Chapter 48: Party

’Swoosh!’ The horse moved in a straight line like a blur running in the air. Such a feet was considering possible in fairytales, but this was reality.

’Bam!’ Jack was sent skidding back a bit as the horse rammed into him. The speed was astonishing, even greater than his.

’That much from a headbutt.’ Jack’s eyes widened a bit, seeing how much damaged was sustained from that headbutt. It didn’t contain much power, the horse movement casual. Headbutting jack from the momentum of running on air.

But the impact was felt, as his chest was now hurting in pain.

"Hgghhh!" The horse neighed again, preparing for yet another attack. Prepping himself jack didn’t stay behind. His speed was slower than the horse, so he couldn’t afford to be on defense.

Running forward, his feet stomped the ground moving with precision. In his hands were the two daggers Yuma had held earlier.

They were of a bit better quality than the rest. The metal not that rusted, as even the edges of the blade held somewhat sharpness to them.

’I can’t break past it’s force shield.’ Jack thought. He’d attempted to test his test against this forcefield. He was stronger than Yuma, so he felt he’d have somewhat of an edge. But just like how she failed so did he.

Ramming it’s legs to the ground, the horse moved with precision. Swiftly blazing across the ground creating some small dents.

Crossing his arms together jack blocked the attack, but suffered the consequences. Feeling a bone or two broken in his wrists, as he skid back. But the horse didn’t give him any chance to regroup.

"Hgghhh." With a smug grin the horse charged forward. It’s eyes emitting the strange white smoke, making the air more heavier. Suffocating jack a bit.

"Not this time." Prepared jack lept up at the last moment, before the horse barged into him. Midair his body frozen held by an invisible force.

’Shit. I forgot about him.’ Jack gritted his teeth, seeing the goblin king hand stretched out. The dark foggy mist enveloping his body, pinning him in place.

Moving his wrist effortlessly, jack’s body was sent in multiple directions in the air. Crashing into some trees then lifted again, slammed hard to the ground like a rag doll.

"I thought you were amusing but turns out you’re not." The goblin smiled with a proud look of accomplishment. It’s eyes, that were filled with excitement and anticipation loosing it’s glow. Like a child outgrowing their toy.

Snapping his fingers, jack body shot with speed colliding with a tall tree. Making his shape as he potruded out back, impacting several trees. Several birds in the area flew in freight from the sudden commotion. Their wings flapping rapidly.

Calmly making it’s way towards jack location, the goblin king had a dull expression. ’Was that too much for him?’

He wondered not sensing jack’s aura in front.

"Hmm.. oh well, I had a little fun." Turning back to leave, the horse let out a subtle growl sensing something.

’Bam!’ A gunshot sound erupted garning the goblin king’s attention. There, he could see a figure fly past with deadly speed.

"He’s alive." Instead of fear and rage, the excitement that’d once faded returned to the goblin king lips. It’s eyes sparkling with a somewhat crazed gratitude of joy.

"You’re wasting your time boy. It’s futile." The goblin king chuckled a bit, seeing jack attempt to slash the forcefield like before.

’Bam! Crack!’ Before the goblin king’s eye, Jack’s strike created a small crack at the top of the forcefield. Launching some more strikes jack didn’t hold back, his expression sinister.

The goblin king watched with a shocked and hint of surprise, seeing jack’s strike getting through the forcefield. What was a small crack had now gotten bigger, spreading throughout the whole forcefield.

’Bang! bang! bang!’

Multiple bang sound erupted, as jack slammed the daggers into the forcefield.

’Crack!’ A loud crack pierced the forest, followed by the destruction of the forcefield. Unable to hold out after the series of strikes from Jack. It shattered in defeat, like small particles of glass raining to the ground.

’He actually got through.’ The goblin king mused, the creepy smile on his face never fading.

"Haha! I knew there was something special about you." The goblin grinned, his intentions about jack not wrong.

’Why does he feels different than before?’ The goblin king wondered staring at jack. It looked like he was a whole different person as his expression, personality, and aura had changed. Becoming much more darker with a sinister vibe.

Visible red crack lines could be seen in his white eyes void of life. His vein were on display, not the usual thick green bulging veins. but red and pulsing with an ethereal glow.

’Did he undergoe a change? No~ he couldn’t have suddenly evolved.’ The goblin king frowned. Jack’s aura was weaker than his, not even comparable to an F ranked creature. So how could he possibly evolve now.

"It doesn’t matter, you’re still no match for me!" Slamming his leg to the horse side, it neighed in response. It’s white eyes turning red from bloodlust. Even it’s sickening suffocating aura became more deadlier.

"Hghnn!!" This time the horse didn’t charge at jack moving it’s feet, but instead gliding in the air smoothly. like a water slide, going at a shocking phase of 500km/minute.

With a calm look jack was unaffected by the horse bloodlust aura. Even letting out a deranged chuckle, that sent fear into the hearts of a weaker being.

"He-he!" At the right moment he flung his hand forth, like a professional pitcher. Shooting an item from his hand.

"Neighhhnn!" The horse didn’t stop in it’s tracks, letting out a loud neigh accepting the challenge. Turning, it slammed it’s leg into the object kicking the object back with speed.

Jack’s brow crunched into a frown barely dodging the attack, which shot with precision. Going past several trees making a small hole in them. The red veins clutching to the trees bark like a parasite. Eating away at it, with a faster pace than before.

’Bam!’ The horse slammed it’s two hind legs at jack. In attempt to block he slashed both daggers forward, both attacks collided and it was clear who the winner was.

’Clang!’ The blades of the daggers were cleanly cut off, from the horse powerful back kick. The goblin king waved his hand, trying to make use of his telekinesis ability on jack but the latter was prepared. Shooting out a blood ball, which led to the horse dodging to the side.

’Boom!’ A small crater formed as he propelled himself from the ground, shooting like a rocket. His body piercing through the air like a deadly blade. His gaze hovering on the horse, which was the primary target.

"Hgnnn!!" It stomped it’s front feet letting out a powerful neigh. And the ground before it obeyed it’s command. Out from the depths of the ground shot out what looked like red vines tendrils, with spikes all over.

Spreading in a straight line heading for jack. Leaping from spot the tendrils potruded from the ground, hardening within a second. Forming several red spikes giving off a faint ethereal red glow.

’Blood control?’ Jack clearly knew what that attack was feeling it. Just like the sensation he felt when activating blood decay skill, it was similar with this tendrils that formed into spikes.

’Such blood control. What type of beast is it?’ Jack wondered, unable to ascertain which specimen of beast this horse belonged to.

Landing softly a few feet’s back from the horse, the latter didn’t give him a resting point. Swiftly moving towards his location.

’Rumble!!’ The ground beneath jack’s feet rumbled, shaking violently. Stomping his foot he shot out, sensing what was about to occur. Just like before, the red vine like tendrils sprouted out from the ground. It then hardened within the next second, formimg the red spikes.

Landing he immediately dashed from his spot, feeling the ground beneath his feet rumble. Moving from side to side jack had to worry about the potruding tendrils, whilst the horse charge. And to add more to his already filled plate.

The goblin king wasn’t staying idle, using his dark energy shooting out rays of darkness to jack.

His stamina was being depleted fast from the constant movement. Avoiding the sprouting tendrils, the horse’s ramage, and the dark rays from the goblin king.

A terrible ache spread all over his already numb body with each movement. Beads of sweat tug on his skin, along with the dried up blood from his and other kills.

Eventually, he couldn’t keep up with the trio of trials facing him.

"Argh!" He sharply exhaled caught by some tendrils that’d sprung upwards. Wrapping his body tightly like a viper, constricting his movements.

The red tendrils digging into his skin, without any resistance whatsoever. Pulsing more with life feeding off his blood.

The system notification flashed before his very eyes, as the tendrils drained his hp. Though it was one percent of his hp but at a fast pace. It hadn’t reached 30 seconds, but his hp was already below 40. More than halved of it’s full state.

"Giving up yet?" A cold grin flashed across the goblin king’s snickering lips. Slowing raising his head, the goblin king expected jack to conceed to defeat.

"Why? The party’s just getting started." A crazed smile tugged at the corners of jack’s lip. The red tendrils clinging to his skin, slowly being dissolved.
