Chapter 55: A tie

††Location: enders planet, zephyr continent.††

In nerve city the heart of zephyr continent. people strolled by streets, going about their daily businesses. The sounds of keys being unlocked was occasionally heard, as a shop owner unlocked their shop.

The sky was a bit cloudy, with little sun rays passing through the thick clouds. Some parts of the cloud were dark in specific spots, hinting it might rain.

Vehicles blared across the roads moving in unison, directed by the multiple traffic lights. Though there was always some untamed individuals that broke the law, but they were quickly caught and dealt with. By the corresponding armed forces, tasked with such duties.

There some few noticeable features in zephyr continent. With the implementation of projection screens, added to tall buildings. Boosting advertising for various large firm companies and organization that could afford it, as it didn’t come cheap. There was also the introduction of smart watches, with holographic floating typing keyboards. Though this wasn’t as much of a technological advancement, as they weren’t stable. Overheating frequently, dying out quickly, and sometimes exploding. Powered by little batteries made from the green orb.

But no doubt, the most breathtaking electronic advancement was the sentinels. Artificial intelligence androids, powered by the green orb. Aimed to aid and reduce work load on humans. Also serving as a companion, programmed in multiple domestic and other services.

Before the launch of the sentinels presales were booming, as people from all parts of the three continents wanted their hands on one. It was a new age for man and machine alike, until the first year passed.

Multiple sentinels malfunctioning or exploding, resulting in severe casualties. Making sales drop by a margin, with the public erupting in a protest.

But it didn’t stop some few folks from still purchasing them, at their own risk.

In a tall grand skyscraper reaching incredible lengths in the sky, several luxurious cars were parked below. Figures of high importance of both genders stepping out. Their prescence alluring and bold, making their into the building. Guided by the female receptionist through the elevator, to the last floor to a particular room.

Inside the spacious room filled with expensive comfy chairs and desks, were crowded with people. Chatting away at irrelevant stuff, exchanging pleasantries with one another.

"Are you alright?" Miss pam asked seeing aldren sweating profusely. He was seated a chair from her, around the same round finely polished wooden desk.

He’d been strangely quiet since arriving here, which wasn’t his normal behavior. Being the outspoken and jovial person he was, so this seemed weird to her.

Not answering aldren was lost in his thoughts, blankly staring forward like a zombie.

"Aldren!" She called out again a bit louder, seeing him still frozen in place.

"O-oh.. am sorry miss pam. I didn’t notice y-ou." He spoke in a low tone, his voice void of life continuing staring forward.

’What’s wrong with him?’ Pam frowned, finding fen’s attitude now suspicious. Shrugging she decided to let him be for now, seeing the meeting was about to start.

’She’s not here yet.’ Pam thought staring at the empty seat besides her, with a name tag labelled governor xia peng placed on the desk.

’Why do I have an unsettling gut feeling something’s going to go wrong today.’ She lightly chuckled wrily, slightly shaking her head. Her eyes then trailed off to three figures, seated around a table by the left.

"Welcome everyone of the three continents, to the reoccurring universal directives association." Bryce voice cut through the air heightened by a microphone, reaching everywhere in the room.

The small talks, laughs and giggles slowly subsided, everyone’s attention focused on Marcus in front.

"Now, am sure we all know why we are here?" He asked to which they all calmly nodded aware.

"Good. Now I know there have been several debates, concerning the new developments on the orange orb." He paused a bit letting them disgust that bit of information.

"Now I know all of us have different biased views about Bryce plans. Which may contradict another, resulting in political grudges. As a counter measure, I have decided it best to take a unanimous vote." He said his tone containing a hint of worry and fear.

"I knew it would come to this." Jacob gently shook his head, already predicting this outcome. It was normal in most political affairs for world leaders to take unanimous votes, when they couldn’t decided on a particular matter.

Though this wasn’t always the best approach, as it didn’t entire resolve the matter. Dying it down temporarily. Which often led to some backlashes, in the economical chain of the country.

But it was no doubt effective, and the most plausible way to resolve such rougue affairs.

"Hmph.. I don’t see the point of voting, when they’re plainly blinded from the truth." Alex scoffed with a frown, folding his arms together. He didn’t like the decision made by Marcus one bit, as it would only aid Bryce more. Seeing most of the leaders here had at least a sentinel at their various homes, offices, and so on.

They were rich lazy bastards, opting to take the easy way out of everything, so it wasn’t a surprise if they all supported Bryce. Hearing his plan of longer lasting sentinels, and better energy supplying orb.

It was a good, no! great idea, like a win-win for both parties. The sentinels aiding humans, reducing workload and making life more fun. While they also learnt humans emotions and ways of life, serving as a companion. Thereby adapting and evolving themselves, into a better more efficient version.

"Patience young master.." Bruce calmly chipped in, seeing Alex getting all worked up.

"Bruce is right. We still don’t know what’s up their sleeves. For now, we just watch and see." Jacob’s tone was calm and calculating, his eyes staring at Marcus.

’So.. the wolf finally come out from his den.’ A light smirk tugged on Marcus lips also looking at Jacob.

’Whatever you’re planning old friend am sorry, but you can’t stop this. Humanity needs to see grow and this is our ticket.’ Slightly shaking his head, he then brought out a piece of paper from the desk drawer.

"This is an official agreement form, based on your decision on the current matter at hand." Marcus waved the cleen sheet of white paper in the air, displaying it to them.

"They are stationed on the desk besides your name tags. Please sign with your signature, on either the section labelled yes or no."

With that they all easily located the paper with a pen on top. There wasn’t any much content on it, except a light prepared treaty agreement. Effortlessly signing the form with ease.

Two female personnels then collected the form one by one, from both sides. Stacking them together, and handing it over to Marcus. To which he gave a thank you nod, placing them in the small alter glass stand.

"Without further ardue, I will now list out the parties that embraced or debunked the orange orb execution." His eyes hovered on the first paper, widened a bit.

’I thought he debunked the idea?’ Marcus wondered, seeing a senators name with his signature under the yes section.

"Senator aldren supports yes." Marcus declared making some faces go pale.

"What!? W-why?" Pam asked confused. It wasn’t a secret, who supported Bryce and who didn’t. So it was a bit of a shocker, seeing one of his critic siding with him.

"A-am sorry." aldren apologized in a low tone. His eyes twitched a bit, lowering his head fondling with his fingers.

"Bullshit! You’ve been acting weird lately, what the hell is wrong with you!? I-is it Bryce, did he threaten you?"

"Miss pam! I won’t allow you make such false accusations against mr Bryce." Marcus declared, his expression stern than his usual playfulness.

Ex governor pam wanted to inquire further but refrained, receiving a nod from Jacob.

"Hmph!" She scoffed, pouting like a little child.

"Thank you, now.. lets get back to business shall we?" Marcus smiled easing the atmosphere a bit. He then listed out the remaining leader’s names, and their decision registered on the form.

All the world leaders ruling the three continents were present here. A total of 14 in number. There were 5 chief of staffs, 2 mayors, 4 senators, 2 governor’s and 1 president being Marcus.

’Bastards.’ Pam couldn’t subside her anger, letting out low grunts occasionally. Many of which she’d thought were against Bryce, sided with him. While the one’s with him turned against him.

’Something’s seriously wrong!’ She inwardly screamed her intuition being right.

"Senator Jake farklin siding with Bryce." He listed, adding himself on team Bryce as last.

"Oh my, seems we’re a number short of signature." Marcus frowned seeing a paper without a signature.

"Am afraid we have to-"

’Bam!’ The doors to the meeting room were flung open, with a figure steadily making her way into the room.

"Sorry am late, traffic was a pain." She calmly said taking her seat besides pam.

"Composed as always I see governor xia." Marcus smiled. "Anyways.. we have already begun the signing process so if you would-"

"There’s no need for that, my answer remains no." She cut Marcus off, already making her decision.

"Hmmm." Marcus frowned gently rubbing his aching forehead a bit. "Then I guess we have a tie and according to the law, we must pass it to the masses to decide except-"

’Bam!’ Marcus was yet again cut off from his words, with the intrusion of yet another figure.

"W-who the hell tried to kill me!?" Baek roared in anger, a vein bulging on his forehead.
