The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 315
Chapter 315: Chapter 315
"You should leave before I really consider eating you so one of Amelia’s problems would be gone. A little bit of advice. The demons have been acting out at night so you should find a place to lock yourself in to get through the night. Instead of running to the home you shared with your husband, you should run to one of the homes belonging to the castle. It was nice seeing you again Beth," Anne said.
Beth hesitated to leave the castle now that she knew Anne was looking to punish Fraser. "I have my things to pack-"
"There are no carriages to take you to where you wish to go. If you want to waste your time packing and then walk the roads alone at night, so be it, but I would advise you to leave now and worry about your dresses later. We will be getting rid of everything you and Fraser own so I will have it sent to you. It won’t be hard to sniff out where you are. You are wasting time," Anne said, continuing to walk Beth toward the gates.
"Have you always been this cruel?" Beth wondered as this was not the Anne she remembered. Anne was always quiet and nice which was why she was so loved by the kingdom and the people were ready to storm the gates when it was announced that she had passed.
"Your brother forced me into this castle. Lied to me that I would be meeting the man I love when truthfully he was making plans to marry me. What made you think I wouldn’t be cruel? I was placed in the seat of the queen and rather than make lives hell for innocent people, I showed them kindness because it was only your family who I hated. You misjudged me just as your brother did," said Anne.
Richard thought wrong when he assumed that she would fall for him because he was king. Margaret thought wrong in believing Anne would betray the witches that raised her.
"I was always wary of you. I was against him bringing a woman with no background and no family into our castle, but I did not have the right to go against my brother’s decision. If you lay a hand on my son, I will find a way to return and kill you. Again," Beth added. She didn’t know how but she would try.
Amelia planned to keep Fraser locked away instead of killing him so there was no reason for Anne to get involved and try touching her son.
"I am surprised that you did not ask Amelia to let you stay in the dungeon with your son or wherever it is he will be kept. It is the decision I would have made if I were in your place and Amelia was in the dungeon. I cannot stand to be away from my child. We would have to get through this together, but you and I are different types of mothers. This is as far as I will take you," Anne stopped.
She had nothing more to say to Beth.
Beth continued to walk toward the castle gates. She didn’t explain why she was leaving Fraser behind to Anne. If she stayed with Fraser, he would never have looked over his actions and tried to have a change of heart. And she did a terrible job at getting Fraser to admit his faults. Beth being around Fraser only encouraged the way he acted.
She was getting a bit of freedom away from Fraser, her husband, and the rest of her family.
It had been years since Beth got a moment to herself to not think about the castle so she wanted to enjoy it while it lasted. Try to think about herself for once and get rid of all the feelings she held onto from living in this castle. Then she would peacefully move on since she could not be without her son and she did not want to be alone.
She spent her life focusing on the throne and now that her dream was lost, she had nothing to keep her motivated. Nothing for her to wake up the next day to and be happy about since she would not be able to visit Fraser in the future.
Anne watched Beth leave to make sure the woman wouldn’t try to hide in the castle. She had a feeling this was the last time she would ever see Beth and that was the way she wanted it to be. The only Blackwell descendant Anne wanted in her life was Amelia. Soon the name Blackwell would fade in this castle and be replaced with the name Bune.
She hoped Amelia was open to creating a new legacy as Amelia Bune and letting go of the last name Blackwell. Technically, any descendent of Amelia to sit on the throne would still be a Blackwell just with a different last name so Blackwell blood would not be lost in this castle. Anne simply preferred not to hear the name, Blackwell.
Anne watched Beth walk further away and was ready to leave until she saw a familiar face walking behind demons. Her heart ached to see him after so many years. Aside from longing to see Amelia after she was given a second chance at life, she wished to speak with Leonard.
To thank him for sticking around the castle when he did not need to, but he did it to protect her and after she passed, he stuck around to protect Amelia.
Anne owed Leonard for all that he did for her and she felt like she would never be able to repay in five lifetimes.
She smiled as he neared her with the demons who were escorting him in the direction of the throne. Amelia did not tell her that Leonard would be back in the castle.
Her smile fell after Leonard looked at her for a moment and then looked away from her because she did not look like the Anne he knew. She was a soul in a stolen body. She might not be the same Anne he had loved.
"Leonard," Anne said to get his attention. She worried about how he would react to her being in another body and learning that she was raised by witches.
Leonard had never questioned why she was all alone when they first met and then the times they met after. He just brought her food and money on the days that he returned to see her.
Leonard stopped to look at the woman who said his name. He was in a rush to meet with Amelia and get an explanation about the people from the north turning out to be demons. He had to know the fate of this kingdom.
He did not recognise the woman standing off to the side.
"Leave us. I will take him to the throne room when I am finished. Some of the men in the court will be dealt with soon so you should leave now if you wish to feed on their souls. I will let the queen know that I have sent you to Lilith," Anne told the demons. It seemed they understood her words as a few of them looked excited at the mention of feeding.
"Who are you? Someone from the north?" Leonard questioned since the demons did not ignore her as they did with everyone else who tried speaking to them.
"I wish I could meet you with my old body so our reunion would be much sweeter. It is me, Anne. Back from the dead," Anne said, awaiting his reaction that she feared.
