The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 89

Chapter 89: Chapter 89

"This ended quickly before it could even start. There’s no way I am walking around with blood on my dress. I’m going home," Amelia began to stand up on her own.

It was disappointing that their time out would have to end quickly like this but there was nothing she could do. A couple of blood had stained the lower end of her dress and some had splattered towards her face.

"I can hear water. You can get cleaned up and I will get you a new dress for us to continue. If we leave things here without you getting the chance to have more fun, I get the feeling you will be angry with me for much longer."

"Well obviously," she dusted off her clothes. Amelia leaned to the side to look at the men Killian killed. Only the man who spoke earlier was alive. "You broke his leg?" She looked at Killian.

"I want to take a look at these slaves he mentioned. I won’t be taking him back to the castle if you don’t mind. I will be keeping him in my care," Killian snapped his fingers causing the man to instantly disappear.

Amelia opened her mouth but then closed it. "I keep forgetting that you are a powerful demon and I might be risking my life each time I am a bit bold with you."

"I don’t have any plans to kill my future wife," Killian reassured her. "It is your boldness that I find amusing. Continue with it."

"Right. Where is the water you heard? I think there should be a small stream close to the town but I have no idea which direction to go in," Amelia looked around at the trees which started to look identical.

"This way," Killian said, then reached for Amelia’s hand but stopped when he saw the blood on his hands. He placed his hands behind his back to wait until he would wash off the blood to touch her again.

Noticing this, Amelia said, "I am not afraid of seeing blood. You don’t have to keep hiding your hands. My life has not exactly been rainbow and butterflies if you have not noticed by now. I was about to get blood on my hands to stab that man. Who knew the king of the north would be so cautious about this."

Amelia found this to be cute considering the type of man Killian appeared to me. An excellent fighter and feared king yet he hid his hands with blood from her. She could not resist laughing.

Killian didn’t see why she was laughing but it was better than her being traumatized by what could have happened a moment ago. "You need to get that blood off of you now. Follow me," he began walking to take her to where he was hearing water.

"What about the bodies?" Amelia turned around to point at the men he had killed and found strange-looking creatures quietly surrounding the bodies. Choosing not to ask about them or stick around to find out what the creatures wanted with the bodies, Amelia hurried after Killian.

"You have excellent hearing," she complimented Killian after he easily found where the stream was. Back where they previously stood, she did not hear any water. "That means it has been easy for you to eavesdrop on what’s being said in the castle. Do you listen to what’s said in my bedroom?"

"No."

"Thank you. Truthfully, if I had your hearing I would be listening in to what you discuss with your people. What?" Amelia questioned with a smile when he looked at her. "I’m being honest here. Regular folks like me are nosey."

"I’ve noticed that during my short stay in the castle. All of you have spies trying to figure out what the next person is doing. There is no one around to trouble you," Killian said. He stooped down to wash his hands in the slightly cold water. "I will be back shortly after getting you a new dress."

"Alright," Amelia replied and watched Killian vanish into thin air.

Normally, she would not want to be left alone after what she just experienced but she had a feeling Killian would not allow for any harm to come to her for the rest of the night so she was safe alone. Anyone able to pop up on her after Killian said no one was around would have to be a demon.

With Killian gone, Amelia took off her coat and then began to take off the dress as she felt disgusted wearing it while there was blood from such a low life on it. To treat their own princess in such a way, she would have them punished if Killian had not killed them.

Amelia knew they were not upset that she was standing beside who they thought was the king’s killer. They seemed to not like she had made an order for slaves to be freed. She was certain they were going to hide the slaves they had in their procession. "There are going to be many more people hiding their slaves," she muttered.

Amelia stepped out of the dress and was only left in her undergarments. Now she would have to find a new one to sneak out in. She dipped her hand in the water to wash her face. Though the water was chilly, it felt good on her skin.

After her face was cleaned, she thought about what would have happened if Killian had made one wrong mistake tonight. She could have been taken advantage of and then taken to be a slave.

"I truly need to learn how to defend myself instead of calling for someone else to save me. I want to start tomorrow night-"

"As long as you are ready to deal with how strict my training is. Here," Killian held out the dress he bought for her.

Amelia held her chest, trying to calm down how much her heart was racing from Killian suddenly being by her side again. "Never do that again. You need to alert me of your presence whenever you magically appear again," she advised him. Any more and she would have suffered a heart attack.

"Noted," Killian replied. Trying to be respectful, he did not stare at her undergarments and looked everywhere but there. He was aware of how many humans didn’t like unwed couples seeing each other like this. There was no such rule for demons who enjoyed nudity. "Your feet have a bit of blood. I will wash it for you," he turned his attention there.

Killian expected her to smack his hands away but she allowed him to pour water on her feet and scrub away the blood. He was somewhat glad she wasn’t afraid of the sight of blood. Marrying a man like him meant she would see blood quite often.

"Is this your way of trying to make up for what happened to me?" Amelia asked while she tried to fix and clean her hair. It was tangled up with leaves and dirt from when she was pushed and dragged against the ground. "It’s a good start. You’re surprising me with the type of man you are. If we had been on good terms with the north, I would have pictured you to be controlling and a man who wants his wife to be silent. I would not have wanted to marry you."

"What would you have done to break it off? If you could not successfully kill your father, would you have run away from the castle to get away from the engagement, or like now, would you have sucked in your pride and married for the better of the people?" Killian asked.

"Better of the people?" Amelia chuckled, finding that statement to be funny. "My marriage was going to benefit my father, not the people. Honestly, I would kill myself instead of having to be hunted down to get married. Then, I would be with my mother. If not for the chance to become queen by marrying you, I would have killed myself. I never wanted to feel like my existence was just for ending wars. A princess’s value should be more than that."

She continued to say, "As your queen, I will make sure my name goes down in history alongside the names of all the king’s stories are told about and after me, you will find more stories for princesses and queens. I am sucking up my pride for other girls to have it easier."

"So I should start to expect people talking about me less and fearing the queen of the north," Killian chuckled. If he made her into a demon, he wondered how much she could make the world fear her as queen. She would be stronger and much harder to kill.

"That’s what I plan to happen. No offense but I do not plan to depend on your name to get some respect. So look forward to the days when I will surprise you and everyone else. I will make sure you are always entertained. Regardless of your reasons, I am glad you are giving me a chance to sit on a throne and rule. Thank you."
