"Why are you laughing? I am being serious," Killian said after Amelia’s laughter died down.

"Because you were telling me a joke. You really want me to believe that we got married what felt like yesterday and now today I have a child inside of me. Not just any child, but a demon who is feeding on my soul so I have to feed on souls from the underworld. It is funny," Amelia laughed, wiping tears from her eyes.

"What other child would it be other than a demon when you have a demon husband? This is not something I would joke about. If it is too much of a shock for you, you should lie down and think-"

Amelia abruptly stood up. "How am I to lie down when you are claiming that I am already carrying our child and I have eaten a soul? You are closer to me than Lilith. It must be a trick since you did not notice. Isn’t it?"

"I will admit that I still do not sense anything different about you, but it would make sense now why you were affected by holy water when you are just a human. The child inside of you is not so safe from holy water. I thought we were both open to having children. That was why I never made any effort to pull away from you. Is it not what you want?" Killian questioned.

"I am open to us having a child, but I thought it would happen at a normal pace like everyone else. You know, like a few weeks from now you would sense something and by then the kingdom would be back to some good order so we only needed to worry about one thing at a time. I didn’t think I would have to be careful with how I moved so fast. And if Lilith has sensed it already, how fast will it grow? I am already aware of the souls," Amelia continued to rant.

Killian decided to let her get her concerns out. He only wished there were grapes in the room for him to eat while she wrapped her mind around them having a child. It solved his problem of having to figure out why holy water affected her.

He wondered if the witches would turn Margaret back to her old self to tell her the news and then turn her back into a toad.

Amelia walked back and forth, trying to plan where they would have to go from this point on. It was still dangerous in the Blackwell castle and in the north for her to be walking around with a child growing inside of her. "Let us assume that since you have not noticed anything, there is no child yet," she concluded.

"How would you explain the holy water? Lilith would not joke about children since she would not like to fool a woman about it. She loves children. It is shown by how she treats her own-"

"Lilith and Lucifer have children? Why do they never speak of them? They both act like it is just the two of them," Amelia said, sitting back down on the bed.

"The two of them are always on top of each other and they have been married for years. The first child was before they got married. And I think the second and third also. I cannot keep up with it," Killian replied, not interested in Lucifer’s children when this was their moment. "There are many children spread out all over the underworld. Some are in deep slumber because they are not all there in the head."

"I would have never assumed that they had children. For the time that I have been around Lilith, she did not speak of any children. Okay, I will try my best not to freak out and enjoy this moment. We should keep this a secret until you can sense that there is still a child. We also need to gather the rest of the priests in case there is something they are planning. It is a bit unfair that I cannot drink something strong to help calm me. I am just going to sleep," Amela decided.

The only way she could not overthink was if she slept right now. It was unfortunate that it meant her time with Killian would be cut short, but she did not want to ruin this surprise with her panicking. It was one thing to agree they needed an heir, but now that the time had come so soon, she was worried about the safety of their child since Killian would be far away when morning came.

Amelia laid down beside Killian, no longer angry with him at the moment. They could work on him leaving without a word another day.

"I hope this doesn’t make me sound awful, but this is bad timing. I would like to have you here by my side so that I feel safe. I trust Edith and the other guards to keep me safe, but I won’t be able to stop myself from worrying. I do not want to do something wrong and lose-"

"You will not. Carry out your day as you did before, just not doing anything reckless. If you keep worrying about doing something wrong, you will stress yourself. Just relax," Killian said, carefully pulling her closer to him.

"That is easy for you to say. Haven’t you seen enough of me overthinking to know it is easier said than done? I feel the need to walk slowly so that I do not trip. You have been looking forward to continuing the kind of demon you are and we need an heir. I do not want to be careless, but I cannot hide in my room," Amelia shared her newfound fear.

"Amelia, I want a child with you because you are my wife and I love you. Carrying on my bloodline is good, but it is the last thing on my mind right now. Would it cheer you up if we torment your grandmother by telling her you are pregnant and watch the toad jump around losing its mind?" Killian asked.

Amelia didn’t see how that would cheer her up. "Shouldn’t you be looking for ways to cheer me up? You have been itching to taunt my grandmother since you heard she has become a toad. Isn’t it bad enough that she is no longer human? Do you think she is self-aware? Like she has thoughts or she is just a toad that wants to be free?"

"I am not certain how witch spells work, but I hope that she is aware of what she is and still has thoughts. I hope your grandmothers do not kill her before I return tomorrow. You need to sleep now. I will wait for you to fall asleep and then leave," Killian said, covering her eyes with his hand.

"That is why I am trying my best not to fall asleep. I do not want you to leave yet. Couldn’t Lucifer have been kind enough to assign your job to someone else after he heard the good news? Surely there is someone other than you that he can trust. Or he should do it himself," Amelia muttered.

Why did her husband have to be leaving her side while Lucifer comfortably stayed in the underworld?

"As fun as it would be to have you badmouth Lucifer with me, I would rather he not be on your mind now. Lucifer can’t leave the underworld for a long time. The balance tips and demons that need to be kept sleeping might wake. Now sleep," Killian said, touching her forehead to force her to sleep.

Luckily, by morning he would be gone to avoid her anger.
