The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 206
Chapter 206: Chapter 206
"My mother was someone who liked to keep to herself. She would only let certain maids into her room and spend time with me or my grandmother. Leonard was the only guard she let get near. I found out that they liked each other but once my father saw her, he snatched her away even though Leonard was his friend. As much as I love Leonard like an uncle, I am glad he is not my father," said Amelia.
In another world, if she was not royalty, she would love learning that Leonard was actually her birth father instead of Richard. It would have made her feel better that her birth father did not hate her. As a princess, she would feel out of place if she wasn’t a true Blackwell princess.
"Looking back, I think she always worried that there was something wrong with our food which was why she wouldn’t take food from some of the maids. They might have been working for my father’s mistresses or people who wanted a new Queen. She was always so careful when it came to our safety. I still cannot figure out how she just died. I don’t believe it was natural," Amelia said, still holding to her gut feeling that her mother was murdered.
"What did they say she died from?" Killian asked.
Amelia still remembered the announcement they made inside the castle. "A cold but my mother never looked sick. She was just gone the next day and at first, they wouldn’t let me see her body. My father was obsessed with my mother, wanting her to love him. I wonder if he killed her because she would not love him or if he protected someone he loved more than my mother."
Killian could only think of one person. "Wouldn’t that be your grandmother? I doubt he loves Annabelle enough to protect her even though he wanted her to carry his heir. Who else would he love aside from his mother?"
"My grandmother would not kill my mother. She had no reason to and she was just as in shock by my mother’s death as I was. I have started to question what other people think of my grandmother and I know she is not exactly kind to others but I cannot point to her as someone who killed my mother. There was no motive. She wouldn’t have killed my mother to-"
"It was just a random thought," Killian said to stop Amelia from rambling off about it. She was only starting to question what her grandmother was really like so it wasn’t time for her to consider that Margaret might have had a hand in her mother’s death.
"I know. I just can’t see her doing something like that and then remaining so close to me. She knows our relationship would never be the same if that were true. She’s the one Blackwell relative I could always turn to. My aunt Beth and I have always had a cordial relationship but I am not that close to her. Maybe I should have talked to her. She wasn’t close to my mother either but she might have a lot to tell me about my grandmother," Amelia stated because of the sour relationship Beth and Margaret had.
"The next time we meet with your relatives, you should ask around about what happened in the castle before your mother’s death but don’t make it noticeable. You can try to connect it to your mother’s books she left behind. You might not be able to find evidence to make your mother’s killer stand before the people but I will help you punish them," Killian offered as he could drag them down to the underworld.
"Thank you. We should go back to you. What do you want to talk about? Is there anything you want to ask me?" Amelia asked so they could turn this day back to being about Killian. She was no longer sad when she thought about her mother.
"Did you truly not think of yourself being married or how many children you could see yourself surrounded by one day? Didn’t you play pretend married like other girls when you were younger?" Killian inquired.
"Of course, I pretended to get married as a child. It was quite fun and they were the most fun weddings I ever attended. I did think of marriage but not too often. I didn’t want to create an ideal marriage and then not have it. I did think about children a lot. I wanted three girls. It is not something I can control but I would love to give birth to girls who will create history. Not that I wouldn’t mind having a boy," Amelia added as it would be natural for Killian to want a son.
"I don’t care what gender my children will be. My goal is to just have offspring to continue my kind. There are ways for you to guarantee you have girls-"
"I don’t want to get involved with witchcraft," Amelia shook her head. "What is your next question?"
"After you killed your father, what was your next move? Were you going to go ahead with their plans to marry you off, try to compete with your cousin, or run away?"
Amelia thought about it for a second. "I genuinely do not know. It was just important that my father was no longer alive. Maybe I would have taken Gina and Cyrus to leave the castle. I wouldn’t have been able to go up against Fraser. He has so many people backing him. If I had killed my father earlier and left, you might have killed everyone in the castle. I might have returned after and taken the throne. Life is odd with the paths when end up."
"It is actually Gods who meddle in which paths you take for their own amusement. Have you ever heard of a golden child?" Killian asked as even those who were not demons should know about it. Margaret would definitely know.
"Golden child? I feel like I have heard this before I cannot place where. It is on the tip of my tongue," Amelia said, trying to shake her mind for where she heard it. She had a fuzzy feeling but her mind could not take her back to where she knew it from. "I cannot remember. What is a golden child? Is it like a statue?"
"No, it is a person. A child that many say was blessed by the Gods while others call it a curse. A golden child is someone chosen by Gods to either bring peace to the world or cause chaos. They are quite special for someone like me," Killian explained.
"I see. Don’t take this the wrong way but what does this child have to do with what we were talking about? Will one of our children be this golden child?" Amelia asked and quite frankly, she didn’t want one of her children to be this golden child. Everyone knew not to get involved with the Gods which was why she never made it known about the things she prayed to the Gods for like making Annabelle’s child a girl.
"They can’t be that child if it is already their mother," Killian revealed.
