The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 68
Chapter 68: Chapter 68
"Can we have a peaceful dinner without discussing the throne, war, or anything else? I want to eat and return to my room quickly," Amelia took a seat at the table.
"I’d like the same," Margaret said. "There was too much noise in the castle. A moment of peace would be nice," she looked at Killian.
Killian sat down next to Amelia. "As far as I am concerned my men have not caused any trouble. Most of them will depart for the north tomorrow so you will have your peace then. Try to hide your smile," he addressed the expression on Fraser’s face. "I don’t need an army to defend myself if you are thinking about attacking."
’Fraser would be a fool to try attacking Killian. Killian is much bigger than Fraser. Well, it would be good to be rid of my cousin,’ Amelia quietly sipped on a cup of water.
"I did not think of attacking you. I am happy that the north and the Blackwells are on the path to peace. I cannot wait for my cousin to sit on your throne," Fraser blatantly lied.
"Is that so? I’m curious about the discussion you two had in the destroyed tower. Isn’t that a dangerous place to be?" Killian questioned.
"I went there to see the damage done and found Amelia there. I’d like to say for future reference that cousins argue. I might bicker with my cousin but I still have a love for her. More than she can imagine. I hope that you will treat her well in the north," Fraser replied.
Killian picked up a cup of wine and swirled it around. "I did not ask for the extra part but sure. I have no intention of mistreating my future wife. She is now one of my people and I treat all of my people well. She is someone I would kill for if someone tries to harm her. Be it a common man or a king, they will meet their end."
Fraser picked up that Killian knew he had gotten into an argument with Amelia in the tower. Amelia had found herself two good northerners to keep her safe. There was a benefit to being a woman after all. Amelia could flaunt her body and seduce all of these men. "I plan to be the same when it comes to my future wife and queen," Fraser forced a smile.
"What will become of me and my child?" Annabelle inserted herself back into the conversation. It seemed like everyone had their futures sorted out while she was still concerned about her own. It wasn’t that long ago she was promised to be queen but Richard’s death left her position in the castle to be shaky.
"The castle will take care of the child. That is all," Margaret replied to Annabelle’s question. There was nothing more Annabelle should expect now that Richard was dead. He was the only person keeping her here. "You will live a quiet life from now on. Perhaps, not in the castle but a house can be given to you."
Annabelle smacked her hand against the tabletop. "I will not leave the castle. I’ve earned my right to stay."
"By getting pregnant?" Fraser chuckled. When would mistresses learn they were disposable? She should be thankful the castle would be generous to take care of her. That will change when he is made king. He did not view the child in her stomach as family. Instead, it was competition and he considered getting rid of it permanently. No one would care about what happened to Annabelle and her bastard.
"I carry a Blackwell in my stomach whether anyone present at this table likes it or not. Richard had good plans for this child and it’s a shame you are planning to send me away now that he is dead. This kingdom will fall," Annabelle boldly declared. Fraser will run them into the ground. Her child was their only hope. "You know I am right, Amelia."
"Do not drag me into this. It wasn’t long before you were grinning and happy about the future my father was laying out for me. I warned you many times to not get attached to life in the castle. No one can change the fact that there is a Blackwell in your stomach but that child will not become king. Please be satisfied with the money and shelter the castle will offer you. It is more than enough," Amelia said.
Annabelle needed to stay quiet at a time like this when she had no one to back her up and protect her child from anyone who disliked its existence. Fraser will get rid of it if Annabelle keeps trying to make the child take his place as king. Then Annabelle will be tossed out of the castle like the many mistresses before her.
"Can we please move on from this? Killian Bune is sitting here at the same table as us and yet we cannot stop our arguments. Please let dinner go by quickly. Why isn’t the food being served yet?" Amelia looked around to see where the maids with the food were.
"Why are you in such a rush dear?" Margaret watched Amelia with amusement. She noted how Amelia and Killian seemed to be getting along well. ’The two of them will do great things for this kingdom,’ she thought.
"Nothing," Amelia sank back in her chair. In the end, she decided to be patient and wait for dinner to go by as it normally would. Eventually, she would hear what secret Killian had to tell her.

"Finally," Amelia placed her knife and fork down on her empty plate. "It is time," she turned to Killian.
"So it is. Lead me to a private spot where none of the people from your castle can see us," Killian placed his cup of wine down "This wine is dreadful. How could anyone possibly get drunk from this?"
"They’ve prepared one of the strongest wines we have to offer and you drink it like a fish in water. How on earth are you not drunk?" Amelia couldn’t comprehend how he looked perfectly fine. "That’s a question to be answered another day. At least you’re not on the verge of passing out and we can still have our conversation."
"Grandmother, I will be returning to my room. I will visit you first thing in the morning to have a chat. Have a good night," Amelia stood up from her chair.
"Alright, dear. It’s been a little while since we have gotten a chance to speak. I will have treats prepared for us," Margaret replied. "The two of you can run along to wherever you are going."
Margaret saw right through the fact that Amelia was not going straight to her room. The girl practically jumped up and down in her chair from the moment she arrived and as they ate, Margaret noticed how Amelia would keep glancing at the amount of food on Killian’s plate. Amelia would smile when the plate was almost empty but then glare at him when he asked for more.
Killian stood up from his seat, quickly followed by Amelia. "Good night Margaret," he bid goodbye to the only person left at the table that he found intriguing. "Let’s go before you drag me out."
"Grandmother, I cannot believe you are indulging this growing relationship between the two of them. He killed your son but yet, you speak so kindly around him. It feels like you treat him better than me and I am your grandson-"
"Fraser," Margaret cut him off. "Shut up. Prepare to be surrounded by tutors tomorrow to learn what you need to do as a king. Hopefully, it will not take us an entire year for you to learn how to be a king."
Meanwhile, Amelia led Killian to her mother’s ruined tower as no one would be around it due to the damage from the fire and how dangerous it was to enter.
"Please tell me what it is now. I have been tortured by waiting long enough. What is the secret you have to tell me?" Amelia asked before they could reach the tower.
"Are you prepared to run away from my side?" Killian walked with his hands placed behind his back. He anticipated how her curious expression would change in a matter of minutes. "It’s no secret the north is nothing like what you will find in this kingdom. We are special people who come from a place full of fire and one day, you will visit that place by my side. The majority of people from the north are demons and-"
"Demons," Amelia chuckled. "Killian, I have no time for jokes. Please tell me what you have been..." her words trailed off when his dark hair suddenly changed to white and his eyes were now a striking red color. "Demon," she mumbled in disbelief. How is it possible for Demons to exist?
"Is this the part where you run away?"
"No!" Amelia exclaimed as running away was the last thing she wanted to do right now. "There are so many questions I need to be answered but I do think I might pass out at any given moment."
