Chapter 124: To see my mother
Chapter 124: To see my mother
Lillian, sensing her brother’s displeasure, attempted to leave before he could confront her. However, Magnus intercepted her, seizing her throat.
"Ahh!" Lillian gasped, struggling to break free, clutching at his hand.
Norman and Elliot watched in a gape as Magnus revealed this side of himself, fearing they could be his next targets. If Magnus couldn’t show mercy to his own sister, they realized, there was little hope for gentleness toward anyone else.
"Didn’t I tell you not to force your nose in my matters? It seems you have a death wish, Dear Sister!" Magnus said with an intimidating gaze.
"Magnus!" Alora called his name out and rushed to them. She held his wrist, asking him to leave Lillian. "She’s your sister. Let her go," she implored, managing to pull his hand away as Lillian struggled for air.
Witnessing her brother’s callousness, Lillian was horrified. Her brother was insane. How could he be willing to harm his own sister?
Tobias entered the drawing room, greeted by a distressing sight that unfolded before him.
"I’ll inform Mother about this," Lillian threatened, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Don’t use Mother’s name as a threat," Magnus retorted sharply. "And who are you to meddle in my affairs? Don’t pretend to be the epitome of innocence. I know your intentions and what you’ve been scheming, bringing those two humans here," he accused as he skeptically glanced at her.
"Please, Magnus, don’t say anything to your sister," Alora pleaded, trying to pacify her husband.
Lillian clenched her fists, her voice trembling with anger. "Brother Magnus, you only care about your wife. I hate you," she declared, stomping her foot before turning to leave.
"Well, I hate you too, Dear Sister," Magnus retorted mockingly, watching as Lillian stormed out.
"Father, we should leave," Elliot whispered in Norman’s ear. He never saw vampires fighting among themselves and here was Magnus! He almost choked Lillian to death.
"Stay quiet," Norman told him in a low voice.
"Apologize to Lillian later. I don’t want to hear anything," Alora said with an angry look. "You cannot treat your sister like that. Siblings do fight, but they don’t think about killing each other," she stated while caressing Magnus’s arm.
"Do you feel better?" Alora asked him after a minute.
"Hmm." He turned around and glanced at both Norman and Elliot, who were trembling in fear.
"How dare you two show me your face?" Magnus chuckled. Alora held his hand, shaking her head, signalling him not to make any harsh comments.
"I am here to apologize to Alora, my daughter," Norman said.
"I don’t have anything to speak with Father," Alora retorted, though her voice remained gentle.
"Sister Alora, at least hear him once. I know you are angry with all of us, but you cannot let Venus rot in the prison," Elliot pronounced, bringing the truth about which she was unaware.
"Why is she in prison?" Alora asked. She glanced at Magnus, who refused to speak on that.
"Don’t you know anything about this?" Norman queried.
"I’m not aware of that," Alora answered. "What did Venus do that she’s taken to the prison?" she then questioned her father.
Both Norman and Elliot didn’t know what to say to Alora at this point. How to tell her that Venus plotted against her?
Alora glanced at Magnus, thinking if he would tell her. "Venus wanted to take your life. For this, she manipulated Eugene’s mate," he briefed her, knowing the fact that the truth would hurt her. However, he couldn’t keep it hidden anymore.
"Alora, you should talk to Venus once. She did lose her mind to think something like this, but she is your sister," Norman said, trying to convince her.
"How is Mother doing?" Alora queried.
"Not well. Mother cries most of the time," Elliot replied this time. "Even Father is removed from the position of High Chancellor," he added, revealing another truth to her.
Alora gazed at Magnus, who didn’t speak anything on that.
"Our family will destroy, Alora. I’m the one, who should get punished. I am the one, who always discriminated among my two children and you. Alora, that day, I should have stood by your side as your father. I know I have made a lot of mistakes all this time. However, I am ready to repent," Norman said in an apologetic tone.
"I would like to see my mother," Alora said and left the chamber. She was no longer interested in hearing her father’s explanation. She didn’t trust her father or her brother. In general, she trusted no one in that house, except for her mother.
Magnus followed her closely and they both stopped only in their bedchamber.
"I didn’t wish to tell you all this in such a way," Magnus said.
Alora remained quiet and this silence of hers was killing Magnus. He couldn’t even read her thoughts since her mind was blank. He decided to stay silent because that was the best in this situation.
After a while, Alora opened her mouth to speak, "I want to see Venus." She met Magnus’s gaze, who instantly agreed to her request.
"Don’t let her manipulate you," Magnus advised her.
Alora hummed and he led her way to the dungeon prison, where Venus was present. It had been more than five days for Venus since she had last seen someone in the dungeon. The food would come from the small opening made at the lower part of the door. When the door, opened Venus quickly stood up in the hope her father might have freed her.
However, to her surprise, Magnus and Alora were standing in front of her. Tears streamed down Venus’s cheeks and she ran to Alora along with the shackles that were attached to her feet and hands.
She pulled Alora in a tight embrace. "Forgive me, Alora. I won’t ever do that. I love you. Please tell Prince Magnus to let me go. I beg you," Venus said while begging her sister.
Alora pushed her away gently and kept her gaze low. The next second, she slapped Venus, bringing shock to both Venus and Magnus’s face.
"This is for inflicting pain to our mother," Alora said in a stern tone.
