try to win Brother Magnus’s heart by using you. Rest is up to you to decide," Lilian suggested to her to keep a distance from Scarlet.
"I appreciate Sister Lillian made me aware of this. But what if Scarlet isn’t like that? We shouldn’t judge anyone," Alora said.
"Alora, how old are you?" Lillian queried.
"24," Alora answered.
"I have known Scarlet for a long time. Your one conversation with her can’t decide that she won’t harm your relationship with Magnus. I’m not here to scare you. Because you saved Brother Izaak, that’s why I told you to stay away from Scarlet. You can talk to her occasionally, but don’t let her enter your personal life," Lillian again advised her.
Alora hummed as she assured Lillian that she would keep it in her mind.
"Good. You shall eat the custard. I will take my leave here," Lillian said and she rose to her feet. Alora, too, stood up and bowed at Lillian. After she left, Alora sat down and deeply sighed.
Selvina, who had heard their conversation told Alora to follow Lillian’s advice.
"Yes, I will," Alora said. "I don’t want my relationship to get spoiled with Magnus. I cannot see him getting hurt," she asserted.
"Princess Alora, do you know there will be soon an eclipse?" Selvina suddenly inquired her.
"No, I have no idea. Why?" Alora questioned her. "Is it a solar eclipse?"
"Yes. The moon’s effect on the earth will be more. Werewolves got powerful that day. The last time I remember a group of werewolves attacked newbie vampires. When an investigation occurred, it was found out that they were rogues. I wonder this time again something odd will happen," Selvina murmured.
Alora realized that these sun and moon events were so crucial for the vampires and the werewolves. She wondered if there would be any effect of this on Magnus and other immortal vampires.
"Your Highness, Miss Scarlet is here!" Tobias informed her, causing her to stop thinking about the upcoming eclipse.
