The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 314

Chapter 314: Chapter 314

Anne and Beth walked out of the throne room in silence. Beth occasionally glanced to her side at the woman who looked nothing like Anne. This new appearance gave off a creepy feeling and Beth was starting to wonder if it was a joke that this woman was Anne. How certain was Amelia that this person was her mother?

"Stop sneaking glances at me and just say what is on your mind. There is no one to make you bite your tongue. Not your father or Margaret. It is just the two of us," said Anne, looking straight ahead at the path that seemed longer now that she walked with Beth.

It was unusual for the two of them to walk alone. Margaret would always be there to push Beth to the side and eventually, Richard would show up and make everyone leave so he could be with his wife.

She was growing bored of Beth just trying to look at her without getting caught.

"You are the one who asked to walk me out," Beth reminded Anne. She would rather leave with anyone but Anne by her side. There was tension from the past that formed in the tiny space between them. She was now reminded of the strange relationship she had with Anne in the past.

They were friendly with each other since Anne was to become the next queen and Beth had no place to be rude to her brother’s wife.

While she was jealous of how Amelia rose to be a queen, Beth was jealous in the past of how close Anne was with Margaret who she wished would act as her mother and how easy it was for Anne to be picked when no one knew nothing of her background.

Beth questioned daily why a nobody like Anne with nothing to her name could so easily become a queen while she had to fight daily to prove her worth only to be shut down by her father and laughed at by Richard who found it funny a bastard princess dreamt of the throne.

She disliked how easy Anne had it and though Anne showed her more kindness than the other Blackwells, she could not bring herself to truly like Anne.

"That was to get you to stop begging my daughter to release your son. Who are you to be telling my child that she needs to be punished? Our children are nothing alike. Since you are so aware of the person your son is, why haven’t you taken matters into your own hands? You don’t seem so remorseful for how you raised him," Anne said.

Beth stopped walking and glared at the back of Anne who knew nothing. "And how do you know that I am not remorseful? It hurts to know how my son turned out because of me. You know nothing."

"I know that had Amelia not taken over this castle, you would have let Fraser continue to grow into a tyrant just so you could rule behind him. You’re only sorry now that your dreams have crumbled."

"Honestly, I watched Fraser play as a child and I have known what he would grow to be. His mother knew him much better than me. You did nothing to raise your son better because you knew Richard would like this side of him. Am I wrong?" Anne asked, continuing to walk without Anne.

Fraser was a splitting replica of Richard when it came to personalities. It was how Beth pushed Fraser to his uncle.

"Your silence tells me otherwise. Unlike my daughter, I don’t care for your tears and speech about your son. I would have killed both of you so I would not have to look at you later, but as much as she likes to deny it, Amelia always had a soft spot for family. That is why it angered me that you stood before her and told her to judge herself. You would have let your son kill her-"

"I would not!" Beth denied Anne’s claim. Anne came back from the dead and acted like she knew everything. "I have told Fraser time and time again to leave Amelia alone. I would not have him kill his cousin."

"I doubt that. With Amelia gone, there is no one for your son to be compared to and wasn’t he planning on attacking the North? Don’t look so surprised, Beth. I have old friends here who were willing to tell me everything once I convinced them that I am Anne. Two thrones sounded good to you, didn’t it? For your-"

"I will not stand here and have you tell these lies when I was the one telling my son to leave your daughter alone. I was the one who scolded him when he thought of her or tried to plot on her husband’s life. You should be thanking me. Where was this anger towards Margaret who lied to Amelia for years?" Beth questioned.

"Well," Anne said, turning around to face Beth. "I don’t speak toad and I would rather not waste my voice yelling at one. I rather boil it alive like my mothers wants to do or skin it as squirms in my hands. I plan to deal with Margaret in time. I never liked wasting my time arguing with you Blackwells. It was pointless."

They were all too proud to listen to her so she never wasted her words. She stayed to herself in her tower and raised her daughter to be different from the others.

"If it was so bad, why didn’t you just run away? Take your daughter and leave. You chose to stay in this castle with my brother and walked around looking sad when there were plenty of opportunities for you to leave. Opportunities that I created for you and you let go to waste. I have been helping you- Why are you laughing?" Beth questioned, startled by Anne’s sudden laughter.

"You’ve been helping me? Be honest that you were looking to help yourself. Trying to get me to leave before I might give birth to a son. Little did any of you know that I made sure I would never carry another child for him. I am glad I had not tried to stop it in the beginning or I wouldn’t have Amelia. I thought of running away so many times, but I knew it would be pointless," Anne softly spoke, thinking back to all her plans she turned away from.

Richard had this weird obsession with her that he thought was love. He always had someone watching her and if she did manage to slip away from him, the only place she could run to was to her mothers, but she did not want to bring the castle guards to their doors. If she ran away anywhere else, the castle guards would forever hunt her since she would have stolen the princess.

"I had no choice, but to stay and endure. Putting up with your family. How could I take Amelia away from this life when she thought she was destined to be queen after me? I could suffer alone in this castle as long as the people I loved were safe. There were a few fools bold to try harming my daughter, but that was nothing a few potions couldn’t get rid of. Getting the ingredients was hard and hiding the potion making from Amelia was a task, but I managed," Anne revealed.

It was mostly the women Richard brought into the castle that she sometimes had to get rid of or men in the court who she heard planning a future marriage for Amelia with one of their relatives.

"Maybe I slipped up in covering my tracks when I made potions and that was how Margaret found out. I had a potion waiting for you. For the day you would try getting rid of my daughter so all the attention would be on your son. Thankfully, you never tried it. You are too weak in scolding your son so I will do it for you. I will correct his ways before I send his soul to the underworld-"

Beth moved once Fraser was brought up and grabbed Anne’s shoulder to warn her. "Do not mess with my son."

Anne smiled as she pushed Beth’s hands off of her. "Aside from Amelia, I hate all of you and wish to see you dead. I honestly walked you out here since I am so hungry," she said, inhaling Beth’s scent. Her hunger came and went. "The hunger mixed with anger makes you a good meal. Leave this castle and never step foot in it again, Beth. Amelia’s offer for you to join the court does not await you."

"If you’re so sorry about the way you raised your son and you cannot live without him, just die. Die and hope to meet him in another life. I will make him think over his actions in your place since you could never find the strength in you to give him a good smack," Anne whispered, enjoying the mixture of fear and anger Beth felt at the moment.
