The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 349
Chapter 349: Chapter 349
"Nothing is going to happen tonight so you should stop thinking about it. If I try to move her, she will wake up and start crying. I told you that we should have placed her in her own bed, but you wanted to keep her here until she fell asleep. Now you have to deal with the consequences," Amelia said, gently rubbing Mara’s back as she slept.
She had an eventful day with so many things to look at and so many things she made float. Amelia joked about Killian needing to seal everything down at first, but now she was seriously considering making it happen.
"I don’t mind nothing happening between us tonight. Time doesn’t matter for us anymore. You will soon get used to it. We can go slow with trying for another child and enjoy our time with just Mara a little longer. She is growing up fast," Killian said, looking at Mara who was changing every time he took his eyes off her.
"I am also in for enjoying our time with her. I don’t know if I can handle two children trying to make me fly when I hate it. If our children ever get angry and try to fly away, you will have to be the one to fly after them while I take my carriage. Unless there is some safe flying creature here I can take as a pet?" Amelia asked, hoping there was since she had no plans of flying on her own.
"Safe and underworld do not belong together. If I let you get on the back of any creature here, you’ll hate it more than flying with me. I must admit that I used to fly around bad just to mess with you-"
"You demon," Amelia chuckled, poking at his chest. She already knew that Killian purposely tried to scare her when he flew her around. Amelia had watched many times how graceful he looked when he flew around on his own. When he was with her, he flew like they were being attacked. "Thanks to you, I have developed a fear of flying and I won’t be able to bond with our daughter when she starts learning to fly."
"You have your own wings. You can learn to fly at a pace you like," Killian suggested.
"I am too afraid of falling. Why do you think I stay away from the balcony of our room in the north? I look at the drop and it makes my head spin. Becoming a demon added a few years to my life and it might be harder for a human to kill me, but I am going to continue to be cautious. I am too afraid of flying to try it," Amelia said, slowly turning on her side to get Mara to lie on the bed.
Mara raised her head and gripped Amelia’s dress so Amelia was forced to stop.
Killian partially regretted scaring her. He wanted her to be afraid to fly on her own so she would always choose to fly with him and now it went wrong with her not wanting to fly at all. "I’m sorry that I gave you a new fear. Our children will need to convince you to fly. How could you look Mara in the eye and tell her no that you don’t want to join her? I’ve seen the way you change your mind quickly when it looks like she is about to cry."
"That is different. She cries when I tell her I am leaving so I stay a little longer. Or she cries when Gina tries to do her hair so I take out her ribbons. That is nothing like her asking me to go into the sky where I can fall and maybe die. I will be sure to tell her she can blame her father for it," Amelia said, turning to Killian to enjoy him regretting scaring her.
"I am going to sleep," Killian sighed, turning around to back Amelia and Mara.
Amelia bit her lip to stop herself from laughing at his pain. One day she would learn how to fly so she wouldn’t be left on the ground while Killian and her children enjoyed it. She also did not want their children to feel like they shouldn’t fly since she hated it. Amelia planned to pretend like it was out of the question so she could make Killian regret even more that he had scared her.
Amelia continued to rub Mara’s back to send her into a deep sleep so she could finally lift her and take her to her bed without waking her. Amelia looked out the window at the world she became accustomed to quite quickly.
While Mara and Killian slept, Amelia stayed awake thinking about the future. Of what life would be like with more children and what would become of the kingdoms they ruled over. What would life be like when Mara got older and became queen?
Ten years later.
Amelia sat in a chair on the balcony of the room in the North, looking out at the clear sky. It was a surprisingly warm day outside of the castle so she decided to spend some time alone after speaking to the court to listen to the affairs of the north.
"It was good while it lasted," Amelia sighed as the sound of someone flying above her was heard. "I said you are not allowed to fly so fast when I am around. Do you want to make my heart fail?"
"Sorry mother," Mara apologised as she landed on the balcony. She fixed her hair which was out of place because of the wind. "We were trying to see who is the fastest and I have won."
"She cheated."
Amelia put down her cup of tea she would have liked to finish in peace. Once the conversation of who was faster than who started, there was no end unless she solved it. "Where is your brother?" She asked, listening to the sound of little wings trying to make it to the balcony.
Mara and her younger sister Kali, stepped back to look up at the sky where Silas was slow to join them. They were so caught up in trying to win the race that they forgot to look back to make sure he was keeping up with them.
"How many times must I remind you to keep an eye on your brother? He just started to use his wings so he is not fast like the two of you nor does he have much control of them. He cannot keep up with you and I have asked you to be slow with him until he gets used to it. If you’re going to race each other, please make sure he is safe in the castle first," Amelia scolded the two as she stood up to hold her hands out for Silas to come to her.
"I’m sorry mother. As the oldest, I should have paid more attention to Silas," Mara apologised once more. To make up for it, she flapped her wings to go to Silas who struggled to make it to them. She could hear him counting, something he did to calm his nerves while he flew around.
"It’s not her fault. I challenged her to a race," Kila said, hoping Mara would not be in too much trouble when she was the one to start this.
"I am not angry. I just want the two of you to be more careful with your siblings. You two are the oldest so sometimes I need your help to keep up with the others. There was a time when you started to use your wings and you were not good, but Mara was. I let her fly at your pace sometimes so you wouldn’t feel sad that you couldn’t fly fast. Just remember that with Silas," Amelia said.
"I am not going to fly anymore," Silas said the moment his feet touched the ground. "They don’t play fair."
Amelia didn’t believe that he was going to stop. He complained about Mara and Kila going fast, but instead of going to play with his younger sister who was also starting off with flying, he stayed with the two older ones and continued to complain.
"It is time the three of you take a break and have something to drink. I hope the three of you did not run away from your tutors again so you could play. Your father won’t be happy and this time, I will not help you get out of trouble," Amelia said, starring at Kila who was the main one to do it.
Kila smiled in response and slowly stepped to the side to get around her mother so could find her tutor and continue her lessons before her father found out. He already warned her that if she continued to get in trouble she would not join them on the trip to the underworld.
She could not miss it since Lilith promised her a hellhound.
"Anyone else?" Amelia asked, looking at Mara and Silas.
Mara and Silas shook their head as they were both smart to finish their lessons first.
