’Why hasn’t anyone came out yet?’ Jack found it weird, how none other ogre guard had not come out throughout the course of their battle. The noises made were definitely loud to attract attention. but surprisingly, it didn’t attract any ogre’s attention whatsoever.

[The ogre’s are giants with poor hearing. You are technically considered an ant in there view, so these so called loud noises are nothing more but little in their sight.] The system explained to which jack nodded.

Honestly, he didn’t really think he could instantly take on another ogre having exhausted most of his stamina. He knew they were powerful, but just didn’t think they were this powerful.

And their physical stats was also surprisingly close to his. The only edge he had was his high agility, and their giant nature. Giving him an advantage to easily inflict damage, and go unscathed.

"System, isn’t there a weak spot I could specifically target on an ogre?" Jack asked. Yes he was strong, but it was hard creating a cut with how tough the ogre’s skin were. The daggers he had weren’t sharp enough to inflict much damage, so he constantly used his strength and stamina.

But he plaused, if there was a weaker spot on an ogre body he could exploit. Killing them would be much easier, as he’d just focus on that area. Rather than exhausting his stamina, and relying on his strength with the daggers.

[Their eyes.. that’s the best and least protected spot, that you could inflict a serious amount of damage. Not only is it soft and fragile, it’s a direct link to the brain perfect for blood decay effects.] Hearing the system, a sly smile tugged on jack’s lip. He’d thought of that earlier, but he wasn’t entirely sure. Not accustomed with ogre physiology and genes, he didn’t want to take the risk just to backfire in his face.

’Thank you system.’ Jack inwardly thanked the system, for being more than just a great help to him.

[Hmph! Am not accepting that yet until you give me a name.] The system spoke with a pout, making jack raise a brow.

"Y-you want a name?" He was shocked hearing this from his ever proud system, that only thought highly if itself. He didn’t find it weird calling the system, system, since it was an advanced artificial intelligence.

In system words, jack felt it was a great appraisal being called such. But now the system had demanded to be named?

"You never cease to surprise me." He chuckled lightly, slightly shaking his head a bit.

"So, what name does the all great system wants to be called?" Jack asked, not having an idea what to name his system. He sucked at giving out names, and he didn’t want to anger his all knowing system.

[I-i don’t know dimwit. You’re my host, you should be the one to come up with a name.] The system retorded with a light scoff, pouting like an innocent child.

"Argh! Alright~" jack shrugged, placing his hand to his chin. He was aware his system could hear his thoughts, so an idea popped up in his head.

"How about frosty or wicked?"

[A-are you fucking kidding me you dimwit! What insolence!? I should explode your head where you sit right now!] The system retorded fuming in anger. Clearly enraged by those names, not liking them one but.

Chuckling, jack then proceeded to a variety of other names he came up with. All to which was rejected by the system.

"You know.. am running out of ideas here you know." Jack frowned already almost giving up. Thinking hard, he stayed silent for a while.

"I think I got it!" An idea popped up in his head, making his eyes brighten up.

"How about Aethone?" Fascinated a bit with Greek mythology, he read some few names given in ancient times. Storing some of which captivated him, Aethone being one of them. Meaning blazing or shiny with a cold icy twist.

Perfectly suiting his system personality. He was a bit in a dilemma, which category of names befitting the system. Considering it wasn’t make or female. But he went with female, being it acted more like a female than male.

[Aethone..] the system muttered contemplating on it. Staying silent for a while which startled jack a bit, he suddenly heard his system voice again.

[Aethone.. I like it] it stated in a more feminine voice, prior to it’s former monotone dialogue voice.

"Very well then.. aethone it is!" Jack proudly declared, to which the system accepted. Having rested a bit, jack checked the rewards he’d received from both kabon and echom kill.

[Congratulations on killing a peak rank F ogre!]

[+38 strength stat!]

[+25 stamina and +21 agility points.]

[You have levelled up!]

[You have levelled up..]

[You have levelled up..]

[Reach level 30 to evolve into next stage!]

[You have received a new item, please check in the store.]

"Woah!" Jack exclaimed a bit staring at the system screens. He expected some decent rewards from killing both ogres, being they were both tough. But he never expected this rewards from both their kills.

’Almost 40 strength points for both kills.’ Jack’s eyes, greedily stared at the insane amount of strength points he received. It was no doubt the single highest strength stat, he’d received since.

Agility and stamina weren’t also lacking, each packing individually.

’I levelled up three times.’ It was a great improvement from just killing two ogres. His levelling had been a little bit slow, from before having reached this stage. So it was no doubt a good reward.

"An evolution?" His eyes widened a bit, staring at the system screen.

[Reach level 30 to evolve into the next stage.]

This was the first time he was seeing such message. He knew what evolution meant, but had never experienced it. So seeing the screen now made his heart skip some beats.

’10 more levels to go.’ Am excited smirk was plastered on his face. The feeling of growing stronger and evolving was intoxicating, like a strong drink he couldn’t get enough of.

"I received another item." Jack grinned with a sly smirk. Unlike before, the system didn’t specify what rank this item was, like with the SSS rank summoners ring.

’Clank!’ His attention was pulled to the loud clank noise by the gate. Several locks clicked with some few thuds, indicating the opening of the huge metal gates.

’Clank! Creak~’ A huge clank sound echoed, as the mechanisms of the gate turned with one final twist. Then followed the eerie creak sound of the gates, going backwards open.

’Thud! Thud!’ Huge footsteps could be heard with the approaching of a figure. Thanks to him being little in the sight of the ogre’s, it provided a great opportunity to conceal himself in the bodies.

"K-kabon, echom?" A new ogre emerged. wearing an apron formerly white, but stained with countless blood and unimaginable things. In his hand was a wooden roller also stained with blood, and a white powdery substance jack guessed was flour.

’Do they actually bake their food?’ Having watched a few movies, like the jack the giant slayer. It portrayed giants, not necessarily ogres but still man eating flesh monsters.

Depicting their love of flesh and meat, most especially human meat. Even portraying how they’d stuff their raw foodstuffs with flour, and other tasty ingredients. Then fry or bake them, in their massive unsettling cookers.

Jack never really understood what pleasure they gained from consuming flesh, finding it sickening and disturbing. But being an undead now he fully understood.

Looking round, the goblin searched around for the signs of the attacker but found nothing. His eyes then lingered on the two bodies in front.

"More food for us then." The chef ogre grinned greedily, staring at the two dead bodies as nothing more but extra meat. Stretching his hand, he attempted to grab kabon and echom but stopped.

’What happened?’ Jack wondered seeing the chef ogre suddenly stop. He didn’t have time to dwell in his thoughts, seeing the huge wooden roller crashing down to him.

"He spotted me? But how?" According to the aethone, she stated ogres had bad hearing and sight. Now, one would think they were just useless and disabled creatures, contradicting the rumors of them being too powerful.

But they had a trump card, which was their nose! They had this strange unique ability to smell flesh from a far distance. Pinpointing it accurately, to the precise location. And not only could they smell flesh, but they could distinguish between different creatures and humans, having the highest and most alluring scent.

’I hoped the blood from echom and kabon would conceal my prescence, but seems I was wrong.’ Being spotted, jack had no other option but to fight for his life.

His stats had improved greatly from the rewards from the system. And there was still the item he received from his system, he hadn’t checked.

’I might have to summon Jin and kabobs.’ Jack thought evading a critical strike. He’d received some buffs but still, his stamina wasn’t fully restored. Thus making his movements a bit sluggish and predictive.
