Chapter 70: Death race

"This aura.. something’s powerful is definitely residing here." Jack heart fluttered a bit, at how much raw energy was condensed in this ogre settlement. It was nothing like he’d ever encountered before.

The only powerful aura that had far surpassed his, was that of the horse. The goblin king’s aura on the same as his. But this aura emitting from the settlement in top, far surpassed all these aura combined. Making him wonder what sort of abominable foe dwelled within those walls.

"Scan the area." Jack softly muttered. He was really close to the settlement now, just some few meters separating them. So the system was able to do a visual scan on the settlement.

[Scanning..]

After some few seconds a different screen popped up in his gaze, showcasing the layout of the ogre settlement. The design wasn’t like kilroi town or the goblin village. Built with more solid blocks, and reinforced with iron bars. The layout was plain, like a huge flat building with little height. Further divided into smaller sections.

’It’s just like a fortress.’ Jack thought, comparing it to that of one of j and j enterprise warehouse back in Agathe.

"Nevertheless.. am still going to kill you all." Standing up he had a calm look on his face, steadily approaching the settlement unarmed.

There was a huge wall erected around the settlement for defense. With a metal steel gate enclosing it. Serving as the entrance in. Guarding it were two tall giant ogres, reaching incredible heights of about 11 feet tall. They wore nothing more than a short ragged skirt, woven from different animal hides covering their lower region.

Leaving their bare hard chest on display. Their skin was the normal tone just like humans. But there were visible lumps and fat, hanging on their bones.

Seeing a figure approaching, the ogres immediately went on guard releasing their auras. A killing intent lingered in their eyes, fueled with rage and annoyance of such insolent.

’Now this is a challenge.’ Jack inwardly chuckled, pretending to be overwhelmed by their aura. Dragging his feet across the sand. He acted frail and pathetic, like a fragile object that would soon break under their dominating force.

"A stray food?" One of th8e muttered in a guttural voice, staring at jack as nothing more but food to feed on. In their eyes he was like an ant, weak and small to trample on.

"It seems so." The other answered with a frown. "I don’t like the looks of it, It seems old and dirty. We should just kill it and not risk it corrupting the other livestock." He suggested, gripping his spiked wooden club tightly.

"No.. why don’t we eat him instead." His comrade smiled evily, earning an awkward gaze from his pier.

"Come on, don’t give me that look. You know rations have been going down lately, and we’re not eating to the fullest like before." Hearing his fellow guard, the former couldn’t disagree with him as it was true.

"Fine, haha! I like the way you think koban!" The more chubbier ogre chuckled with a smug grin. Raising his foot he brought it down, sending shockwaves to the ground. Slightly shifting jack off balance lifting him in the air a bit.

’The ground shook just from it’s freaking step.’ Jack’s eyes widened, witnessing raw strength that matched his for the first time.

"Come here foodie." His thoughts were caught short, seeing the ogre in front. Crouching down, the giant easily picked jack up with two fingers. A sly smirk tugging at the conners of his lip.

"Argh! Do they ever brush?" Jack frowned, covering his nose from the foul stench emitting from the ogre’s mouth. It looked like something had died inside it’s mouth. It’s teeth were rotten and decaying, with several holes in his cavity. Making jack wonder if they ever did brush?

"In my belly you go!" The ogre grinned opening his mouth wide, hovering jack above. Without delay it let go, causing jack to fall fast to the disgusting mouth.

"You should learn to brush more!" Jack roared in anger, repulsed at this foul stench that made him want to jerk. Without hesitation he activated blood decay, firing about five balls of blood balls. Directly going down the ogres throat.

’Bang! bang! bang! bang!’

Small bang sounds immediately went off, indicating the second and first effect of blood decay kicking in. Twisting his body he spun himself fast, the two daggers equipped in his hand. He moved Ike a small tornado, twisting violently making vibration noises.

’Slash!’ He didn’t hold back going all out, utilizing his speed and strength to effectively make a deep slash to the ogres throat. Not stopping but running on his chest, creating as much damage as he could to the flesh eating monster

"Phough!" The ogre coughed up fresh blood just realizing himself. As all the damage jack inflicted was in mere seconds, not reaching a minute. It tried to hold his throat in attempt to stop the bleeding but it was futile, the deed had already been done.

And not only that, but he could feel something in him. Like a parasite sucking on his blood, draining him of strength rapidly.

’W-what’s happening?’ It wondered, unable to comprehend this situation. How a mere livestock could turn so deadly.

"H-help me~" Koban turned to his friend who just stared with shock, also surprised at this outcome.

"A-am sorry koban.. but we can’t waste meat." The ogre’s face turned sinister in a flash, making kobans face go pale. Under his watch, he saw his friend and Allie grip his club tightly. Lifting his arm and bringing it down to his head fast.

’Bam!’ The club smashed to kobans head like a bulldozer, sending a huge gust of wind.

"Shit!" Jack cursed, plunging the daggers deep into kobans neck. He never expected this scene of betrayal to play out, but it wasn’t absurd.

They were creatures, savages, flesh eating monsters and mindless freaks. Willing to do anything for a pound of flesh, so it was a norms for betrayal to occur. But jack never expected it to be this quick.

’He’s not yet dead.’ Though the ogre’s strike was deadly, koban wasn’t dead yet. Though his face was brutalized with holes. Seeing this the ogre raised his hand, bringing the club down to koban again.

’Bam!’ The ground trembled violently from the shock, along with huge gusts of wind blasting nearby items away. Not stopping, the deranged ogre continued it’s barrage of attack, slamming the club down to koban.

Jack didn’t also stay still, rapidly blurring from different spots on kobans body. Moving like a skilled assassin, using the daggers and his strength to cut deep into the ogre’s skin.

’It’s really tough like steel.’ Jack thought slashing in an arc form. The ogre’s skin was very tough, like layers of thick flesh piled together from eating countless flesh. So it was hard to make a cut, not to mention a deep one. With barely sharp daggers of poor quality.

"Go down!" Jack screamed inserting all his strength into his fist, seeing the cut was deep enough to be finished with a blow. With bulging veins all over, even his eyes, he punched forward.

’Boom!’ A small explosion occured like a shot from a tank. The fist locating it’s mark, hitting the ogre spot on in the throat. Creating a small hole that went inside some few bits.

With that koban’s eyes went white rolling back. His head slowly tumbling back, falling to the floor with a loud thud.

’Thud!’ Various system messages appeared before jack’s view, but he dismissed them. Solely concentrating on the second ogre, locked to his eyes like a predator.

"You! you’re not just any stray livestock are you?" He calmly asked to which jack nodded with a crazed smile.

"Why are you here, who sent you? And how are you this strong!?" Echom frowned, staring at his once friend now laying lifeless on the floor.

"You made me killed my friend! You’ll regret that!" The atmosphere immediately plummeted, turning ice cold like a switch. Echom frown was replaced with anger and deep resent, fueled by rage and shame.

"We’ll see about that." Shooting like a bullet, jack made his way to echom. Swinging his hand, the ogre tried to smash jack with his club. but there was a slight difference, between the two speed.

"Being a giant makes you powerful and all. But it also makes you prone to attacks!" Landing he got to work, making slash marks to the goblins chest. Then leaping from spot, avoiding echom’s hit. Running along his arm, jack aimed for the ogre’s eyes.

The reason why jack was able to defeat koban fast was because of echom’s help, and mostly blood decay skill. It’s effects were greatly improved having reached f rank, and it further increased with each direct hit it came in contact with.

Direct hits such as least protected spots like the eyes throat, a cut or blood from a wound, and so one. Simply put, any vital part it could rapidly spread faster.

"G-get away from me!" Echom screamed, hitting his body with his hand like a madman. Leaping up he crashed to the ground, making an earthquake in attempt to get jack off from him. But it was futile as jack was small and he big, like an elephant and an ant.

Not stopping he moved non stop, creating cuts all over echom’s body, inserting blood balls after blood balls. Hence heightening the effects greatly.

The ogre’s movements seemed to be slowing down, but jack didn’t get relaxed on it. He was on a death race for his life, and it was either him or these ogres.

[You have successfully killed a peek rank F ogre!]

[Rewards will be distributed soon..]

A light smiled formed on his face seeing the screen, indicating he’d successfully killed echom.

"I-i did it." A faint chuckle escaped jack’s mouth, sitting down on the dead body of echom. Beads of sweat strolled down his head like a stream, his breath ragged and raspy.
