The Vampire Prince's Blindfolded Bride
Chapter 134: Wanted to see you once

Chapter 134: Wanted to see you once

The court session ended. As the King left first, Magnus was quick to follow him. "Father, I would like to talk to you," Magnus said, making King Esmond halt in his way.

Esmond turned to look at his son, an amused expression covered his face and he glanced at Russell, gesturing to him to go ahead.

"What is it that Prince Magnus followed me right after the court ended?" King Esmond asked while resuming his walk.

"Why did Father not decide to save Izaak last night?" Magnus straightforwardly asked. "I thought you would choose your child over Damien," he stated.

"Damien would not have spared Izaak anyway. Do you think sacrificing Izaak was a bad choice? I think in front of the kingdom, I was forced to make a tough choice," Esmond explained to him. "However, all that would be possible if Alora weren’t present there," he affirmed.

"So, Father didn’t think of anything that time. That’s terrible. What if such a situation arises again? Will Father sacrifice all of his kids? I understand he never cared for me, but he should at least, think of the mother," Magnus complained to him.

"Magnus, I thought you were devoid of any such emotions? Also, why do you think I never cared for you?" Esmond questioned him, peering skeptically into his eyes. "Sending you to Elmswood was necessary. Forgive me for not giving you a childhood like the other kids. But sometimes situations are hard to explain," he proclaimed after apologizing to his son.

"Tomorrow, there is a Council Meeting to tackle such situations in the future. You need to be present in that. Don’t bring Alora since it’s for only vampires. And her presence may make others uncomfortable. It will take time for the people to get used to her," Esmond instructed him.

"I understand," Magnus replied. He still had a lot to say, but he felt it was better to end the conversation here.

"Magnus, you should speak out your heart in front of your parents. Unless you tell me, I won’t know what complaints you have. Unlike you, your father can no longer read minds," said King Esmond.

"I missed Father. I wish he had once come to see me when I was with my aunt. I waited for days, months, and years. I only wanted to see you once," Magnus finally spoke out. "I had a lot of things to tell Father and Mother. But they both were not present around me," he added.

"You were a special vampire. I didn’t wish to expose you to the enemies at a time when everything was in chaos. Don’t forget you grew up faster than Izaak and Alaric. You possessed your abilities by the age of six. As a father, I needed to protect you," Esmond stated while being honest with his son.

"Any more questions?"

Magnus shook his head in refusal. Esmond told him not to think of the past when so many years had already passed. He went ahead to his chamber while Magnus headed back to his chamber.

As he stepped foot in the chamber, he noticed Scarlet’s presence. He kept walking until he reached the drawing room and saw Alora conversing with Scarlet while having tea with her. However, he didn’t interrupt them and he decided to see Izaak.

Fortunately, Izaak wasn’t sleeping and he could finally have a conversation with him.

"You are enjoying your rest well," Magnus said as he sat on the sofa chair next to the bed. "Is your wound healed?" he queried.

Izaak pushed down his robe from the chest slightly so that Magnus could see it himself.

"Benefits of drinking fresh blood," Izaak replied. "Are you worried for me? I’m not used to this kind of concern," he remarked, "especially from you."

"Aren’t you upset knowing the fact that Father would have not saved you yesterday?" Magnus suddenly asked him.

"No. I already lived for so many years," Izaak reminded him how even Magnus used to make him aware of the same fact many times.

"That doesn’t mean I ever wanted to lose you that way," Magnus answered. He lowered his head while contemplating something.

"You aren’t supposed to feel low, Magnus. Well, you succeeded in saving me along with Alora," Izaak stated. "Your beliefs are stronger than any standing hill. I always thought Alora could never become a part of this family since nobody would accept her," he added.

"Your vision came true," Magnus replied with a tiny smile.

"Remember my first vision when I held Alora’s hand," Izaak queried him.

"About her mother?" Magnus asked to confirm.

"Yes. I think it won’t come true. But I wonder if that can be possible. I still have doubts," Izaak asserted.

"Alora’s mother loves her the most. So, it won’t come true," Magnus replied. "You think something is odd about it!?" he arched his eyebrows at Izaak.

"I have no idea. So far the two of my visions came true. I’m unsure about this one," Izaak briefed him. "What if the situation changes? Then, perhaps, this vision also comes true," he opined.

"It can never happen, Brother Izaak. Why would a mother suddenly begin hating her daughter for whom she fought with so many people?" Magnus was again being skeptical.

"You need to find that answer. How can I even give you a better explanation on this when I’m confused myself?" Izaak murmured and lay down on the bed again.

Magnus turned quiet and watched how Izaak again wanted to sleep.

"What bothers you? Why have you pulled up your face?" Izaak asked.

"Nothing." Magnus rose to his feet and told Izaak that he would leave now.

"Magnus, you cannot stop certain things from happening. I hope you understand this soon," Izaak told him. He closed his eyes, waving at Magnus, thus signaling him to leave.

Magnus left his room and finally arrived at his chamber, where Tobias informed him about Scarlet’s presence in the drawing room.

"Alright," Magnus said and went ahead.
