The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 290

Chapter 290: Chapter 290

If not for the castle shaking, Fraser would have been laughing at Amelia for talking about demons. He truly believed that she was a witch or something close to it. He didn’t know if she had always been one or if something happened to her in the north. The castle shaking was enough evidence for him to have her set on fire once he got rid of her guards.

"Get the princess!" Fraser ordered the Blackwell guards. They were wasting time standing around here while Amelia stood by his throne. "Kill all of her guards."

He would rid the castle of anyone from the north.

Agramon’s laughter as he left the darkness where he previously stood to join Amelia, stopped the Blackwell guards from attacking Amelia. He was always amused by how bold humans could be. Easily dismissing the existence of demons when they were in this world longer than humans.

The throne room reeked of fear. Not from Amelia as usual, but from the king and all the guards behind him that were scared of Amelia’s words. They worried that she was telling the truth about demons.

The castle became still, meaning that the gates were now opened, and demons were coming out of the underworld to have their fun. The world would be just as Agramon liked it. Full of fear.

Agramond stood at the bottom of the throne to get a good look at the so-called king. Amelia’s attitude pissed him off, but the sight of this king really got on his nerves. The king was too small, not so smart, looked like he had never held a sword, and was the first one to cower when Agramon stood in front of them.

He could only wonder how the hell did the Blackwells pick him to be king? If they had been smart and picked the princess, he wouldn’t have had to deal with Killian finding a queen and looking to carry on his line.

"Attack the princess-"

"You have a fear of dying like some man named Richard," Agramon interrupted Fraser.

"That is my father,’ said Amelia.

"I do not care. You have many fears. Many of them are ridiculous, but you greatly fear dying in your sleep just like your uncle. You also fear that you have disappointed your mother. How boring. Humans don’t have fears like in the past," Agramon said, disappointed with the king’s fears.

"Oh," Agramon smiled as he sensed a new fear when he looked into Fraser’s eyes. "You fear that you will die today. That you will lose to her again."

"That is not true. What are all you bastards doing?" Fraser raised his voice, looking around at his guards who had not moved. Amelia only had a few guards around her while he greatly outnumbered her. "Get the princess and lock her away. What is with all of you?" Fraser asked as all colour drained from the guards faces.

Fraser turned around to see what had caused them to be afraid and the moment he turned to face the man Amelia called to show demons were real, his heart skipped a beat. "Y-You," he stuttered, running to stand further behind his guards

The man standing before them now had large wings that resembled those of a bird, his brown hair changed to white, his eyes were a dark shade of red, and horns like a bull decorated his forehead.

"Do you believe my words now, Fraser? I was like you a little before I got married to Killian. The only ones that knew the truth were the priests. They kept us in the dark from the beginning and hid in the temple when we needed them. Those fools tried to kill my husband with holy water and now they are all dead. Grandmother is as sly as everyone said she is and I have ignored it for too long. She won’t live for much longer," Amelia said, going back to sit on the throne.

Fraser had a hard time listening to Amelia with the creature that stood before him. His feet trembled and all he wanted to do was make a run for the outside where all the castle guards could protect him. "Guards," Fraser spoke as loud as he could. "Kill the northerners and bring me the princess," he said, slowly walking backwards through the group of guards.

Agramon chuckled. It was amusing how the king thought his guards would be able to kill a demon of his ranking when the priests were dead. "I will make a deal with all of you. Run and leave your king and you just might live to see another day," he proposed.

Like the simple creatures he knew them to be, the guards pushed Fraser forward, holding him tightly when he fought against them and repeated that he was the king.

Royalty did not matter right now when there was a creature from some other world standing before them. The fact that Fraser was ready to run and leave them behind instead of standing to fight with them, made it easy for them to leave him behind.

The guards were all ready to fight to the death alongside the king to keep the kingdom safe, but when the king wanted to run to save himself, they would do the same. Run away to get their families and get far away from the kingdom.

"You can run away now. It is the king that I wish to speak to," Agramon said, peering down at Fraser because of their height difference. He would catch the guards and eat their souls later, but for now, he wanted to feast on some of the king’s fears.

Fraser made an attempt to run with the guards, but as he did so, something wrapped around his feet and caused him to fall. He groaned from the impact.

"Running away from a demon only amuses us like the cat with the mouse. Aren’t you the king? Pick up a sword and defend your castle. It is your duty as king. You spoke so boldly when you saw her on the throne. Where has that fire gone?" Agramon asked, walking to where Fraser lay on the floor, acting like he was badly injured from his fall.

Agramon bent down to pick up Fraser by the back of his shirt. "Do you not want to protect your castle? Did you not want to burn your cousin just now? She awaits you at the top of the throne. This is your chance to prove you were worthy of the title king," he said, holding Fraser’s head to make him look at Amelia.

This would be the human he would manipulate to kill Amelia when this day came to an end. Fear filled the king’s mind and made it easy for Agramon to later control him. He had to keep this human alive.

While Killian was away, he would claim the north castle with his followers. The devil could not get upset with him again since he would wait for the day to come to an end before making a move to get the castle.

Fraser stared at Amelia with tears in his eyes, pleading with her to let him get away without saying it. She should take one look at him and feel sorry for him since they were cousins. "A-Amelia. Listen to me. Let me go this once, and you can have the throne. I will take my mother and go."

"That is not going to happen. I told you that I would be cleansing this castle. We are getting rid of all the people who have taken advantage of the people, and as the king, you must be here to see it. Besides, if you haven’t noticed it already, there is no way for you to run. Agramon, release him," Amelia ordered. She did not want the two of them to be so close.

Amelia made the deal with Agramon, but that did not mean she trusted him.

"My guards will keep watch over the king," Amelia said.

Everyone but Edith would keep an eye on Fraser and the men of the court. Lilith and Sadie should be on their way down the mountain to help Edith guard her.

Agramon let go of Fraser without a word. He could always find the king later and propose a deal that would ultimately end in the king dying, but that part wasn’t important for the king.

Fraser touched his neck, where there was pain from Agramon’s hands holding him. He tried to catch his breath while he looked up at Amelia. She had betrayed her people by siding with these creatures. She was always going on about putting this kingdom, but what she was doing today was the opposite.

Fraser had a feeling that Amelia was going to kill him so she could have the throne. There was no way she would let him live. If the roles were reversed, he wouldn’t have let her still be breathing right now, and Amelia knew it. He had a chance to survive if he could get close to her. He was always advised to keep a dagger hidden under his clothes.
