The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 298
Chapter 298: Chapter 298
"It’s the princess."
"She walks with them."
"She has doomed us all."
Amelia slowed down as the chatter from the townspeople filled her ears. She was reminded of the time she announced she would be marrying Killian. The harsh words she received were because she was marrying the man who killed many of their sons. They forgot then and now that she had married Killian to save the kingdom.
If she had not, the town would have smelled of death since the only reason demons were not killing everyone in sight was because Killian wished to please her.
Amelia stopped to address the townspeople. Anything said due to their fear would not hurt her. If she had been unaware of demons and there were suddenly creatures flying around the sky, she would be afraid and speak of the royals since the castle was so silent.
"You will all be fine. I will make sure nothing happens to any of you who have never done something to hurt this kingdom," Amelia spoke loudly for the large crowd to hear. "Today I will make sure that anyone who has terrorised this kingdom for years, abused their power, and taken advantage of those below them will be properly dealt with today. Even if they are a royal," Amelia said.
"Demons fill the sky. They came from the direction of the north. You have married their king and laid with him. You walk with demons-"
"And I love one," Amelia cut in, not ashamed to admit that she loved a demon. "I knew about them a little before my marriage to Killian. A marriage that I took part in to save all of you as I am doing now. You might not see how yet, but I wish to protect you and rid the evil from this land. It is not only the demons you must be afraid of. There are people who walk amongst you who have done terrible deeds."
"I am not going to try to convince you that all demons are good. They were in the underworld for a reason. I can just admit that I have fallen in love with a demon and though it goes against everything the temple has told us, I will not change what I feel for my husband. I truly wish to protect all of you. I will judge any crimes you have committed and if there were none that caused harm to someone else, I shall let you go free," Amelia promised.
A man stepped out of the crowd of people. "There is no need for you to judge us. Let us return to our homes and hide to get away from those creatures."
"No," Amelia denied his request. She had a plan that she was sticking to. "I knew the people who did foul acts would make it easy for me to point them out. They would object to what I intend to do. Do you truly want me to stop my plans? For me to tell the demons they no longer need to listen to me? What do you think would happen then? This kingdom has been a mess far too long and I shall fix it today.’
"If you know there is something you have done that might cost your life, I suggest you plead your case and tell me what you have done since then to make up for your crimes. I will judge all of you in the throne room. Children will not be judged. They should not have to be punished. Try not to create a ruckus on the outside. You can return to your homes quickly if you just do as I say. Excuse me," Amelia said, leaving to go to the throne room.
"You will not be able to finish judging all of these people before the day ends. More from the other villages and towns will be arriving right after you have finished with the people here. You cannot go without any rest," Gina said, worried for Amelia.
"When I become tired, I will have Lilith take over. I will deal with the people she picked out when I wake up. Where is Lilith?" Amelia questioned, now noticing that Lilith nor Agramon was not with them. "Edith, where did Lilith and Agramon go?"
"I saw the queen speaking to Agramon as we left. Do not worry about the queen. Agramon knows not to lay a finger on the devil’s wife. That annoyed man is coming," Edith informed Amelia, pointing to the sky where she smelled him.
"Annoyed man? Alastor?" Amelia took a guess.
Alastor appeared before Amelia, his clothes covered in blood because of the human he killed. A man from the court had slipped away and rather than take him to the throne room, Alastor had a small snack.
"I honestly do not want to know why you are covered in blood. I only hope that you have not killed someone innocent. What is it that has happened for you to come to me after not being by my side since Killian left?" Amelia asked, continuing to walk to the throne room.
Alastor was meant to be helping Edith protect her, but he had been flying around doing as he liked. Something bad must have happened for him to be standing before her.
"There are witches in the castle. They have brought with them a woman who claims to be your mother. I am aware that-"
Amelia grabbed Alastor’s arms as her body filled with shock from the possibility her mother had finally come to her. "My mother is here? Truly?" She asked, shaking him without thinking. She was desperate to know if it was really her mother and witches had not come without her. "Where is she?"
Alastor removed Amelia’s hands from grabbing onto him. With her husband who would get jealous over the sight of Amelia touching another man, Alastor valued his life to remove her hands. "She is in the throne room," he answered.
Amelia grabbed a handful of her dress so that she could run without falling and made her way to the throne room. She ignored the chatter from the people who were close enough to hear her mention her mother. She had to look like a crazed woman by running to meet someone who was known to the entire kingdom to be dead.
They already thought she was crazy to have married Killian so why should she worry about their words now?
"Amelia, you must be careful. You might fall!" Gina called behind Amelia. She ran in case Amelia were to trip and fall. No one wanted to have to explain to Killian that Amelia fell on her watch. They had to fear Amelia being pregnant now.
In the early stages, it was dangerous with one wrong move from the mother ending the pregnancy. Since Amelia had been intimate with Killian, they had to assume that she could be pregnant and be careful with her. They could not risk losing the first future king or queen.
’Please do not fall!’ Gina internally screamed. She understood perhaps more than anyone else how much Amelia desperately wished to see her mother again, but she wished Amelia would not run so carelessly.
"Amelia!"
Amelia could not make out who was calling her. They needed to wait until she confirmed that her mother was there. She slowed down when the doors of the throne room became visible.
Amelia wanted to see her mother right away, but the thought of this not being her mother caused her to slow down. She tried not to get her hopes up.
Amelia entered the throne room, looking around for who might be her mother. She remembered that her mother was using another body to hold her soul. "Mother!" Amelia called so her mother would know that she was there.
"Anne! You must get up now," she heard unfamiliar voices coming from a corner. What stood out to her was her mother’s name.
"Amelia, you must not," Margaret said, walking to where Amelia said. "Amelia!" She raised her voice as Amelia started to walk away from her towards the witches. "She is not your mother anymore."
"That is for me to decide," Ameilia replied, keeping her eyes on Sybil. Seeing Sybil was all she needed to confirm that the woman sitting on the floor with tears in her eyes was her mother.
