The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 62
Chapter 62: Chapter 62
A series of gasps were heard throughout the throne room from everyone belonging to the Blackwell kingdom. Only Killian’s men seemed to have predicted what he planned to do as he did not have to ask for the sword. Someone just threw it at him like they read his mind.
Amelia’s body trembled at the sight of Killian causally picking up Ricardo’s severed head from the floor and walking toward her with it.
"Here," Killian held out Ricardo’s head as if Amelia was supposed to take it.
Without giving him a response, Amelia began to leave the throne room with Cyrus right on her heel. Was Killian truly expecting that she would be grateful after watching such a dangerous act? As a princess, she never got to see such things and was only able to hear the men screaming the day her father used her as bait.
"What the fuck," Killian tossed the head off to the side causing the other court ministers to jump in fear when it rolled their way. The man he killed said something disgusting about the princess so he killed him. Shouldn’t she be thanking him right now? Why did she leave with that man right behind her?
Annoyed, Killian followed after Amelia to have a word with her leaving everyone in the throne room more confused than when they entered.
"Stop walking," Killian called out to Amelia when he caught her hurrying away, most likely to her bedroom. "You were just in the middle of a war. Don’t tell me you have never seen blood."
"We can’t all be like you who see blood every day, King Killian. My presence does not seem to be needed in that room since everyone is deciding what to do with my life. Please return, you have a lot to discuss with those men. Let go of me," Amelia halted when Killian grabbed her hand.
"She said to let go of her," said Cyrus.
"I heard her loud and clear. Leave us be," Killian ordered Cyrus while he released her hand. He needed to have a serious conversation with Amelia. He was never the type to chase after anyone like this and quite frankly, he didn’t plan to continue doing so depending on her next answer.
"Go Cyrus. Look for Gina, I will be alright." Amelia wanted Cyrus gone so that he would not get hurt. Cyrus looked unwilling to move but eventually, he left her with Killian though Amelia was certain Cyrus had not gone to search for Gina and was somewhere close. "What do you have to say to me? If you expect me to say thank you for what you did back there, I will not."
It felt good to have someone take out one of her enemies for her but Amelia found it hard to witness the sight of Killian easily taking off Ricardo’s head. She was brought back to the reality of how dangerous Killian was.
Amelia felt angry when she remembered the time she thought about him after their first encounter. It wasn’t that she had fallen for him or liked him but she was captivated by his looks.
Her grandmother was right that he could be their enemy but she couldn’t deny how good-looking he was. Whatever attraction she felt was simply because they were a man and a woman. Nothing more. Killian was mistaking that same feeling for something else and wished to marry her.
Killian was still her enemy who took over her castle and hurt people. Even though they hurt his people first, she couldn’t help being upset.
"I did that for you. If I wanted to hurt you, I would have done so already. I am intrigued by you princess. You have no idea how many years it has been since someone sparked my interest. Why can’t I be your husband? I will protect you and the north will never go to war with the Blackwell kingdom unless you guys start it," Killian promised. He was being quite generous for a high-ranking demon who once loved destruction.
Killian still enjoyed destroying others and causing chaos but he was trying to be different around the human woman in front of him. She could see the other side of him another time. Cutting off someone’s head was far from being the most dangerous thing he could ever do.
Amelia sighed for having to go through this again. "All I desire is a husband who can sit pretty on the throne beside me and keep his mouth shut while I rule. You don’t fit the criteria, Killian. I am not looking for a warrior," Amelia turned away from him wishing to put some distance between the two of them.
Not allowing her to run away once again, Killian grabbed her hand as gently as he could to keep her still."When the men at court point their swords at your neck princess, you’ll need a warrior by your side instead of a puppet. You won’t be able to get rid of me so easily Amelia. Not when I have made up my mind to have you."
"I am not something for you to simply have Killian," Amelia replied even though her words didn’t match what she was feeling. Her heart fluttered for a brief moment at the thought of becoming his woman even though she knew she shouldn’t like it. She fought hard to get rid of the obvious attraction she had toward her enemy.
"Aren’t you? The men out there seem to be putting a good price on your future. Become my wife and I will become your weapon. I will make sure you have any throne you desire. Why must you continue to fight the truth that you want me just as much as I so desperately want you?" Killian stared down into her eyes waiting to see if she was going to deny the obvious attraction they shared.
"I-I can’t. You are my enemy."
"Marry me and become my queen instead," Killian proposed. "Rule the north with me. I will not cage you up as your father has done. Do not let the fire you have to be a strong queen dwindle away and remain in the shadows of someone like your cousin. Think about your people who will benefit from a union between us."
"I know I should have my people’s best interest at heart but I have always hated my pitiful ending of being sent away to stop wars. It’s unavoidable and tiring to fight to stop. Fine," Amelia took a deep breath. Even with the castle in chaos, she had no one but her grandmother, Cyrus, Gina, and strangely Killian on her side. "I will marry you. You must keep your word to never attack my people and I will rule with you."
"Unless your people attack us first," Killian added an important detail to their agreement.
"You have no idea how much it hurts me to lose the throne to Fraser," Amelia clenched her fist out of anger.
"Who said that?" Killian grinned.
"What? I don’t understand. When I marry you, someone else with Blackwell blood will sit on the throne. It can only be Fraser at this point. Don’t tell me you plan to put one of your people on our throne. Our throne has always had a Blackwell on it and I will take back my-Ow," Amelia touched where Killian flicked her head.
"It is not good for you to overthink so much, princess. A Blackwell will remain on the throne however it will not belong to your cousin forever. A king or queen with Blackwell and northern blood will sit on this throne."
It suddenly dawned on Amelia what Killian planned to do. She might not get to sit on the Blackwell throne but it will go to one of her children. Amelia did not dislike that idea. Whether she birthed a son or daughter to one day claim this throne, she wanted her child to make it easier for a princess like her to one day claim the throne without anyone blocking her path.
Killian pulled Amelia against him by the hand he was holding. "While you are getting excited about the future, I hope you realize that we will have to start trying for numerous babies the moment you become my queen."
Amelia blushed hearing his blunt words when the sun was so high in the sky. "Numerous? A throne only holds one person."
"The north will also need an heir dear princess."
"That’s just two. Nothing more than that. Do not just stand there and smile at me, Killian. Nothing more than two," she held up two fingers. Amelia was not going to have numerous children with a man like Killian.
"Life as a royal is quite dangerous, we should have a backup for each child and then a backup for that other child," Killian joked as there was no way on earth anyone would be able to harm his offspring but it was entertaining to see Amelia turning red. "Once you have me, I guarantee you’ll be addicted. It’s inevitable we will have many children."
