The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 205
Chapter 205: Chapter 205
"Look at that, you even tremble like a cat after it comes out of the water."
"Killian, I swear I am not in the mood to hear you talking about a cat right now. I know you purposefully threw me in the snow," Amelia said, rushing to take off her coat now that they were back at the house.
Their fun was interrupted after Killian "accidentally" lost his balance and Amelia slid right into snow.
"It was truly a mistake but this was a good revelation that you are in need of new coats. You were trembling far before you reached the frozen river. Blackwells don’t have high-quality coats," he said, picking up the coat she threw on the floor. The fur wouldn’t be enough to deal with the coldness of the mountain or maybe Amelia just wasn’t someone meant to be out in the old even for a second.
"You were moving around so skillfully and it just so happened that when we reached a big pile of snow you lost your balance and I was pushed in that direction? I’m afraid I cannot believe you," Amelia said, going to the fireplace to get it going but then she remembered her unique husband. "A little help with getting a fire going please."
Killian took his right hand off the coat and snapped his fingers.
Amelia stood in awe at the fire slowly growing in the fireplace even though there wasn’t any wood. If she was ever going on an adventure, there would be no reason to bring any tools. All she needed was Killian.
Amelia sat down right beside the fire to warm up while Killian continued to inspect the coat. "This is just a thought but if I were to become a demon, would I be able to snap my fingers and make a fire? Oh, wait. A better question is, can I do this without having to become a demon? You know, like some of your skills rub off on me?"
Killian looked away from the pathetic excuse of a coat to Amelia who sat on the floor. "For someone who didn’t want to change who they were, you certainly have a lot of questions about demons. There is no way for my skills to just rub off on you. Even with sex but if you want to try until it happens, I am happy to help you."
"I didn’t mean with sex. I meant as your wife doesn’t this make me special other than the fact we are married? Does it make us have some sort of connection in your world? For me as a human."
"It does. There is an emotional connection to knowing when the other is hurting or when they are happy. Since you are human, it will take a while for you to be able to understand it and know when what you are feeling is actually concerning me. The best person for you to speak with is the Queen of the underworld. I was informed they would be joining us for dinner tomorrow night. They’ll be joined by other important people both inside and outside of the underworld," said Killian.
"Outside? Do you mean demons like you who have come to live in this world? Are we talking about the ones inside the castle now or outside of this kingdom?" Amelia asked. Up to now, she had not heard about any demons not living in the north on this mountain. She was curious to see who else came up to live outside of the underworld.
"We’ve spread out quite far to places that would take you months to reach. There are groups of demons that live in towns where there are only demons and some that blend in with your kind. This mountain has the biggest group of demons which is why there was a need for a leader. There is a nearby group close in numbers but the leader doesn’t refer to herself as Queen."
"A woman," Amelia liked that it was a woman in charge. "I look forward to meeting her. When we return tomorrow I will oversee that the castle is ready to have guests. I will need to have a list of who is staying. There doesn’t seem to be a head maid to take care of this so I will pick someone of my liking if you don’t mind. I will speak to Alastor to get his opinion and also inform you before it is official."
"Do as you wish. Many of them might not say. They are only coming to see the devil and the woman I have chosen to marry. Some only want to see what kind of woman I have married," Killian said to calm her fears that everyone coming wasn’t like Agramon and would want her dead. "I am not the only demon who likes humans. Do not be surprised if someone tries to steal you away from me so they can figure out what makes you so special over other human women."
"I will try to use their curiosity to make them like me. It would be good for all the groups of demons in this world to have a good relationship. You never know when you would need their help. Would you like something warm to drink? I think Edith packed jugs full of already-made tea. We only need to warm it up. There is nothing better than sitting by a fire with something warm to drink, a blanket, and someone to tell stories to. Get comfortable on the floor and I will get the tea," Amelia said, standing up as she was no longer too cold.
"Am I the first person you will be warming up tea for?" Killian asked, hoping he was.
"The first man but not the first person. I used to spend a lot of time in my mother’s room and when our tea would get cold, she had this special kettle she would let me put over the fire to warm it. She didn’t like throwing out tea just because it was cold. I really loved when winter came to the castle. We would stay in her room and she would read me stories," Amelia smiled, remembering how wonderful those days were.
She stared at the bags from the cook which Edith gave to her. Amelia lowered her head and wiped away the tears forming in her eyes since she did not want to ruin the moment. They were enjoying each other’s company now for her to run it with tears.
"I uhm," Amelia started but couldn’t remember what she wanted to say next. There was a tingling sensation on her skin and turning to look behind her, she realized Killian was no longer by the fire.
"You can cry if you are missing your mother, Amelia. If it would make you feel better, I would love to hear about the woman who gave you life," Killian said, trying to cheer her up. He hugged her as from watching humans he knew the moment called for it. He would never understand what it was like to miss a mother but he didn’t want Amelia to hide her tears from him.
"You will regret giving me the option to because I will fill your ears with stories about her for hours and hours. If she were alive now, she had this list of things she would have made you do before you could get married to me. Like, yell out all of the things you love about me while wearing red. Even now I cannot tell if she was being serious," Amelia chuckled.
"Public humiliation for her daughter’s hand. She and I would have gotten along fine. Maybe we should make it a tradition for when our children want to get married," Killian stated, already planning to go through with it but he had a few more ideas.
"I wish she would have been able to see there is someone who enjoys the way she thought. I would not have let you do such a thing. There are a few things my mother and I did that I would love to become traditions in our family but we can have our own. Like taking a break from the castle as we are now," Amelia suggested, as being alone in this house with Killian gave her the same peace she felt with her mother.
