The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 352

Chapter 352: Chapter 352

"I will forget about you teaching her how to use fire since we have a more important matter to deal with right now. Cyrus has finally come to visit us. Be nice," Amelia warned before Killian could say something to ruin the pleasant moment.

"Us? I don’t recall him being my friend or guard," Killian said, gently pulling Aydan from being too close to Cyrus.

Ten years passed without a single sight of Cyrus so Killian thought he would never have to see him again. Cyrus being here would open up conversations about what happened to Jahi. That was something he wanted to continue to keep a secret from Amelia, but he couldn’t if Cyrus was showing up before him.

Killian couldn’t help but think he should have gotten rid of Cyrus back then when he had the chance. Cyrus seemed dead the last couple of years so it wouldn’t have made any difference. Why now was Cyrus back in Amelia’s life when ten years had gone by?

"Killian. I said be nice," Amelia said, walking to him to hold his hand. When he said something she didn’t like she would pinch him. "Cyrus is going to be staying with us for dinner and I am going to inform Alastor to bring Gina for dinner so we can have a lovely reunion. All the men are going to be on their best behaviour or I will have Loki eat you."

"Aydan, come with me so you can get changed out of that dress. It is covered in mud and I want to hear more about this fire you and your father did while I was not around. Cyrus, I will have a maid prepare a room for you. I need to take care of Aydan first," Amelia said and then led Aydan away so Killian and Cyrus could talk.

As long as the two of them didn’t try to kill each other, she didn’t mind what they would say in her absence.

Killian kept his eyes on Amelia and Aydan since there was nothing worth looking at around.

Cyrus tapped his hand on his side. "Congratulations on your children," he said, hoping it would break the ice between them. He might not care for the father, but he would like Amelia and her children. "It is unfortunate that some look like you."

"Why are you here?" Killian asked, still keeping his gaze on Amelia. He would rather be with Amelia and their children instead of being here with Cyrus. "You were supposed to be mopping around because of the loss of your pathetic lover. If you tell Amelia about how she died, I will kill you."

"I don’t have any plans of telling her. I am not here to walk in her life and make her angry with her husband. I am just here to see my old friend. I won’t stay in the castle since it makes you angry, but you should prepare yourself for Amelia being angry when she learns I am not staying because of you," Cyrus replied.

Cyrus did think of getting a bit of revenge to make himself happy by telling Amelia that Killian killed Jahi, but the second time it crossed his mind, he knew it wasn’t worth it. Amelia didn’t deserve to get her happiness stirred up because of something that happened in the past.

"Stay out of my sight when we are not at dinner," Killian said, walking away from Cyrus to catch up with Amelia and Aydan.

Cyrus thought after ten years Killian might not be so cold, but he was wrong and for some reason, he preferred it to be this way since it reminded him of the past. He looked around at the castle walls which were slightly different from how he remembered.

Cyrus walked in the opposite direction to see what else had changed while he was away. He had plenty of time to venture around before dinner would come and Gina would be here to bother his ears.

Soon night fell on the kingdom and it was time for dinner which was always lively.

Amelia walked with Mara while the others ran ahead talking about another race. "You can go play with them if you want. We are waiting for Gina and Alastor to come."

"I don’t want to play. I shouldn’t play too much when I need to think about the future. I’ve done enough playing," said Mara.

"Mara, you don’t need to think too much about becoming queen right now. You are only ten and I expect that you would want to play with your siblings. We are preparing you at a good pace with your tutors so you don’t miss out on a good childhood. When I speak to you about the things you do with your siblings, I am speaking to you as you being an older sister, not the future queen," Amelia clarified.

"You have six more years until you will be named queen. Enjoy the time you have now to run around with your siblings because they grow older with you every day and there will come a time when they don’t want to play. These are the years for the four of you to create a strong bond with each other so don’t worry about being queen."

Mara felt relieved to hear her mother say this because she thought she had been disappointing her mother by playing with her siblings so much instead of studying even when her lessons were finished.

"If there is ever a time when you feel like you do not want to be queen-"

"I want to be queen," Mara assured her mother. "I want to continue what you started for a princess to be able to sit on a throne. I want to be like you and I have always secretly looked forward to being queen from the days you would let me join you in the throne room."

"That is good to hear. I fear that I might have been pressuring you to take over this kingdom and I wanted to give you the choice. I think your sister might not be interested in the north castle and she would want to fly around the world. You four have conversations you keep me and your father out of so do me a favour and tell them to come to me if there is anything they don’t want to do," Amelia requested.

"I will. You have nothing to fear about us not coming to you or father. We have our private conversations amongst us, but we eventually come to the two of you. Silas already tells you everything because he doesn’t think we should keep secrets from our mother," Mara said, watching Aydan chase Silas.

"That’s because he is a sweet mother’s boy and I hope he stays this way all the time," Amelia replied.

"Since he is so sweet, would you consider giving him a brother? He is surrounded by girls," Mara said, smiling innocently to convince her mother.

Amelia wasn’t falling for it since this trick had been used before. "I told your father to stop using the four of you to ask about more children. Having another son is not something I can control and you must never ask me about more siblings. Go play," she said, pushing Mara forward for her to go be with her siblings.

Amelia turned around to look for her husband since she sensed he was near. "I am going to kick you out of our bedroom. Whatever happened to letting another child come on its own?"

Killian appeared before Amelia in the blink of an eye. He preferred the days when she could not sense that he was near, silently watching her. "That was not my doing."

"And the sky is green. I know you have been telling them to ask when they will have more siblings and it is never going to happen if I make you sleep in another room. Be nice to Cyrus tonight and I just might entertain the idea of having another soon. Silas is alone," Amelia agreed with Mara.

He did whatever his sisters wanted even though he didn’t like it and the girls had to stop and think of games Silas could enjoy.

"I don’t want to think about that right now. I want a peaceful night with-"

"Cyrus!" Gina’s yell nearby interrupted Amelia.

"It sounds like Gina has found Cyrus already. I need to go ahead so she doesn’t try to squeeze him to death. She doesn’t know her own strength sometimes," Amelia said, holding Killian’s hand so she could take him to speak with Gina and Cyrus.

Amelia followed the sound of Gina’s voice and found her in the dining hall lecturing Cyrus for staying away for so long. Amelia knew she could count on Gina to properly scold Cyrus for not writing to them to say that he was fine so they would not worry.

Soon Gina’s anger was replaced by a tearful speech about how she missed him and Alastor was just as annoyed as Killian to have Cyrus back in the castle.
