The Undead system -
Chapter 62: Wife material
Chapter 62: Wife material
[Chaos energy: 0]
[Absorbing chaos energy]
’Luckily, my body automatically absorbs chaos energy like mana.’ Before jack successfully summoned Jin, it was no easy task. Failing in the two attempts, remaining one. Hesitating, he was convinced it would still result in failure probably because he wasn’t strong willed yet.
But with a little encouragement from his system, he finally did it and summoned Jin. His first ever undead comrade.
"I can see his stats?" Jack’s eyes widened in surprise staring at Jin. Seeing a system screen, just like his profile appearing before his eyes.
[Name: Jin tallen]
[Lv: 04]
[Class: undead summon]
[Strength: 34]
[Agility: 44]
[Stamina: 25]
[Intelligence: 17]
[Ability: speed buff]
[Skill: accelerate]
"Like I suspected he’s a speed type." Foxes were naturally fast creatures. With cunning intellect, outsmarting most other mythical creatures.
They were powerful according to the number of their tails. But they were mainly known for their speed, avoiding certain attacks and maneuvering their way. Around unpredictable dangers.
’He also has the accelerate skill.’ Jack had guessed, he got the accelerate skill from Jin. But he wasn’t really sure, cause abilities weren’t determined on his kills. But according to the system, and his class. Which suited him best.
But, according to his system. There was the possibility of it copying abilities, from other individuals he’d killed. Only if they were in path with his class.
’Wait. system, am I going to remain an undead forever?’ Jack inwardly asked. There was no one around the mortuary except him and Jin. But he still didn’t trust the latter, not knowing how loyal he was to him.
[No. Your class will change with time as you level up, accumulating energy thereby forcing an evolution. Harnessing more energy, with the cycle repeating.]
’So I can level up endlessly?’ Jack asked liking the thought of that. The feeling of constantly levelling up, and growing stronger was addicting. Like strong wine, soothing the soul
[Not exactly.. you will level up a couple of times, according to your path of destiny. But no living thing levels up endlessly. It’s against the laws of nature.] hearing the system explanation jack found it weird, how no living thing could continuously grow stronger endlessly.
Human beings, creatures, beasts, all had the same goal. To grow stronger and evolve into something more terrifying. By absorbing mana, or any energy attuned with their bodies.
But the thought of evolving endlessly didn’t seem absurd, infact it was plausible. Considering he’d met with hades, not just a god but a high level celestial god.
[Hades hasn’t currently reached his final evolution path.] The system clarified his thoughts.
’B-but what about chaos and silence? The two primordial forces before time. It says they were born from the eternal core, could there perhaps be other primordials?’ The sheer thought of that made jack’s body shiver. Like a very void force pinning his body down, overwhelming him.
[The idea of such isn’t disagreeable. But unfortunately, that information isn’t disclosed in my database.] Nodding, jack decided to focus on matters at hand.
"Growl!" Jin growled, obediently standing in place like a loyal dog. His eyes were white void of life, like a complete turned mindless zombie.
But even as an undead, he still held some intelligence which jack tested. Ordering him to carry some sticks, and digging a few graves.
Obeying, Jin sluggishly moved, letting out low grunts and growls. At first he was completely clueless, on how to pick sticks. Looking at jack for guidance, but only received a frown.
"Growl!" Jin growled seeing jack frown. Afraid of upsetting his master, Jin tried all sort of things. Kicking the sticks, waving his hand, even crouching down to lick the sticks with his tongue.
"He’s completely useless." Jack sighed, face slapping his forehead.
When he’d reincarnated as an undead, though his intelligence stat was low. It was no doubt the same when he was human, even sharper.
Eventually after a few couple of tries, Jin finally got the hang of it. Picking the stick one by one. His movements were clumsy and indecisive.
"Growl!" A creepy smile formed on Jin’s decaying face. Showcasing his work with pride, to his master.
"Good work, now the graves." Nodding Jin then got to work. Locating the shovel, and picking it up with ease.
Effectively utilizing his high stats, to quickly dig open some graves jack had pointed to.
"That’s enough, let’s go." Jack ordered with a poker face. Taking some steps he stopped, realizing something.
’I can’t take him like this with me to town.’ There were certain reasons he refrained, from bringing Jin along in this state.
First, the whole locals of kilroi town had witnessed jack kill Jin. And were well aware of the fact, his body was buried here.
So it no doubt stir fear into their hearts, which he didn’t want. He was powerful than them all, easily bending them to his will. But he also detested from revealing his full power, and trump cards. In case something might araise in the future.
’I can only store non living things in the store and he’s technically an undead.’ Being an undead they were both half living and dead, so he couldn’t store Jin there. As the system store could only store non living things.
[You can store him in the ring since he’s a summoned.]
’Really?’ Jack was oblivious to the fact he could do that. Not knowing much about magical items.
Stretching his hand he closed his eyes, trying to connect with the ring. It contained some traces of life energy, which he was already accustomed to. Already absorbing 5 life gems.
[Would user like to store summon?]
[Yes, no]
It didn’t take up to 10 seconds, already strangely familiar with how the ring worked. Selecting yes, jack watched with glistening eyes seeing dark fog envelope Jin’s body completely. Fading away, the latter body disappeared from sight.
"Incredible.." he lightly chuckled, slightly shaking his head. Repeating the process, except this time expelling the energy. The dark thick fog seeped out from the ring, and out potruded jin.
"Growl?" There was a look of surprise plastered on Jin’s face, not expecting that.
"From now on you’ll mostly stay in the ring, until I find need for you." Jack uttered, making Jin bow in response. With that he then placed Jin back in the ring, steadily making his way into town.
’I’ll head out to the goblin village tomorrow and try my luck on the previous king.’ The urge to get stronger by any means possible was intoxicating, and he didn’t want to wait.
When facing the goblin king, the latter used some lethal and strange skills which was very useful. And the goblin king wasn’t also lacking in the physical aspect, being a mage.
’Jin and goblin king would make a great companion.’ He chuckled passing by some buildings.
Jin was a speed type fox, focusing on physical stats and mana. But goblin king was a mage, solely focusing on magical attacks.
’I wonder if I’d unlock mana, or my chaos energy would increase?’ There were a few wild theories in his head, about acquiring the goblin king. But they were just his delusions of grandeur.
Reaching his apartment, he could already tell Karrie was inside sensing her aura. Normally, everyone had a distinct personality, body smell, or feature they could be recognized with. In Karrie’s case it was her aura.
"Chief!" Karrie smiled, slightly bowing her head. In her hands was a small brown bag, containing some items.
"I brought you some food, and a few herbs to help heal your body faster." Her voice was soft and fragile, dropping the small back on the table.
"If you’re trying to still get me to have intercourse with you then you’ve failed. I don’t feel anything towards you, and I never will." He frowned with a cold gaze, calmly walking past Karrie. Staying frozen for some seconds, her mind struggled to process what jack had just said.
"I-I didn’t bring the items to fuck you." Her playful tone changed, turning serious in a flash.
"As the second in command, it’s my duty to ensure the village chief survival. So I will do anything in my power to ensure that happens, regardless if you approve or not." With that she left the room, leaving jack a bit bewildered.
"That was unexpected." jack chuckled, amused at Karrie’s sudden development in behavior. He’d thought she would pout and scoff like usual, giving him reasons why she was important. But now, it was like she was a whole new fox woman. Not interested in jack anymore.
"Maybe she has a new catch?" Jack shrugged, taking a bite out of the abundance of meat in the tray.
[Or maybe you’re a jerk!]
"Whatever.. my decision remains final. Kelly is gonna be my first." Checking the bag, he saw a variety of strange concuts from different herbs. All which the system deemed potent, and safe to consume.
’She does make a good wife material.’ Jack inwardly chuckled, impressed by Karrie’s womanly instincts.
Having nothing else to do, he finished eating first before taking the herbs. Doing some light exercise and summoning Jin multiple times, to get a better feel of the ring.
Time flied as he was locked up in his room, attending to his own business. In preparation for his strike, on the ogre settlement.
The thick dense air created a mist, enveloping the town. The less transparent skies were much darker, indicating it was night.
’Tomorrow’s gonna be good.’ He thought laying on the bed. Many thoughts crossing his mind, mostly about one individual.
’I wonder how she’s doing?’ his heart ached, everytime the reality he couldn’t be with her yet hit him. Like a nail was being hammered to his skull.
’I’ll make sure I made you pay hades.’ He vowed. the sweet thought of revenge lingered in his mind, with his eyes closing shut.
