The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 353

Chapter 353: Chapter 353

"Why didn’t you bring the children?" Amelia asked after noticing it was only Gina and Alastor.

"I need a little break so I left them with my mother. It will hopefully help my father to finally acknowledge his grandchildren and see that they are harmless," Gina answered.

Her father was one of the humans who disliked demons and wanted them gone. He wasn’t thrilled to hear Gina was with Alastor so he spoke to her less. Her mother was excited to have her stop working and focus on starting a family. She could not change who Gina settled with and since demons had become a normal sight, she grew accustomed to it.

"They will get another chance to see Cyrus since he is forbidden from leaving the castle. Are you still with Jahi or did you move on?" Gina asked, hoping Cyrus had woken up and realised that he did not need Jahi.

"Jahi isn’t alive anymore. I have not moved on anyone yet and I don’t want to. It is a little strange to see the two of you with children and I am a little confused," Cyrus said, looking at Alastor. The last time he was in the north castle, Gina and Alastor did not get along. Now they are together.

"It’s been ten years and I am still confused. What have you been doing in the underworld for the last ten years? Just sitting around?" Amelia questioned.

"There wasn’t anything else to do, but I did visit this world from time to time. I just stayed away from this kingdom since I wasn’t ready to face you yet. I moved around a lot so you wouldn’t have been able to find me. Did your grandmother pass?" Cyrus asked as it was odd for Margaret to not be here.

"Well, you see. Ugh," Amelia paused to smile since she didn’t know how to say what happened to her grandmother with the children around. It wasn’t something she told Silas or Aydan yet. "By now, she has certainly passed, but we weren’t in a good place when she was still alive. When I returned to the castle to take it from Fraser, she revealed that she didn’t like Killian for me and she had a role to play in what happened to my mother."

Cyrus found that hard to believe since Margaret was Amelia’s greatest supporter. He was certain he remembered it correctly that Margaret was the one to bring up a marriage to Killian to Amelia. How had that changed?

"I’m sorry about that," Cyrus said since he knew how much Amelia loved Margaret. There were so many important things about her life that he missed when she needed another shoulder to lean on.

"It’s fine. So many years have passed for me to get over it and I was blessed with more grandmothers. They don’t come to the castle often since they haven’t gotten over people wanting to burn them. I would have to go to their homes, but my mother will be here so that you can meet her. She is with Leonard now. He went from my uncle to my father," Amelia joked.

Killian touched Amelia’s hand, wanting her to be done with her conversation with Cyrus. If he wanted to know what happened to everyone, he should have been here instead of coming at the end when everything was all said and done. Cyrus did nothing to make Killian think that he was the slightest bit useful. Loki was a better guard to Amelia than Cyrus ever was.

Killian looked across the table at where Alastor sat with Gina and thanks to knowing Alastor for a long time, he could tell that Alastor was over this conversation. Killian would rather Amelia be questioning about the fire Aydan accidentally started thanks to him than listen to her catch Cyrus up on her life.

"You shouldn’t ruin this for her father," Mara whispered, though it was pointless since they were in a room full of demons.

"Ruin what?" Amelia questioned, turning to look at the two who immediately took up a cup and pretended to drink so they could avoid answering her. Amelia shook her head. Mara was a sweet child, but then she had moments of being too much like her father.

"They aren’t happy that our attention is on Cyrus. They can disappear if they want since we are going to be talking about Cyrus all night long. Maybe I should have brought my children to meet you," Gina said, now starting to regret her decision.

Still, she knew that if she heard them complaining about something each other did, she would want to send them to her mother.

"I am surprised you found someone."

Gina picked up a knife and pointed it at Cyrus. "What is that supposed to mean? The only reason I wasn’t married when you were here years ago was because all my attention was on Amelia. That is all."

"Right," Cyrus said, not believing it.

"It is true! If I didn’t have to tend to Anelia and follow her to the north, I would have been long engaged. Then when I returned with her all the men who had some interest in me were scared because I was around demons. You have no idea how many men wanted to marry me!" Gina argued.

Amelia glanced at Alastor who seemed quite interested in hearing exactly who these men were. Amelia wanted to know too since she and Gina spoke about almost everything, but she never heard of a lot of men courting her. She was aware of two guards who liked Gina.

Amelia smiled as it felt like the old days with Gina being competitive when it came to Cyrus. She was so competitive that she forgot Alastor was sitting right beside her. Amelia would never speak of any men she knew liked her when Killian was around. She wouldn’t put it past her jealous husband to go looking for those men despite the fact most of them had to be married by now.

"What are the names?" Alastor asked. He’d hate to think it was anyone he still passed by in the castle. "So I can watch my back."

Gina froze, now realising that she said this in front of Alastor. They once had an argument about her knowing the women he had been with. She told him that he had to point them out so she knew to be wary and not try to befriend one of them and have it thrown in her face later. She told him there was no one in her life and there was truly no one, but she couldn’t let Cyrus think that it was strange she got married.

"There is no one-"

"So you were lying to make another man think that you had many offers? Why should his opinion matter? He is a low demon," Alastor said, looking at Cyrus who was far below his rank as a demon. It was almost pathetic for him to be seated at this table.

"Amelia once said she thought the two would get together," said Killian.

Amelia whipped her head around to look at Killian. Why was he bringing her into this? Why say that now when this could have all been easily cleared up? Was he trying to get Alastor to go back disliking her or...

Amelia glared at Killian now that she realised what he was doing. Rather than him being the one to chase away Cyrus, he was making Alastor angry to do it for him. Alastor was so loyal to Killian that there was no need to make him angry to get rid of Cyrus. All Killian needed to do was give Alastor the order and he would get rid of Cyrus.

"I am warning you for the last time that if you don’t stop this, you will have to find your way into one of our children’s bedrooms tonight. I don’t need you to like him but stop instigating fights. That was a long time ago, Alastor. I don’t think there is anyone better for Gina than you. Now, can we please have a peaceful dinner or do you need motivation to not ruin it?" Amelia asked, tapping her fingers on the table.

Minus the children, the next person to ruin her dinner would find themselves flung across the room.

"Gina and I are close to Cyrus so you two need to get used to it. Now I am thinking that it would be a good idea for the three of you to go on a little trip tomorrow and you should take Silas. He could use a little time around men. And my sweet little boy will tell me everything he hears, right?" Amelia asked, looking down the table at Silas who nodded his head.

Alastor started to make plans that would have him busy tomorrow. Cyrus dreaded being with two men who hated him so he started to come up with a good excuse to get out of it.

Killian could not believe that Amelia was making him play nice with Cyrus. "You’re evil," he said.

"I’m a demon," Amelia shrugged her shoulders. "If the three of you get into a fight and hurt my precious son, I will find a way to kill all of you."
