The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 350

Chapter 350: Chapter 350

"I hope I don’t hear about the two of you running away from your tutors when I speak with them tomorrow. It seems far away right now, but it won’t be long before you are made queen of this kingdom so while I like you having your fun, do not skip your lessons to go play in streams," Amelia said, cutting into a slice of cake she had to enjoy with her peace.

Mara smiled, trying to appear innocent. She didn’t know her mother was aware of that. "Yes, mother."

Amelia held the fork with cake on it toward Mara for her to eat. "If you’re going to be sneaky, you need to be better so your father and I don’t find out about it. It would also help if you stay out of the sky when you are thinking of sneaking off somewhere. I might not fly, but I have eyes."

Mara took the fork from her mother and placed it in her mouth so she wouldn’t have to respond right away. Her parents never brought it up so she thought she hid it well. "It won’t happen again. Thank you for the cake, but is something wrong? You don’t let us eat cake before dinner."

"That is because then I will have to deal with the four of you not knowing how to calm down after eating sweets, but the cake is already here so there is no reason why you shouldn’t eat a little. I will get a piece for you after you drink some water," Amelia said to Silas.

Silas sat up to get the jar of water to pour himself some water. He wanted juice after flying around with his sisters and struggling to catch up to them, but he didn’t mind the water. Not when he could get cake right after it.

"Mother, when are you going to fly with us? Father says he wants to take us somewhere after dinner and we will have to fly to get there. It’ll be forever if we have to wait until you reach us in your carriage. I can teach you how to use your wings," Mara wanted.

It was fun to fly around with her siblings, but now she wanted to fly with her mother. Why travel in a carriage if you have wings?

"It is nice of you to offer your help, but it is not needed. I will use them one day, but not right now. Silas and your sister cannot fly for a long time so they will be riding in the carriage with me. It will be sooner than you think that I will be flying around with all of you. I have been learning since you were a baby, but I never took to the sky," Amelia replied.

"Father tells us that he is to blame," Silas spoke up after a long sip of water. "He said he used to fly you around crazy on purpose because that is what you do to let girls like you."

"Do not listen to your father on this, Silas. It will not get any girl you like to like you back. Your father is lucky that I came to like him for another reason. It is your father’s fault that I am afraid of flying, but I will fly with you soon. When you have learned how to keep up with your siblings," Amelia said, pinching Silas’s cheeks.

"I will tell the two of you a secret I don’t think your father knows. Sometimes I go off on my own to learn to fly. It is nothing-"

A knock at the bedroom room interrupted Amelia.

"Come in," Amelia said, shifting in her seat to see who had come to visit her. It smelled like one of the maids, but she didn’t know which one. Their scents sometimes got mixed up.

A maid opened the door and hurried to where Amelia sat. "I’m sorry for disturbing you, Queen Amelia. There is a man seeking an audience with you. He says he is your old friend Cyrus."

Amelia stared at the maid in disbelief. It had been over ten years since she heard about Cyrus. She had not forgotten about him, but she thought Cyrus had forgotten about her. She asked Killian if he ever saw or heard about Cyrus and also asked him to search for Cyrus, but there was no luck.

Amelia didn’t know if Killian had put in much effort to find Cyrus since he sighed or rolled his eyes whenever she brought him up. There was also the possibility that Cyrus was hiding himself well in the underworld where Killian could not find him.

"Please have the tea and cake covered until we return. Come with me, children. There is someone you need to meet," Amelia said, pushing back her chair as she stood up. She held out her hands for Silas and Mara to hold as they walked.

"Who is Cyrus?" Silas asked, looking up at this mother for an explanation. It was the first time he heard the name. "Is he a human or a demon?"

"A demon," Mara answered in place of her mother. She heard the name a few times from her mother and her aunt Gina. "Why have we never met him if he is an old friend? Was he in danger? If he was, why couldn’t he come to you for help?"

"It is quite a bit of a complicated story. Cyrus was never meant to stay by my side forever. He was looking for someone in this kingdom who was unfortunately made a slave because of the former king. When we found her, she wasn’t exactly fond of me because I was the daughter of the man who captured her so she wanted to kill me," Amelia said, going back down memory lane.

She had not thought about Jahi for a second even though it was likely that Jahi was living with Cyrus. Amelia wondered if Cyrus would be bold enough to bring Jahi to the castle with him.

"So, did that end your friendship?" Silas asked.

"No. Cyrus and I were still good friends, but for my safety and to help Jahi move on, he wanted to go live in the underworld. I don’t know what has kept him away for over ten years, but it is good news that he is back as long as we get to him before your father does," Amelia replied, picking up her pace to find Cyrus sooner before Killian could be told about him.

She took the children to the throne room where all visitors seeking an audience with the king or queen were taken to wait.

Amelia entered the throne room and looked around for Cyrus. He was not around when she turned to a demon so she did not know his scent well enough to be able to find him. She listened to other sounds in the throne room and eventually found Cyrus standing off to the side, looking at a portrait of her and Killian that was placed to show off the start of Bune royalty.

Cyrus looked away from the portrait to where Amelia stood with her children. He was surprised to see the change in her appearance. It confirmed the rumours he heard that Killian’s wife was no longer a human.

Amelia first noticed how long his hair had gotten. His hair which never passed his shoulders was now almost to his waist and like all the demons in the castle, he showed off the true white colour of his hair.

Amelia let go of her children’s hands and walked over to Cyrus to give him a hug as it was the most fitting for their reunion. "It is good to see you again, Cyrus. I should be yelling at you right now for not coming to see me or at least writing to say that you are alive. I have been looking for you," Amelia said, trying her best not to cry. "Gina will have to do it for me when she finds out you are back."

"I am sorry queen-"

"Do not start referring to me as queen. We are still friends, Cyrus. Maybe that has changed for you, but you still count as a friend to me. You can refer to me as Amelia. Why now?" Amelia asked, wanting to know why it took ten years to show up in front of her again. "Has it taken Jahi ten years to not be angry with me?"

"You have children," Cyrus said, wanting to talk about something else since Killian had not told Amelia what happened to Jahi. "Two of them. I thought he would have this castle full of children by now."

"It is actually four of them. One is finishing her lessons and the youngest is with Killian taking a look at the damage caused by a fire in one of the fields. I am not having the amount of children Killian wants. He talks of twenty these days and I know he is not joking. Children," Amelia said, turning to her children who stood where she left them. "Come meet Cyrus."
