The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 57
Chapter 57: Chapter 57
"You wouldn’t be able to understand what I have been going through. It must have been easy for you to become king simply because you wield a penis. How wonderful," Amelia muttered.
"I had to kill someone and then I became king. See, we’re a match made in hell," Killian stated, proving why it made sense for them to be married.
"You had to kill someone?" Amelia repeated the words slowly. Nowhere in their books about the north did she read about him having to kill someone to become king. They should be able to know about something like this unless all the books about the north weren’t public. "Wasn’t your father the previous king?"
"Just because I’m a man doesn’t mean things were easy for me but I understand how much harder it must have been for you. If I was in your position, your father and all his followers would have been long dead."
"How long have you been in the castle? How long have you been watching me? I’m certain I heard your voice when I was with my grandmother," Amelia said as she wanted to get to the bottom of it.
How on earth was Killian able to get into the castle without anyone noticing him? How could anyone miss his tall frame and his long dark waist length hair tied in a ponytail? No one else in the castle fits this description.
She was even more curious to know where Killian was when she killed her father. Why wasn’t he blackmailing her with what he knew? Why didn’t he stop her to get the satisfaction of killing her father with his own hands?
Amelia could not understand the way Killian’s mind worked.
"A little after dinner. That is when your guards became easy to slip by. How the Blackwells were able to win wars is beyond me or was it your incompetent father who ruined your good name?" Killian wanted to go with the latter after he remembered the bait with Amelia.
"My father allowed a lot of things to slip by in the castle and kingdom. He wasn’t a ruler who cared about his people and he hardly cared about his family. The only thing he seemed interested in these days was finding an heir-Why on earth am I telling you these things?" Amelia suddenly caught herself. She was having a pleasant conversation with her enemy.
"It is because I am good at conversations. You no longer wish for the north to be your enemy but yet, you won’t have a simple conversation with its king? From the very start, you have never been my enemy and we are not enemies right now. If there is anyone who should be upset it is me. Your people attacked one of my villages after all. An innocent village I might add and forced those people into slavery."
"I understand that but I don’t want my people to get the wrong idea by seeing us walk so close and having a simple conversation. I’m sure everyone close to my father is pointing their fingers at me when I have done nothing. Well, when it comes to you storming our castle," Amelia added due to the fact she was the one to kill her father.
Killian kept his eyes on Amelia as they walked to wherever the hell she was taking him. The fire he saw right now wasn’t the same as the day she hit him with the shoe or when she stood up for her little dog when the man from a while ago was outside her door. That fire was what made her intriguing but if she continued to remain in this castle she would certainly lose it.
The first human he found intriguing after many years of living in this world wasn’t going to become boring just yet. Killian wanted to see if she was giving proper support what would happen to this little princess?
"Anyone with common sense should view it as you trying your best to make sure no one gets hurt. Then again, common sense doesn’t seem so common in this kingdom. If you are afraid your people will call you a traitor, let’s end our walk right here. I will find someone else to provide me with a room or I will find one on my own. I would kiss your hand goodbye but I can already see a sword ready to point at me," he drifted his gaze from Amelia to Cyrus. "You should avoid my wolves. They are looking to eat you."
Amelia watched the back of Killian while he walked away. Surprisingly, he wasn’t what she was expecting. His presence was certainly terrifying and there were times when he looked at her she forgot to breathe but he was better than she expected.
He could be destroying the castle right now but he was not. That was generous of him. Too generous.
"Princess, please do not fall for how nice he appears," Cyrus spoke up after Killian was out of sight. "He is still incredibly dangerous and there must be something he is hiding."
Cyrus did not believe everything would be peaceful now. Killian knows Richard is dead but he’s still here. Was it only to get Amelia to marry him or something more?
"I don’t trust that man as far as I could throw him and I could hardly pick him up. I have no idea what he is thinking and I am wary about this idea of us getting married. At least for now no one else is getting hurt. It could be a lot worse but I will take what we have instead. Do you think they will allow us to visit my grandmother?" Amelia feared Gina might not have made it to her grandmother or she had been caught.
"All eyes will be on you from Killian’s men. Although you want to check up on Gina and your grandmother, it is best you do not draw attention to them. I’ll check on them later but right now, you should go back to the safety of your room. It is not safe with all of these men around," Cyrus replied.
He wanted to take Amelia back to her room right now and guard it until morning came. His only priority was Amelia and he would not let a single hair on her head be touched.
It was a difficult decision to not check on her grandmother at a time like this when the castle was filled with dangerous men but Amelia knew she should listen to Cyrus. He had better knowledge of Killian and his men.
"Okay. Let’s go back. We’ll check on the first thing in the morning. We need a proper good night’s rest to prepare for tomorrow. I fear what Killian will do when the sunrises," Amelia turned around to go in the direction of her bedroom.

The night quickly changed to morning and though most people had fallen asleep last night, they weren’t able to get over the fear they felt last night when they woke up now. Everyone from the Blackwell castle was on edge, nervously waiting for what would happen to them today.
Amelia woke up at the crack of dawn. She got dressed on her own and immediately stepped out of her room to see what the situation with the castle was like now that night had passed."Cyrus?" She called his name in shock when she found him standing outside her door with his sword in his hand. "Did you not sleep at all last night?"
"No," he replied. Cyrus stayed awake all night, keeping an eye out for anything or anyone passing by her door. If an ant were to try passing her door, he would have seen it and killed it. "If you wish to check up on your grandmother and Gina, I will go now. Stay here."
"I’m not going to hide in my room. I am the princess and if the servants here have to deal with the northerners, I will too. Besides, I have a feeling Killian will not allow me to hide. We have to keep an eye on him. Did anything happen during the night?" Amelia closed her bedroom door then proceeded to walk to where Margaret was saying.
"I," Cyrus stopped talking and looked around where he sensed someone behind them.
"Stand down traitor-"
"He is not a traitor. His name is Cyrus," Amelia spoke up. She knew Cyrus was given the name traitor because Killian had disowned him when Cyrus showed loyalty to her. Traitor was not something she wanted Cyrus to be called.
It angered Amelia that thanks to her Cyrus had to deal with the comments from the people here in the castle and now his own people. Even after this he still protected her as if none of the words got to him.
"The king sent me to be your guard and to take you to him the moment you leave your room. If you refuse to come, he wants you to know he plans to have a chat with your grandmother and the maid you sent to her. The king may want you alive but I don’t. Try running and I will kill you," said the stranger.
