The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 77
Chapter 77: Chapter 77
"Where on earth does he think he’s going?" Amelia became annoyed by Fraser showing up by the carriages. She had eaten and now it was time for her and Killian to go announce their marriage and the death of her father.
One court minister was tagging along with Blackwell guards while five of Killian’s men had lined up to travel along with him.
"Fraser, this trip does not need your presence. A new king being named will have its day and celebration. That is if you become king in the end. A lot can happen between now and the time the crown is meant to be placed on your head," Amelia stated to get a rise out of her cousin.
Anything was possible and Fraser might not end up taking the throne. Other relatives would love to snatch the throne away from him.
"Nothing you say will upset me, cousin. I am tagging along to keep an eye on the king of the north. Who knows what he is up to by going into our town? I will not stay quiet until you and he has left this land," Fraser declared.
Amelia shook her head at Fraser. "You speak as if you would be able to stop whatever he plans to do."
Fraser scoffed, amused by how Amelia was defending Killian. "He has charmed you already? I at least hoped you would have held out a bit longer but you are a woman."
"Killian has not charmed me. I have two eyes that work perfectly fine. I can see how dangerous he is and how you lack the ability to defend yourself or others. You certainly won’t be a king who goes out and fights his own battles. Instead of tagging along when you are not needed don’t you think you should start learning how to use a sword? I heard your last instructor called you useless," Amelia chuckled.
"You!" Fraser thought a step forward to approach her but in the distance he found Killina walking their way. He could hardly defend himself against Amelia with her little northern dog always around. ’Soon,’ he thought. Soon he would have the last laugh and Amelia would be begging him for mercy.
"King Killian. I hope after this trip you can see the beauty of our kingdom and how you have misjudged us for years. I hope we can leave the others and grab some good wine together," Fraser smiled, flipping his persona now that Killian was here.
’I wonder if his cheeks hurt from faking so much,’ Amelia stared at Fraser’s mouth. She wondered if he goes to bed at night, unable to sleep comfortably from the pain.
"I have always seen the beauty of this kingdom. It’s the men trying to start wars with me that I could not stand. I don’t have plans to share drinks with you. You don’t seem to be the type to have the same taste in wine as me," Killian politely declined Fraser’s offer. Human wine never tasted good to him. "Princess."
"Yes," Amelia looked up to acknowledge him and then looked back at the carriages but she found herself slowly turning to face Killian as his appearance dawned on her. "Why aren’t you weren’t a shirt, Killian? Don’t tell me you plan to greet my people with one?"
"I’m used to the coldness of the north but your sun here is scorching hot. I thought I would enjoy it against my skin until we get to town. Do not worry, I do not plan to announce our marriage like this though it would be helpful to get some of the women to like me," he grinned.
Amelia didn’t find his words to be funny. "Put on a shirt the moment the town comes into view," she said before leaving to get inside her carriage. She was starting to regret having the trip to town continue as planned. She would enjoy not having to be around Killian and Fraser.
"Wait," Amelia realized something. Killian had come to their castle without any horse and carriage. How on earth was he supposed to get into town unless he would run there? "Are you supposed to be traveling with me?"
Killian patted her head as he walked by to go into her carriage. "How else do you expect me to get there? Should I fly?"
"Flying. Hilarious," Fraser chuckled. He followed behind Killian to get inside Amelia’s carriage even though he had his own.
"There is no way in hell that I am going to share a carriage with Killian and Fraser. I don’t need to hear one trying to get on the good side of the other," she muttered, highly annoyed by the sight of them walking toward her carriage. The peaceful aura she had in her carriage would be ruined with those two in there. "Fraser, you will not be riding with us."
"Why not? As a future king, I want to spend every possible moment I can speaking with Killian to create a bond to make the alliance between the north and our kingdom stronger. This is more than you, Amelia. Grow up," Fraser mouthed the last part to her.
"I don’t care about the two of you creating a bond or whatever but I cannot handle the two of you in my carriage at the same time. Please escort Killian to your carriage so that you may talk there. Come, Cyrus," she called to the man behind her. She gently shoved Fraser from blocking her path and entered her carriage followed by Cyrus.
"Killian, my carriage is right behind. You might find it more suited for a man like yourself. I have better taste than my cousin does when it comes to these sorts of things. Should I-"
"Stop pestering me," Killian cut off Fraser before entering Amelia’s carriage. He would be more entertained riding with Amelia than her cousin who never knew when to shut up. "Don’t look so annoyed, princess. Anyone would think you dislike the presence of your future husband. Forgive me for coming in uninvited but if I stay with your cousin too long I might end up killing him."
"If only," Amelia muttered. Fraser was getting on her last never now that he was in the castle more often.
Fraser was pretending to be loyal to Killian and since Killian always appeared by her side, she had to deal with listening to their conversation.
"If you wish for it to happen you only need to say the word. I can have him beheaded right away," Killian stared at Amelia awaiting her answer. The scent of death after she killed her father still lingered around her and he wanted it to increase again. It was such a lovely scent.
"No thank you. It would be a hassle to find someone to replace him unless you give up on marrying me and let me become the queen of this land. I would be the best person to keep a truce between the two kingdoms. I would not betray you after what I know. The plan you have about our children, you can kill him after that."
"Hmm, I see. Then I will keep that in mind. Aren’t you afraid to talk about killing someone in the open like this?" Killian asked.
"No," Amelia shook her head. There wasn’t anyone nearby and she was certain Killian would have sensed if there was. Surely, he wouldn’t have let her reply with someone close by. Plus, Cyrus would have warned her"The only people to hear us are your people. My carriage is thick enough that not even the coachman could hear what is being said unless we start screaming. With that being said, let’s end that conversation here."
"How am I a demon but my family is more civil than the one you have? In the future, we will have to keep our children away from certain family members on their side. I hope I can be a good father so my children would never dislike me as you did with your father."
Amelia rolled her eyes. "Let’s get married first before children can be mentioned. That sort of thing is the last thing I want to think about. Focus on how you will speak with the people in town and please prepare yourself to put on your shirt."
"Why? Will you boil with jealousy if other women look at me? It would be nice to hear you admit that," Killian continued to watch her every movement while Amelia did everything she could to avoid his gaze. "I will have my shirt on before we get out, princess. There is no need for you to be upset."
"I am not upset. I have a lot on my mind while you seek entertainment by annoying me. My people will not take too kindly to your presence and they are allowed to react that way but I am worried about a riot starting. I do not want anyone to get hurt," Amelia stated as she looked out the window after her carriage exited the gates.
