The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 61
Chapter 61: Chapter 61
The throne room immediately went silent when Killian entered with Amelia by his side. Amelia ignored the judgemental stares of the men who laughed at her when her father was alive. Now, they could only bite their tongues to hold back what they felt about her as it was obvious she had Killian’s support.
Killian led Amelia in the direction of the throne and she was certain he was going to make her sit on it but he didn’t. He stopped right before they could sit on it.
"It’s just a chair," he whispered to her. "Speak. What have all of you come up with? If it bores me, I shall kill the messenger."
"King Killian Bune," Fraser stepped into the middle of the room.
Amelia narrowed her eyes, confused by Fraser’s presence in the castle. He was not here when the north attacked the castle unless he had been secretly here. Or, someone sent it to him this morning and the northerners let him in.
To get her answer, she looked at the man beside her who would know everything. "Did you send for him or my cousin here all along?"
"How rude of you to interrupt his grand moment," Killian said but his smile said otherwise. He seemed amused that she had asked him a question when her cousin wanted the spotlight on him only. "He came to the gates pouring his heart out for me to have a word with him so I let him in. He’s one of the people to inherit the throne after all. Don’t worry, your future husband has something in mind."
’You’re not my future husband yet,’ Amelia thought but she was curious to see what Killian had in mind for Fraser. Looking back at where Fraser stood, obviously annoyed that Amelia and Killian were having a conversation when it was time for him to speak, she received a glare from him only for Killian to be greeted with a smile. ’Wow,’ was all Amelia could think at this moment.
"My name is Fraser Adams, your highness. My mother is the sister of the late king. Before my uncle was killed, he had many conversations with me about being his heir. The king left behind no heir as we are not certain what the child in his mistress’s stomach is. For now, I will become the next king of the Blackwell kingdom and I pledge my loyalty to the north. As king, I shall see to it that the Blackwells never attack the north," Fraser spoke with great confidence.
"What a load of bullshit," Amelia accidentally spoke out loud.
Fraser had an ego similar to the one her father had. He would kiss up to Killian now but not forever. He would tighten up the number of guards around the castle and attack the north to show Killian the type of king he was.
"If you have something to say to your cousin, you should say it out loud. It would get an interesting conversation going. I can sense the lies but please enlighten me, do you think he will make a good king?" Killina asked Amelia. She knew the people here better than he did and she could not stop her honesty from pouring out of her mouth.
"No, and it’s not due to the fact I want to become queen. I see my father in Fraser. Another king who will care about himself and in danger my people. I don’t care what you are planning but please do not let innocent people pay for what my father started. You’ve already spilled enough blood on our land."
"I think I’ve hardly spilled enough, princess. My anger is far from being suppressed and until it is there is more blood for me to spill. You there," Killian turned his focus from Amelia to the man who spoke last night. He singled out Ricardo to speak. "Let’s hear what you have to say."
’Why? Ricardo is nothing but a mere court minister. I’ve offered him a good plan. What did Amelia whisper to him?’ Fraser could not help but think Amelia was getting in his way. ’Has she no shame standing next to the man who killed her father?’
"King Killian," Ricardo came to stand beside Fraser and bowed his head. "I also agree that Fraser Adams shall be made the future king until we see what the gender of Richard’s unborn child is."
"What about the princess? She shared the blood of your late queen and king. Surely, you can find a husband to stand beside her on the throne. Wouldn’t that be a bright idea?" Killian suggested.
"A princess has never taken the throne and become queen in our kingdom. The throne has always been passed to a male relative. Princess Amelia is young and has no idea what it is like to run a castle-"
"How many castles have you run?" Killian interrupted Ricardo to ask Fraser this question. The young man seemed to be around the same age as the princess.
Unlike the Blackwells, the north once had a queen ruling because she had taken what she wanted. She was a ruthless ruler from the beginning to the end of her time as queen. Perhaps the men here should meet a couple of demon women from the north.
Fraser spoke up, "None but I have-"
"Then your reasoning for the princess not becoming queen seems to coincide with the young man you want to make the next king. Just stick to saying she is a woman and you will not accept her as your queen. I’ve made the proposal for your princess to marry me and become my queen," said Killian.
Ricardo frowned as he disliked the idea of Amelia being in such a powerful position. There was always something he disliked about her that made him want to see her fail over and over again. "King Killian, the princess, has been promised to another prince. Their group will arrive in a week. She cannot marry you."
"We can break that engagement," Fraser suggested to everyone’s surprise. "If this is one of the ways you think you would be able to trust the north, we should go through with it. However, I think it would be hard for my cousin to be with the man who killed her father and find it hard to rule over northerners. Please consider marrying her off to a relative you have so that she may live a peaceful life in the north."
’He doesn’t like the idea of me becoming queen. None of them do even when it is not the Blackwell throne I would sit on as queen.’ Amelia felt like laughing at how much they hated her for no reason.
What had she done to Ricardo? Nothing. Fraser was mad at her for being the king’s child instead of him. How was she meant to control what parent they were conceived by? If only Fraser knew what hell was like living in the castle he would stop dreaming of living there.
Amelia had to admit that Killian was right. All the men present in the throne room would find a way to dispose of her if he made the decision to make her queen. She would have to always be on edge that one of them would try killing her. There was no doubt she would end up poisoned in her sleep just like her mother.
Still, she couldn’t bring herself to think about marrying Killian. He was her enemy even when they stood so close and she would be sent away to live in the north. It was a hard future to think of.
’I’d rather die than let them bargain over my future once again. I’ll take Fraser and all these men present with me before I go,’ she clenched her fist.
Killian could feel Amelia’s burning rage next to him. It was about time she noticed the extent to which all these men were against her. Now, it was time to hand her a gift. "I will think about your suggestions. Go back to where you previously stood. Not you," he stopped Ricardo.
Ricardo stood confused as to what more the king of the north had to say to him unless he was being considered as a stand-in until the next king could be picked. It was something he had always desired which was why he stayed so close to Richard. He felt like he had been ruling through Richard whenever he stood by his side.
"I heard something interesting from your mouth last night," Killian spoke as he left Amelia’s side and approached the lone man standing in the middle of the room. "Something in regards to the princess being sent away and I have not stopped thinking about it since then. I’m thinking about offering the princess a gift to make her feel better about the loss of her father and you shall help me with it."
"How can I help you with it? No," Ricardo’s eyes widened when one of Killian’s men tossed him a large sword.
"Your life of course," Killian grinned as he swung the sword aiming it for Ricardo’s throat.
