Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Outsmarting, Who Can Outplay Ignatius Leclair

Maximilian adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, speaking clearly and slowly. Watching the dramatic transformations on the faces of the Yeager Family members, he offered a faint smile: "The eldest Yeager son’s medical expenses will be added to Mr. Leclair’s account."

Threats and coercion, executed with unfaltering precision.

Even someone as headstrong as Mrs. Yeager was left speechless, unable to utter a single word. She could only grab her son and scold him furiously, seething with rage: "You wretched fool, look at the mess you’ve made!"

To steal someone, he chose a married woman, and not just anyone—the other party was someone far more trouble than the Yeager Family could ever contend with. If Ignatius Leclair insisted on taking legal action, the scandal of Leo Yeager’s affair would inevitably spread across Southeast Asia. Not to mention, the Zamora Family had ties with the Golden Triangle. If they decided to storm the Yeager residence in fury with guns blazing, the disgrace would be unimaginable. The proximity of Southeast Asia to the Golden Triangle region made it unwise to provoke warlords in this era of lawlessness, as they ruled with unchecked power. Mrs. Yeager was so incensed her every nerve seemed in pain. Yet, despite her son being beaten, she could only grit her teeth and swallow her anger. Overcome with frustration, she erupted into hysterical weeping, crying, "How did I raise such a worthless disgrace of a son?!"

The tone abruptly shifted. Delphine knew this matter had been resolved perfectly. She let out a quiet sigh; when it came to scheming, power, and wealth, who could possibly outmaneuver Ignatius Leclair?

Uninterested in continuing to watch this farcical display from the Yeager Family, Delphine quickly left the intensive care ward. Ignatius Leclair’s expert handling meant, in the end, not even an apology from her would be necessary. The Yeager Family now wished nothing more than for this entire incident to have never occurred.

"Miss Delphine, let me take you to the set." Maximilian, seeing the matter of the assault resolved smoothly, exited the hospital and addressed Delphine with utmost respect. After all, this was the woman Mr. Leclair was willing to trade an exclusive oilfield development contract for. That oilfield in South Africa held astronomical profit potential.

"Thank you for your offer, Mr. Maximilian, but I’ll make my way back to the set later on my own." Delphine politely declined, as she was accustomed to doing things independently. Moreover, Maximilian was driving Ignatius Leclair’s car, which was far too ostentatious for her liking.

"Very well. If Miss Delphine needs anything, you can call Mr. Leclair directly." Maximilian offered a polite smile as he handed her Mr. Leclair’s private number, then took his leave.

Watching the black Bentley disappear into the distance, she gradually let the smile fade from her face and glanced at the time.

"Delphine." Jocelyn Yeager rushed out of the hospital anxiously, relieved to find she hadn’t gone far. His eyes lit up as he approached her, speaking with a heart full of emotion, "I’m glad you’re still here."

"Third Young Master." She smiled politely. Though the two of them had forged a certain camaraderie after fighting side by side the previous night, Ignatius Leclair’s warning echoed in her mind. She dared not get too close to Jocelyn Yeager.

"Thank you for what you did last night." Jocelyn smiled, the elegant features of his face still marked with a faint handprint.

"It was impulsive of me. If not for me, things wouldn’t have escalated this way, and you wouldn’t have been hurt." Delphine hesitated in her response. If only she hadn’t injured Leo Yeager, Jocelyn Yeager might have only suffered a few punches from his older brother. Things wouldn’t have turned out this dire.

"But I’m truly happy." Jocelyn grinned foolishly. He had long grown used to enduring in silence, yet last night, when Delphine stood up for him, he felt a warmth and softness in his heart unlike anything he’d experienced before. For the first time, he experienced a profound, unrestrained happiness.

There were so many words he wanted to say, but looking at Delphine’s delicate, jade-like face, and considering his current circumstances, he could only offer her a faint smile and bury all his feelings deep within. He would wait—wait until the power in his hands grew strong enough, strong enough to take her far away from all of this, away from the pain.

"From now on, if you’re ever bullied, you must fight back," Delphine said seriously, gazing at his refined and handsome face.
