The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 299
Chapter 299: Chapter 299
Anne tried to get to her feet to greet Amelia, but her knees were suddenly weak and she could not stand up. She could only sit down and look on as Amelia approached her. It felt like yesterday Amelia was coming to visit her in her tower, but it was actually two years.
There was so much about Amelia that had changed in two years. Anne could see that Amelia had grown taller even if it was just by a little bit. She didn’t see Amelia as a little girl, but a grown lady most likely because she was married now.
Cordelia and Ramona backed away from Anne to give the mother and daughter a moment alone for them to hug and catch up with each other. This moment was all Anne ever spoke of since they brought her back into this world. They could now stop worrying about Anne being sad that she could not see her daughter.
For Amelia, it was a bit odd to look at someone who did not resemble her mother, but carried her mother’s soul.
"Mother," Amelia said, going down to the floor to join her mother. Her feet might become numb in a moment.
"Amelia," Anne replied, reaching out to touch Amelia’s cheeks. The warmth of Amelia’s skin against her hand was just what she needed to confirm she had not been dreaming. "I have come home. I am sorry that it has taken me-"
Amelia lunged forward to hug her mother, causing Anne to fall backwards onto the floor and Amellie to join her. A simple hello would not suffice. She wanted to hug her mother and never let her go. "Welcome back mother. I have missed you dearly," she said, burying her head in her mother’s shoulder as tears formed.
There was not a day that went by that she did not think of her mother. Learning that her mother was still alive was one of the greatest gifts she had ever received from the world. A second chance for her to be with her mother. To make up for the time the priests robbed her of. Her mother was gone too soon and it was not fair.
Anne fought to hold back her tears so she could comfort Amelia, but she could not stop the salty water from escaping her eyes. To hold Amelia again was surreal. She never wanted to let go of Amelia, but she needed to have another good look to make sure Amelia was without a scratch and no one had laid a hand on her in her absence.
"I am sorry that I could not save you," Amelia apologised. It was her biggest regret that she had not paid more attention to her mother in her final days. She might have noticed that something was strange and found a way to save her mother. Or be able to tell the kingdom that it were the priests who killed the beloved queen. "I am sorry."
Anne smiled at Amelia still being the same daughter who always wanted to protect her when it should be the other way around. "There is nothing for you to apologise for, Amelia. You made my final days the happiest I have ever been in this castle for a long time since you were born. I should have told you about the secrets the world has sooner. About my family and the priests," Anne said, looking at Margaret who was not happy with the reunion.
Amelia pulled away from her mother and wiped her face to get rid of her tears. This should be a happy reunion full of laughter.
"I know why you wanted to keep me in the dark about it and I am not angry that you kept the truth about your family hidden from me. The priests would have turned their attention to me sooner if I knew about demons and witches. Forgive me," Amelia said as her tears would not stop even though she tried hard to get rid of them.
Anne wiped away Amelia’s tears with her thumbs. She knew how much Amelia hated to cry in front of anyone. Their reunion was being watched by many people they both disliked. "It is alright to cry, Ameli, but hold your tears until we are alone. Do not let them see you like this. Not on this day when the throne finally belongs to you, my sweet child."
Amelia bowed her head to wipe away the last of her tears. She was so focused on her mother that she had not thought about Fraser and the men of the court watching them. It spoiled the happy reunion with her mother. "We can speak alone out of the throne room. We must talk now or I will not be able to stop crying."
Amelia stood up first and offered her hand to help her mother up. She was not the only Blackwell queen present. Her mother would forever be a queen in her eyes and Amelia dared anyone to try taking the title from her mother.
"Where is your husband? Does he treat you well?" Anne asked.
From the moment news of Amelia’s engagement reached her ears, she worried about her daughter being in a marriage that matched her own. She always had hope that Amelia would fall in love with someone and marry them before Richard would place her in an arranged marriage.
It was not a dream that come true since princesses rarely got to pick who they wanted to marry, but she had hoped for it. She knew nothing about Killian and her mother’s tales about him confused her. For the longest time, all she knew about him was that he was curious about humans, and if he wanted to harm Amelia, there would not have been a wedding.
It was only when Sybil came to speak about meeting Amelia for the first time that she hear that Amelia and Killian looked to be a couple in love with each other. Killian watched Amelia with every step that she took and Sybil claimed the two almost made a child outside of her cave. It was good to hear from Sybil that Amelia’s marriage was going well, but she had to hear it from Amelia’s mouth.
"Killian is leading the demons to other kingdoms to take over them. There is nothing for you to worry about, mother. He treats me well. More than I think I deserve at times. He has helped me to lower my guard and trust someone again. I love him and I do not regret marrying him. I cannot wait for the two of you to meet," Amelia said, wanting Killian to return now.
Lucifer needed to find another demon to take Killian’s place so he could return to her. She was already missing her husband and now that her mother was here, she could not contain her excitement to introduce the two people she loved most to each other.
"Amelia," Margaret interrupted the peaceful moment. "I hoped you would be smart enough to not fall for these tricks. You must not stand near the dead. That woman is not your mother."
Amelia bit her tongue. At a time like this, her grandmother should be silent. The woman she had a hand in killing now stood in the castle once more.
"I know what happened between the two of you," Amelia revealed. Whatever her mother wanted to do from here, she would stand by.
For two years, she had stood by Margaret and loved her while not knowing the secrets Margaret had. That love should serve as a sorry for Amelia not shielding her today. Had Margaret been honest when Amelia was looking for her mother’s killer, there might have been some sympathy to push for her to be locked up instead of killed.
"If you want to get your revenge on her and the priest, you should do it. It was your life that was taken and I will not stop you. Do not think of my feelings. Do what I know you have thought of," Amelia said, squeezing her mother’s hand she was still holding onto to show support.
If not her mother, Killian would end up killing Margaret. It was a hole Margaret dug on her own and there would be no one to pull her out of it. She had to face the consequences of her actions for once.
Anne kissed Amelia’s forehead. She knew it wasn’t easy for Amelia to come to this decision since she had always loved her grandmother, but it needed to be done.
Margaret and her priest had hurt too many people by claiming they needed to be cleansed.
Anne turned to Ramona and Cordelia. Rather than kill Margaret right away, their home provided the necessary tools to make Margaret wish she was dead. Margaret deserved to be tortured before her time in this world would end. "You can get the pets you spoke of," she said.
It was not only Margaret she would take, but the men who were a part of the court.
