Chapter 599: Chapter 261: Just Call Xiong Da
Uncle Victor took off his thick leather belt, put on a pair of gloves, and chopped a Y-shaped branch before heading towards the trap.
Upon close observation, the little bear looked no bigger than a medium-sized domestic dog at home, weighing just over twenty pounds at most. Its fur was disheveled and dull yellow, and the limb caught by the rope was very thin.
Uncle Victor was decisive, he pressed the branch against its head and then tied the belt around its mouth to prevent it from injuring anyone. In no time, the Losing Hand Rope bound the little bear’s forelimbs and hind limbs together.
The little bear, now thoroughly tied up like a dumpling, had eyes filled with terror. It kept howling, its mouth frothing with saliva as it struggled frantically.
"My goodness, I didn’t realize how tough Uncle Victor was while we were fishing and having a picnic, that was incredibly swift."
"You can tell those knots he’s tying are professional just by looking at them."
"It’s over, Annie’s little bear is restrained, dude’s using his big moves."
"What’s happening? Just came in, did they catch a brown bear? They aren’t planning to slaughter it for a barbecue, are they?"
"Get out of here, who barbecues bear cubs? This is the host and local guide rescuing it, understand? They’re temporarily tying it up to take it back to the camp!"
Seeing the chat in the live stream debate, Lin Yang said, "Everyone, don’t get too worked up. This brown bear cub has lost its mother for some reason. If left to survive in the wild, it would likely have a hard time making it.
Yue’er and I just convinced Uncle Victor to take it back to the camp for temporary rescue and adoption. We’ll release it back into the wild when it gets bigger. We don’t have a suitable cage, so we had to tie it up temporarily."
While Lin Yang was explaining to his viewers, the little bear had stopped howling.
He turned his head and saw that Uncle Victor had taken off his coat and covered it over the bear’s head.
Clearly, the darkness helped calmed the little bear down, not as hysterically frantic as before.
Victor: "This little guy is very weak, and his energy reserves are low; he can’t last long tied up like this, so we have to adjust our plans for today’s fishing outing."
Lin Yang and Yue’er were unfazed by this issue and nodded repeatedly, "Should we head back now?"
Victor: "The fish soup is ready; it won’t hurt to wait a bit longer. Let’s eat, then head back to camp."
What was supposed to be an enthusiastic picnic got disrupted by the arrival of a little bear, but Lin Yang and his companion had no complaints and immediately prepared to eat. Once they were full, they would return to camp.
The Chinook salmon soup was delicious.
Lin Yang and Yue’er each drank a full travel mug, eating the rye bread and sausage they brought with them, as well as the fish soup and freshly sliced raw salmon. Although it wasn’t a feast, it had its unique charm and was well worth the trip.
Worried about the little bear’s safety, what was supposed to be an hour-long lunch ended in just half an hour.
Uncle Victor extinguished the fire, packed up the cooking gear, wrapped the little bear in his coat, and took it aboard the boat.
The three humans and one bear turned the boat back and started towards the camp downstream.
At 3:30 in the afternoon, the fishing boat retraced its route back to the camp.
"Tina, help me find a new steel chain for tethering hunting dogs!" As soon as he stepped off the boat, Uncle Victor called out to his daughter.
Quickly, Tina fetched a dog chain from the utility room.
For the Camp Hunter, who had dogs all year round, such chains were plentiful, randomly selected from dozens available.
Although adult brown bears are terrifyingly strong, this little bear cub could easily be held by a simple dog chain. Uncle Victor secured it, then untied the ropes around its limbs, and finally removed the coat covering its head, allowing the little one to finally relax.
The brief binding hadn’t hurt it, but being tethered, the little one struggled desperately, and, unable to break free, it started shaking in fear.
The arrival of the bear cub suddenly caused the hunting dogs tethered to guard the camp to start barking madly, but Uncle Victor just shouted at them a few times, and they all lay down quietly. Lin Yang was amazed, as the large dog at his home had never been so obedient.
"It should be all right, right? Should we get it some food and water?" Yue’er, squatting on the side and staring at the little bear they had pleaded to bring back, still seemed somewhat worried.
Uncle Victor shook his head: "After such vigorous struggling, it’s not suitable to feed it right away. Let’s give it some clear water to settle down. This evening, when it relaxes a bit, we’ll feed it. Don’t worry; this little one is tough, won’t starve that easily."
Seeing how certain Uncle Victor was, Lin Yang and Yue’er didn’t insist further. They finally relaxed once they saw Uncle Victor take the little bear into a wooden shed storing firewood, put a water basin inside, and locked it up.
"Alright guys, we’ll pause the live stream here for today. I’ll go live again this evening to feed this little guy. Those who are free, remember to tune in then."
With a greeting, Lin Yang ended the live stream.
Though they hadn’t followed through with their entire itinerary, he was extremely exhausted from spending the day outside. Sitting down, he didn’t feel like getting up again.
With beverages bought for the camp available, Lin Yang sat in a chair and drank some juice, gradually resting his weary body.
Yue’er, on the other hand, was a bit tense. Since returning to the camp, her expression had been anxious, constantly worried about the little one’s condition.
Barely making it to the evening, she couldn’t resist grabbing some fresh fish from the kitchen and, pulling Lin Yang, went to the temporary wooden shed where the little bear was housed.
